So facebook, youtube, and twitter as private entities limit free speech and imagery they don't like. Now it's a car company limiting how we can drive.
What if I want to take the car to track day, or I own my own private road that has no speed limits?
It is not a company's place to dictate my behaviour, that's the job of our elected leaders to enact and enforce the laws we desire. If I want to exceed the speed limit understanding that I might loose my driving privileges or freedom if caught violating it, that should be my choice.
Some of you say, "But but but they're my roads too and if you're speeding you might kill me", then grow up and learn defensive driving. Life is not safe and no one can guarantee a safe life.
What next? If taken to it's extreme logical conclusion, this move isn't good. Our freedoms are being lost bit-by-bit by non-elected entities.
I will never buy a Volvo now, even though I have been considering one recently.
Yes, and the masses will still purchase and gobble this stuff up so it will become even more pervasive. They just don't care or see the problem with it.
I'm having a hell of a time finding IP cameras that do NOT use the cloud. You can't even tell if you read the specs sometimes.
If I were smart I'd startup a similar company that "features" no cloud connections for the informed market.
Good luck with that. Admins have been trying get vmware to support non-window tech for years. And their response to "fix missing functionality" is to use the "Full" supported client i.e.Flash.
So, what are we admins supposed to do without Flash? Like it or not Flash is still a necessary evil since many IT vendor's managment utilities require it for config. I wish Vmware would finally dump the flash requirement (the HTML5 version does not have full functionality) and the requirement for Windows as a vCenter host. It's about the only thing left in our environment not open source.
And no, I do not want to switch to Chrome, I thoroughly dislike it and don't trust it.
Well, to be honest I guess we're ALL fucking beyond stupid for willingly bugging ourselves with a listening device in our pockets; our cell phones. They have the same capabilities as these.
My current TV has no mic or camera, but my next TV I will likely have to keep off the network or physically remove the mic & camera in it. I don't even trust being able to disable it in software and there probably won't be any models without those "features".
And they don't want to "give away" their proprietary secrets anymore. Back in the day the manuals explained nearly ever API detail necessary to use a product, now it's like pulling teeth to get that info. Remember the old Hayes modem manuals with descriptions of every switch setting and AT command?
Instead, now we get little one-page sheets of paper in 16 different languages all interspersed together and it's nearly unreadable in any language and contains no info of value.
This is how our company's system has worked for 15 years. Anything the ASR can't understand gets forwarded to an analyst that plays back what the caller utters (an utterance) who then manually sends the call to the appropriate entity. These human decisions are logged and used to "train" the speech recognition models further.
Or logged onto the site. Ever. What's it even good for? I stay in contact with everyone I need to via other methods and NO employer has ever even mentioned FB to me.
Steep learning curve? What steep learning curve, everyone I have set up one for has been using it as easily as windows and they only call me for help a couple times a year
They're called Magnetic Eddy Current brakes and are used on many modern roller coasters. They are inherently failsafe (excluding the possibility of the brake rails coming detached from their mounts).
Most of the cracks I have seen are only in the top protective layer of the display. Is this not simply the machine that heats the glass to the correct temperature to soften the epoxy bond necessary to remove the it from the digitizer? The only "calibration" need would be to align the glass over the display properly.
In December 2014 my wife was in her last weeks of life when I was informed I would be laid off in a few months. The company allowed me to spend the rest of my employment through February 2015 at home with her until her death on Christmas day 2014. I did not even have to report for work or do my job but got paid and kept our insurance.
I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't be with her to take care of her at the time. It was very depressing to lose my job, especially at that time. But I must say they went above and beyond for me and the CEO came to the funeral even though he did not ever meet or know her.
Fuck cancer (colon), she was 51, never drank, smoked, or did drugs and we were married for 20+ years. RIP My Love - I miss you
And you wonder why some of us are climate change sceptics.
It's shenanigans like this that make us wonder what we don't know (or hasn't been discovered/revealed yet, like the Clinton emails) is going on behind the scenes.
I still don't understand why I must PAY to have my recycling bin emptied when the city grants a nice monopoly and they can sell all that metal & glass at a tidy profit.
Except Johnson is a complete idiot. He can't even name a major foreign leader and had no idea what/where Aleppo is.
How could you possibly elect someone so uninformed about geopolitics?
At least Trump has some sort of good relationships or reputation with a few world leaders and is read up about current events, plus he is a good negotiator and has a solid understanding of economics.
So much hate against a guy who simply has run a business like every other businessman in the world (relatively successfully too) and (claims) to want to change the system.
I won't be buying any batches of iPhone 7's. Not without the headphone jack. If they remove this from all phones, I will look high and low for a phone that does!
The loss of control over our lives and devices is getting staggering.
Who (i.e. what customers) asked for this un-feature to be thrust upon us consumers? I haven't found anyone around me yet that likes this idea?
I've been through an iPhone 3, 4S, and now a 5S (now several years old) and have not had a problem with any of them other than my dropping them causing display cracks. I try to keep my battery at near the (ideal) ~40% charge level never letting it get below 20% or charging above 80% and batt life is still near new levels.
I can count on one hand the number of crashes I experienced, however, I am apparently not the typical user as I don't install a zillion apps for everything (no facebook, bank, games or other crappy apps - the stock apps have been stable).
I chose the iPhone 5S because I like the chunkier, meatier form factor and the 6s seemed so thin I am afraid I'd break it in half if I sat on it in a back pocket. I believe the thinness of the 6 is what causes alot of trouble due to the entire frame flexing.
Itâ(TM)s called an iphone se

Ummm, if ads support the programming, then why do I have to "pay extra" to watch it?
The original premise (promise) of cable TV was that you paid to NOT see commercials and to see feature movies and programs uninterrupted..
Until there is no more "elswhere" to go.

And I love the performance of my wired JVC noise cancelling headphones, you won't find a better value for the performance of these at ~$120.
Now even the damn "Premium" pay channels i.e showtime, hbo have ommercials.
WTF?
Now they're double & triple dipping the f'n ad revenues.
What's next? systemd in Firefox (or a dependency on it)?

Why the hell does a seatbelt retractor need fucking software? The mechanical ones have never failed for me. The KISS principle works.
