That doesn't just apply to cancer, either. It applies to diseases like MS, and even simply going out of business.

I agree, Microsoft is a disease, and it keeps spreading.

Tokyo has been destroyed so many times in anime that it makes me wonder if akihabara should relocate to some other city.

But then it always rises in 20 years to become some techno-paradise with mecha battling each other in the streets to start the whole cycle again. Clearly Akihabara is the driving force behind this.

Well, not this one. I'm terribly disappointed that Enterprise is ending tonight. The last two seasons were great, and the first two were better than any other Trek series' first two seasons, except for TOS. The last few episodes have been quite enjoyable, especially the 'Mirror Universe' eps. Mmmm...Empress Sato. At least Paramount did the right thing by releasing the DVDs sooner rather than later.

  22. Re:When will we say "enough"? on Microsoft Researching Patent Law with New Experts · · Score: 1

Software shouldn't be patented. It shouldn't even be copyrighted or trademarked. There is such a short shelf life on software and software companies that the impact of denying access to techniques and logarithms effectively shuts out competition and fair use not only for the life of a product but well beyond, negatively influencing people well beyond the useful scope of any novelty that could possibly be discovered.
One only has to look at the rampant achievements and success of Free Software and Open Source to see how much the rest of the industry is being held back by software patents and other "intellectual property" restrictions.
