Besides the big-name ISPs whose sole purpose is to rip off the country, in Australia, I don't think there really are any monopolies on internet. Many ISPs are available Australia-wide, and I had, when I switched ISPs lately, over a hundred to choose from.
Really? Strange. I've installed Ubuntu on many computers with no problems whatsoever.
My current setup has a dual boot of WinXP and Ubuntu (the difference is really noticeable, 5 mins startup vs 5 seconds), and I was only using Ubuntu for a while until I started playing WoW a lot again... I could emulate it but I didn't leave enough space on the partition to install it - and don't have enough to resize anyway. As Izaak said above, my loyalty is only to the applications I use - if I don't need windows to run it, I won't use windows. Personally, I hope MS dies and releases all its products as open source (like that's going to happen), thus eliminating the need to emulate windows in other OSes.
Of course, then we'd have parts of windows in other OSes.
But seriously, when the hell is Spore actually coming out. I've heard all manner of news and seen all manner of videos, but all in a single burst. I haven't heard anything else recently.
Granted, I haven't been looking per se... Is it so wrong to want to unleash my monstrous, sadistic, and brutally destructive spawn on an unsuspecting world?
Ironic that many current Windows games will run better on linux than on windows Vista.
Not every game. Which means that some will still run well. Besides, emulation is a complex process, you won't get performance as good as the original system until...
All you had to do was call Microsoft and they would have validated you over the phone. I did that once after running out of activations after a cpu+mobo upgrade. I got directed to an indian call centre. They said "the server is down."
It's faster and simpler to crack my genuine copy than it is to put up with the crap service Australia receives.
You assume that this theatre is under american law. You also assume that this theatre is using jamming technology as opposed to certain materials, which could be due to a lack of knowledge on the parent's part.
Anyway, these devices are used in theatres in Japan. In the UK, I know of businesses that have mobile-jamming devices installed that affect work areas but not staff rooms, so workers can still make calls on breaks.
Oh, and a funny story. At dinner one night in Sydney we were debating just this subject. This Australian girl talked about how advanced their new plastic money is, and said you can't rip it -- then she proceeded to demonstrate and ripped a bill right in half.
A common misconception. Australian notes are not advanced because you can't rip them - which you can, it's simply more difficult, but because the method of making the notes is a secret, so it's difficult to convincingly forge them.
Um, I recently got annoyed at my chair so I used my madd skillz at geometry and stuff to navigate a lounge through the huge objects in my room.
Now I can't get it out.
I would think they would find whatever exploits people are using to do such things and patch them. Probably with that WiiConnect24 thing.
From the site:
"Communication: Wii can communicate with the Internet even when the power is turned off. This WiiConnect24 service delivers a new surprise or game update, even if users do not play with Wii. Users can connect wirelessly using IEEE 802.11b/g, or with a USB 2.0 LAN adaptor. Wii also can communicate wirelessly with Nintendo DS."
"less chance of a Ninja if you play past their bedtime."Fools! Can't you see that your perceptions of 'bedtimes' are figments of an overactive imagination?
WoW reaches too many countries to simply "play past their bedtimes". I'm Australian, and when it's the majority of America's bedtime, it's our kids getting home from school. And some get off even earlier than that...
Though, a lot less Australians play WoW at a young age.
Of course, the fact that European servers are separate helps.
Yeah, but we can do it with confidence that we're relatively safe. *nix is like a condom.

That's horrible, and now I feel horrible because I found it very funny.

Not that it's not my precious environment as well, but it just sounds better.
Not every game. Which means that some will still run well. Besides, emulation is a complex process, you won't get performance as good as the original system until...
Until... Until something kewl happens.
Alright! I don't know much about emulation! -_-

I find it amusing that America, whose citizens love to claim the best of everything, still use an outdated system of measurement.
I do believe it's a kind of hat...
How charming. I wonder if the Wii will have fashion accessories?
You can really hear the whooshing noise as the sarcasm flies overhead.
Australia's Toys 'r' Us have been doing the same thing, AUD$50 preorder with a free game on launch.
Of course, since we get the ass end of just about every game launch on the planet...
I was just going to grab one from the US cheap and early but if they're not wiigion frii, what's the point?
