Now the product will cost more to use this technology. Don't worry, you'll still be getting the same 8 ounces of product, but it's okay that they charge you more because you'll finally be able to use all 8oz!
I can talk about my circle of friends/fellow students in college. Alcohol is used to relieve stress.. much like a cigarette. Alcohol leads to sex for most teenagers/mid-20s men and women (and I suppose older, but this commentary is from my own experience), a healthy activity -- that also relives stress. Alcohol is social. A more social person is shown to also have a healthier life versus a non-social person. Alcohol is a huge part of teenage/mid-20s life in New Jersey, especially enrolled at a university -- and I imagine most American life.
Are there better options for a healthy lifestyle? Exercise, diet, etc? Absolutely. But when you look at all things evenly at the end of the day, it does not surprise me that alcohol is a positive part of life for most people.
In the face of an absolute tragedy, the journalism is almost as bad. Using these sort of horrible incidents and making absurd connections to gain hits/views/attention on a news article is absurd.
"Three year old shoots self with gun" or "Nintendo causes kid to commit suicide".. one is a more accurate description of a real event, and one is journalism exploitation.
If you own a gun, you don't leave it near a kid. A kid means anyone not responsible enough to know the consequences of pulling its trigger -- this may mean up to 18 years old, if the situation so warrants. To leave a real gun, loaded and ready for shooting, within reach of a three year old should be a criminal offense. The father didn't pull the trigger, but he might as well have.
Ever see a three year old? Ever see a three year old pull/grab/touch/suck/eat/play with EVERYTHING in sight?
Sure, you'll sell the big Spiderman name or pretty graphics to a handful of ignorant parents, but in the end your game will succeed or fail based on the quality of its gameplay.
When you've mastered the gameplay, and you can majestically combine graphics and movie license, then you have a truly stellar game. See: GoldenEye 007.
But you can't neglect the gameplay for any reason, or else you end up with titles like Superman 64.
Google, develop something for my iPhone that makes me solve a series of differential equations before I'm allowed to send out a text message after 11PM.
Please.
Or maybe just.. "Hold your iPhone level for 60 seconds if you would like to send this message."
I know all too many children who simply follow the orders of adults. I also know too many children who never follow the orders of adults. A middle ground must be reached to teach kids that in some situations, you must refuse an adult. Some children are simply so passive that is unhealthy and/or dangerous.
If this victim would have been empowered (from her parents and/or from her education system) with the knowledge and confidence to prevent this, she would have been much better off.
I think THIS is the real issue at hand.
Of course, the events that transpired are indeed a crime and need to be handled by a court, but I'd like to see the outrage directed towards making sure children are taught not too so blindly obey and to fight for their human rights when necessary.
Let's prevent this from happening again with more than just a legal precedent.
Can anyone post a link to facts/discussion about the Chinese avoiding the number four, death, skeletons, etc? I've never heard of this--I'm fascinated.
One thing TFA suggests (and a comment or two here) is that click tracks are necessary to allow digital editing. That's not really the case and isn't the reason people use clicks. You can sync an editor to a live track and in any event, if you need to push or pull an off-timed beat you can just adjust manually or snap to grids with accuracy in the hundredths of a beat in Protools or whatever. And its not drummer tempo consistency. The vast majority of pro drummers are perfectly tight and the human ear enjoys their slight variations in timing (although My Chemical Romance got rid of their first one for it among other things). No, the real reason that clicks are used 9 times out of 10 is where there are sequenced keyboard, bass line or percussion type parts and the click is used to keep the drummer in time with the pre-programmed parts.
Regarding My Chemical Romance, I grew up seeing them live in basements. Their new drummer is worlds better than their old one.. they used to suck live because of their drummer's inability to keep time properly.
Check out drummer Tucker Rule on Thursday's new album, Common Existence. I'm pretty sure he's playing to a click, but they feel raw.. and the recording of the drums is also money--the drums sound like DRUMS, not synthesized beats like most pop music. You can hear the skins.
When I was about 12 I destroyed the palms of my hands playing Mario Party 64. There was a game where you had to spin the control stick with your palm really fast to wind up a flying Shyguy. It came to the point where the activity not only tore holes in skin but also the gloves I wore to do it. Outrageous.
I read 20+ news stories every morning on my commute from NJ to NYC. I do this on my iPhone.. I have no need for a newspaper that only becomes waste and costs me $1. I have Google News set up as a bookmark, and I read my news that way. No annoying folding/bothering people with a giant paper, no waste.
There's so many GREAT older gen (such as PS2) games that I've never played.. and I've played quite a few PS2 games. Why spend $60 on a new game (in addition to $300 on a new system) when I can get great games for $10-$20 on the PS2?

iOS 42. is totally useless for iPhone users until it gets jailbroken. Stay away like the plague until it's jailbroken and stick with 4.1
iTunes is more "bloated" and "worse" than any Microsoft Office app I've ever used.
Seagate did this months ago ($250 for 3TB).

Can someone PLEASE jailbreak the new (August/September purchased) iPhone4?

Mod this. Angry Birds is the best iPhone game I've played yet.
Huge selling point will be Divx support. Obviously, it will need a jailbreak.. but even with a jailbreak, my iPhone 3G can't properly play Divx.

SIMPSONS did it! SIMPSONS did it!
Hopefully they come down. It looks like its $500 for one of the new models if I'm already on a contract.
So now that there is a $200 16GB 3GS, what do with a recently cracked (but completely functional) 16GB 3G? Repairs are $200+ .. throw it out a window?

That'd solve 95% of my relationship problems.

I saw it, obviously. I'm hoping for a 160+.
I wanted, nay, needed an announcement of a new iPod (something bigger than 160). I guess I have to wait til September?
What is the technical/financial/business reason that Instant Stream on Netflix isn't up to par with their DVD collection?
