Re:move on
The opinion piece from DN in 2005 is not data. Can you not tell the difference?
BRÃ... has the data and the "opinion piece" is DN cover of that data, the "cultural heritage" claim of it is likely made because adjusting the data for social and economical differences between the groups of people still doesn't put them on equal level. As for doing any such adjustment I just think that result in false values anyway because the reality is that the immigrants are employed less, work less, live on welfare more, have lower education, are mostly men and so on. The real outcome of them coming here include the effect of such factors because they are what they are. Their over-representation is higher than the data isn't adjusted and it's most of it remain even when it is.
The problem isn't the text in DN or "my failure to provide good links", the problem is rather that the data is so fucking hard to find.
This one is available as is likely what the DN text block is about:
https://www.bra.se/download/18...
It's of course a longer read than the DN piece.http://wwwc.aftonbladet.se/nyh...
Lots of places contain the piece saying those with the highest over-representation is from Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia, I've seen claims with specific numbers for them somewhere but that one is hard to find because there's so many places which bring up those four on this subject so I don't know what to google for to find the one with the actual numbers. But those numbers and those repeated claims must come from somewhere but I don't know where.
Sweden used to be a world-leader in statistics and it's nothing weird that we've had statistics of these things previously. Statistics people could access and share and make people understand how it was. By now the government however isn't interested in creating such reports over the statistics.
That I don't know how to find the number (Feel free to call BRÃ... since it's most likely from them and maybe they know, I just don't manage to find the original source numbers by a simple google search and within seconds / by visiting the first hit) doesn't make the data or claim incorrect. It just mean I don't know where it is.what were the confounding factors in the study?
Irrelevant and just an attempt to excuse the raw data. The immigrants are like they are. They aren't Swedes. Any adjusted data would be false data. And the thing is that even if you adjust it they won't be on par with Swedes anyway.
Sadly we've got Jerzy Sarnecki as researcher and professor in criminology who seem to be of his own political opinion and don't tell how it is and the data in the raw but have to mix in his own political views when "explaining" things ruining the Swedes understanding of these things.
The over-representation of being registered for any crime whatsoever was 2.5 times and when adjusted (= false) it become 2.1 times. In Swedish media, by people who wanna lie, by people like you, that result in claims that make it sound like that adjustment would make all the difference go away, like it even mattered if it did because THE DIFFERENCE IS THERE, the last time I heard about it in more serious media and not just a communist trolling on social media the claim wasn't that it was completely removed, just that "a large share", the larger share or the majority or something such was removed if one considered socio-economic factors, but that's not the truth, the truth is that it dropped from 2.5 times to 2.1 times, which is a difference but a small one not explaining the majority of it.

That you consider it "racist" is irrelevanta. That's meaningless and it's still true.
That some idiot had the chance to moderate it troll is just sad.
As for data of course I have it:
http://www.dn.se/debatt/kultur...
https://www.bra.se/download/18... (Bilaga 4, table 1 and 2 page 61 and onwards for instance.)
This one doesn't have the country-specific data but I never manage to find the original source for it any longer:

The country-specific data maybe was put together by someone looking at their source data

https://petterssonsblogg.se/20...I wouldn't make the claim if it wasn't true but it's never about truthness or the actual source for you guys because the only reason it's asked about is to discredit the claim. Even if it's true and out there and is a fact it will still be considered a worthless point because it's not ok to view people in that way, group them together, irrelevant because not all are sentenced, whatever.
The fact is still that for some nationalities the over-representation was over 20 times, for two (China and Malaysia or the Philippines or something such) it's actually below 1, sadly most of the asylum seekers to Sweden are rapefugees of those shit cultures.
We don't have any data for the 21st century because the government doesn't want any created which by itself kinda is data enough.

Re: Germany has way more problems than Facebook
The claim I read the last time was two children and 27 200 SEK which is $2914.
http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyhe...
Says a family with three children and mention 28 000 SEK = $3000 precisely. There's this one from 2013 which gives a number more in line with what you claim with 22 249 SEK / month but that one is three years old whereas the one with 28 000 SEK / month is from this year:
https://ladycobra.wordpress.co...Regarding SFI (Swedish for immigrants):

4/10 follow through.
22% drop completely mostly because of getting a job according to that one.
http://www.op.se/opinion/ledar...
Says 1/3 finish SFI.I have no idea if people actually lose the money on a scale worth mentioning.
On the other hand there's those who "separate" to have double benefits and double housing and then rent out one of them and live together anyway, or the cheating with assistants or fake consultation for getting a job or a fake job (or a fake job to get to stay as a "working immigrant") and so on.
The more welfare solutions and providers with poor regulation the more chances to cheat the system.
28 000 with three children is still $3000 and that's after taxes for no work whatsoever.
The reason for such absurdity is the idea that all children should be brought up in a similar environment and that's nice and all BUT YOU CAN'T OFFER THAT FOR THE WHOLE FUCKING WORLD IN A NATIONAL SYSTEM AND STILL MAINTAIN A GOOD LIVING STANDARD YOURSELF! -

Re:Are you saying that criminals don't exist?
Except it's not just one link, there are many more, to quote from the linked article:
National newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, explicitly using the term “no-go zones”:http://www.svd.se/opinion/leda...
National newspaper Aftonbladet on the rampant ISIS recruitment taking place in these areas:
http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyhe...
Dr Magnus Ranstorp on the rapid growth of radicalized Islamists (in English):
http://foreignpolicy.com/2015/...
An article about the police incident deserting their own and ceding control to criminals in Landskrona. They literally use the term in the headline, adding that the police are now pulling out of the area:
http://hd.se/landskrona/2014/0...
The local police chief explaining why the officers are not to exit their vehicles and make arrests:
http://www.hd.se/lokalt/landsk...
More from the police chief on how they now deal with the area:
http://hd.se/landskrona/2014/0...
Also, if these areas do not exist, why is the ambulance union demanding military-grade protection gear to enter them?
http://mobil.svd.se/nyheter/am...
Another article interviewing the ambulance union chief on why they need bulletproof vests, helmets and similar gear:
http://magasinetneo.se/artikla...
As for the police report, it clearly states that there are indeed informal courts and parallel justice systems (page 12, third paragraph (3.4.3)). Anyone who has read about Södertäljenätverket knows how broad the extent of this clan-based influence can be.
http://polisen.se/Aktuellt/Rap...—Nationellt/Ovriga-rapporterutredningar/Kriminella-natverk-med-stor-paverkan-i-lokalsamhallet/
The vehicle checkpoints are mentioned on page 15, fourth paragraph (3.5.3).
On page 13, second paragraph (3.4.4) you find the frequent attacks on police. Here is just one of many news stories on how police have to install shatterproof glass on their vehicles because they get rocks hurled at them whenever entering these areas:
http://www.svt.se/nyheter/regi...
There are numerous newspaper articles, police reports and even Youtube videos by the gangs themselves bragging about how they’re chasing off the cops from “their” area, but I think this list should be enough.
I've nothing against Muslims in general myself, the same as I've nothing against Hindus, Christians or Buddhists. I do have a big problem with people obscuring the truth, and thus far you've presented no compelling evidence to suggest the above information is untrue. A rambling collection of anecdotes and opinions, sure, but no evidence.

Sure I've been.
9+3 months may be correct here to. I don't know exactly.
I don't live in California.
The bottom one here says newly built. The one I've been in hasn't looked like that. Each cow have their spot here to but at least it's bright and looks rather clean:
http://www.lansstyrelsen.se/halland/Sv/lantbruk-och-landsbygd/lantbruk/utbildning-och-radgivning/Pages/Okad_djurvalfard.aspx
Maybe not as good as the Californian one but still pretty good.I can't find any good pictures because googling for the Swedish word for farmyard mostly brings up a bunch of kid toys and what not.
But the ones I'm used to seeing are things similar though maybe a little bigger than this:

Which is rather small scale. And old. Maybe in this case bigger is better rather than the opposite. The brightness here seem more correct to what I would expect:

Guess newer is better:

This was reported back in January
Wait what, there was news about this back in January in Swedish media, where as Facebook representatives claimed that these were messages written directly to each others walls (I have facebook, and looking back, I would not talk openly about vomiting, personal issues or anything of that sort). I want to recall Facebook later claimed that the chat function from the beginning was not a real chat, but rather "minifeed" posts which were hidden from the wall (so an update of some sort showed these posts, if they started showing with timeline or prior to that, I do not know). Looking back at the articles right now, I don't actually find any references to media abroad, but rather just swedish ones. Anyway, here are the sources I found (all in swedish, sorry). Origin afaik: https://www.flashback.org/t1763964 (requires login) A post that tries to list the facts among other things (a good read) http://www.joinsimon.se/facebook-buggar-och-din-privata-information-hur-star-det-egentligen-till/ Explanation by Facebooks Swedish representative http://www.idg.se/2.1085/1.425636 And finally from aftonbladet (sensational articles deluxe) http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article14188881.ab Imo, the top three links are the ones worth having a look at.

Re:Sweden in general
Why do you think that the U.S. is the only country that cares about enforcing the copyright laws that were passed by its legislature?
In this particular case I would say that a contributing factor would be that the request to shut down The Pirate Bay came from The White House
If you had bothered to read up on the Pirate Bay case you would have known that the Pirate Bay raid would not have happened if it weren't for pressure from the U.S. Slashdotters are so ignorant indeed. -
Re:Extradition to US
It is especially interesting since here in sweden, there is no reporting about refused opportunities to question Assange in the UK, and there is no talk about why Sweden would not offer guarantees of no extradiction to the US.
Oh there is. By TT. Republished in all major newspapers. I'm somewhat surprised you've missed it.

Re:Hmm...
Read about this on http://aftonbladet.se/ a few weeks ago
..... Same cedebility as the Daily Mail... -
Most likely
this is due to a combination of:
1) Nintendo thinking Scandinavia is a country, and that that country is basically Sweden,
2) Nintendo's legal department being FULLY aware of (possible NSFW coming up) a recent child porn trial in Sweden that has caused significant controversy over the child porn laws here. They define child pornography as any visual depiction of prepubertal individuals or individuals under the age of 18 in sexual situations (i.e. with absolutely no regard to the nature of the "visual depiction" with regard to the involvement of actual children in actual sexual situations).Link in Swedish but basically, a leading Swedish anime/manga authority and highly regarded translator was reported to the police by his disgruntled ex in a flabbergastingly successful attempt to get full custody of his children, he was in fact convicted of child porn crime after they found a handful of manga drawings like the one in the link above, among his collection of literally tens of thousands of graphic novels and drawings.
The picture in the link was among a few which were later deemed by a higher instance of the Swedish courts to not in fact be child pornography, but the guy's name has still not been cleared, his life and career are ruined DESPITE the fact that basically everyone outside of the legal system is claiming to be on his side, and last I heard he's still lost his kids.
Also note that although yes, the age of consent in Sweden is 15, the age of porn is 18.

Re:Nice to get this from slashdot
Why not start with some of the most well known ones? All published a couple of days before
./ Not sure about the printed versions, but DN definitely had the it. DN, Aftonbladet, SvD, Expressen. -
Re:Can someone link the report?
The crime was committed on Swedish water, so apparently it's the Swedes that are supposed to prosecute. The guys even confessed. The prosecutor, when pressured by the journalists about extradition, is quoted saying that he dropped the case because he can't get hold of the two Irish guys, and that they save extraditions for serious crimes like murder.

Just reading up on Wikileaks, I found this stating that their main host is PRQ, a Swedish ISP infamous for hosting The Pirate Bay. So they must be the good guys
:-)They are not hosted by PRQ any more, they are now hosted by another Swedish ISP, Bahnhof, one of the (perhaps The) oldest Swedish commersial ISP (owned by Oscar Swartz, one of the founders of the Swedish Pirate Party).

The rape story again?
Why are we still discussing the "rape" when both the girls denied that he raped them. They may proceed with charges of harassment/molestation which are a different thing altogether. Those charges mean very different things than they do in the US. If I remember correctly what they are currently alleging (or last I read) was that he didn't use a condom when they asked him to, or he took it off after he put it on without telling them or something to that effect. http://www.thelocal.se/28504/20100821 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11049316 http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article7651572.ab

Re:This just in
It might not even be about character assassination. Apparently in the wake of this news Afton Bladet will not be publishing Assanges first article tomorrow as had been planned. What does this mean for his protection under Swedish journalism laws? It could be far more clever than just about making him look bad.
-
Re:Rape? In Sweden?
Looks like this is what happend. At least this is what one of the women are saying at least:
http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article7652935.ab
"– Anklagelserna mot Assange är förstås inte iscensatta av varken Pentagon eller någon annan. Ansvaret för det som hänt mig och den andra tjejen ligger hos en man med skev kvinnosyn och problem att ta ett nej."
Which in a rough translation is :
"- The allegations against Assange are not a plot by Pentagon nor anyone else. The responsibility for what happened to me and the other girl rests solely on a man with a distorted view of women and problems accepting that a 'No' is a 'No'"?
-
Now, I am confident these accusations ARE true
The Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet has just come out with an interview with the other rape victim. You can read it here. Google Translate seems struggle with the duality of the word "sex" in Swedish language (it means both the number 'six' and 'sex'). However, in both cases it is said to be about an act that began as voluntary sex, but later turned to a violent sexual assault. The other woman, the one giving the interview, is not pressing charges of rape, but "molestation" or "sexual assault". He strongly denies that the claims are orchestrated, saying that Assange's "distorted attitude to women" and "inability accept a 'No'" are to blame. The interviewee also said to have left a very detailed report of the events to the police, and wanted to correct the notion that they were afraid of Assange, saying he is not a violent person and they have no reason to be afraid.
-
One of the women interviewed
Apparently one of the women said to Aftonbladet that "it was a man with a twisted view on women and that he couldn't take a no".
http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article7652935.ab -
The statistics would sadly agree
Only in a small African country called Lesotho is more rapes reported than in Sweden. http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article7581764.ab (In swedish but number are universal) Rape reports per 100000 citizens (From 2008) Lesotho: 91,6, Sweden: 53,2, USA: 28,6, Zimbabwe: 25,6, Norway: 19,8 Israel: 17,6

Junk newspaper
Aftonbladet, often nicknamed "Aftonhoran" ("The Evening Whore") is a miserable tabloid of nearly non-existent intellectual value. A typical issue looks more like a prop from the movie "Idiocracy" than a real newspaper from a civilized country.
Even a quick glance at its website clearly reveals its true values (or lack thereof), even to those who aren't native Swedish speakers.
-
You call that simple yet cluttered?
If you call that cluttered, you have obviously never seen the web sites of Swedish tabloids.

Re:A honeypot? Or are they for real?
I'm a member, an activist and a supporter since the same day it was started but I'm not part of the core team.
They had a debate article in the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet today and they have it translated to English here. Basically they say that they will host it until its legal status is clarified. That means until it's clarified legal or when it's not possible to appeal to any higher courts. -
Re:Spotify
And I still wonder if any of that money is actually going to the artists. Because I think they don't see a cent and that that is the main point over actually selling stuff.
There was an article a few weeks ago about swedish artist Magnus Uggla, who apparently is mad as hell about Spotify and isn't going to take it any longer. The article is here (in Swedish). A summary in english is here.
Some basics things: Uggla, who's a reasonably big artist in Sweden, made as much from Spotify as he claims an average busker in the street makes in a day. Sony has bought 6% of Spotify, valued at 2 billion SEK for 30,000 SEK. His conclusion for why Spotify would agree to that deal is that Sony in return lets Spotify get their artists on the cheap. In other words, Sony makes money, the artists do not.
In the swedish article Hasse Breiholtz of Sony Sweden defends the arrangement by saying that Spotify wouldn't exist if the artists would get paid better for now. He says you have to give the legal services a chance to establish themselves first, and later raise the fees to a level where the artists get fairly compensated. -
Re:Why so little outcry vs Israel?
The hubbub is about a article published in the Swedish newspaper "Aftonbladet" on 17th of August this year (link in swedish: http://www.aftonbladet.se/kultur/article5652583.ab) claiming that IDF harvested human organs from palestinians. This caused the israeli foreign minister to demand that the Swedish government condemn the article. The Swedish government responded that they would not due to freedom of press. Thank Gods that US is slowI live in Sweden. A lot of Swedish websites assume that the visitor has a fast internet connection. A lot of Swedish websites sucks ass. Assuming a fast connection and sucking ass has a 100% correlation.
Yes, I have fast broadband. But those sites still sucks.
(And most Swedish sites are only available with the most recent version of Firefox or the two latest versions of Internet Explorer. Many of them present a blank page if you don't use Firefox or IE.)
This is Swedens most popular website (a news paper).
Go make coffe while it downloads.
Try to increase the font size -- haha!
Try to read an article -- Yes, EVERY page has the same amount of garbage. ALL Swedish news sites has that amount of garbage.
Try to navigate the site without javascript.
Try to look at a video in anything but windows -- No you can't. And some news are only available as videos. Then try Swedens most popular finance site. Yes, all Swedish financial news sites looks and behaves something like that. Try to look at that site on a computer with a small screen, like Eeepc.
This page gives information to potential tourist to my part of Sweden (in English). No, it won't be much faster with a fast connection. It's Web2, you need a faster computer. Yes, it only work with Microsoft Web Core Fonts. No you can't make the text bigger. Last year it was still flash dependent and windows only. And yes, it's government sponsored
And those sites isn't half bad compared to most other sites. And they have actually improved, most of the big sites where totally IE dependent a year ago.
And Swedish web developers looove flash. You can't navigate through half of the sites without it.

Imho BodstrÃm suck, it wouldn't surprise me if it's just that BodstrÃms and Folkpartiet got similair ideas, but back when we had Socialdemokraterna in the government maybe they/most of them didn't cared that much because BodstrÃm was one of theirs, but now when Folkpartiet got a similair opinion they have started to care more. What do I know. I to belive both sides would accept it thought.
Most people who know what BodstrÃm wants probably dislike him, I know I for sure do, the problem is that he's popular with the ladies in their 40s:

Re:Here's the BEEF!!!
Yes of course... except...
...when companies making prefab food refuses to declare where the meat is coming from: "/../makes them [the customers] to make the wrong descisions." - said by Pär Bygdeson VP for Livsmedelshandlarförbundet, ie the association for companies making "food". http://www.aftonbladet.se/matvin/karinahlborg/article2039977.ab once again unfortunately only in Swedish. ...when the companies write the country of origin but leaves out the fact that this is the country where the food has been assembled... One popular trick is to "marinate" the meat in salt and sugar. By lowering the percantage of meat to 98% they can claim it's a product and declare the contry where it was "marinated" as the country of origin.
It's not much the government dictate for me, I on the other hand try to dictate that the government should stop stupid crap like this and level the playfield. -

Re:Except it's not the same
And here's what a former Muslim terrorist from Egypt has to say.
Lol, Tawfik Hamid is a publicity hound who charges at least $13K per speaking appearance. The guy's got conflict interest written all over him - any exaggeration just means more money. Plus, his story is more than a little shakey - claiming that he was a muslim fundamentalist who married a non-muslim woman who never converted? That would never fly if he had really been a fundie.
And in Norway and Sweden, most perpetrators are Muslims, and they commit an incredibly disproportionate amount of them. Then there's the issue of culture: is rape a part of Canadian culture? No, but it's a part of Islamic culture. Significant difference.
Another display of islamofreak lack of critical thinking, reinforced by blog group think.
You and your fellow perverts (it's always a sex crime with you islamofreaks isn't it? mohammed's a pedo, muslims are rapists, yadda, yadda, yadda) have made a very large jump from almost half of all reported rapes in Sweden are committed by people who are foreign born to almost half of rapists in sweden are muslim. -
Re:Vote!
In the cases of both Afganistan and Iraq, they now have democratically based government
No, not really. Seriously - both Afghanistan and Iraq are worse off today than they were before the US invasion/occupation. You will however need to switch away from Fox News to learn that truth.
Latest from Afghanistan: The "decency police" is making a comeback. Yes, the one that whipped women on the street who weren't wearing a burka, and that measured the length of men's beards.
Warning, link is in Swedish: http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/nyheter/story/0,2789 ,887350,00.html
The most likely outcome in Iraq now is that it won't survive as a country. The Kurds will get the north, the east will become a part of Iran (which is less of a dictatorship than the US favourite countries of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia btw) and the south might try to do something with the two previously mentioned states (due to the sunni/shia divide). -

MPAA
The MPAA's statement after the takedown of thepiratebay.
Seems like Swedish authorities gave in to the pressure from **AA groups. This may be good as it will put the general public on the side of TPB.
A poll in the largest evening newspaper in sweden shows what people think of the takedown of TPB. The question in the poll is, is it right to "attack" people that are involved in filesharing. Ja = YES and Nej = NO. The results speak for themselves. -
Swedish public not happy about this
(From a Brit. currently living in Sweden) The biggest complaint from most of the Swedish public seems not to be with the morality or legality of what Pirate Bay is doing, but is with the gross waste of public funds being used to pursue a largely unimportant civil crime for which the maximum penalty is only a fine with no possibility of prison. The police in Sweden do not normally get involved in pursuing this type of case leaving it up to the aggrieved party (in this case the Record and Film companies) to bring this up before a civil court themselves. People in Sweden are mighty pissed off that their taxes are being used in this way.
Aftonbladet (one of Sweden's biggest newspapers) has an interesting survey on their website asking "Is it right that the police should crack down on file sharers?"...

Re:TPB shutdown clearly visible in graphs
This has also been reported by various sources in Sweden. These 2 links are unfortionately in swedish but they both mention a 20% drop in traffic after the shutdown.

Nah, no political powerWhat's really interesting about them is the strange political power that they held in their homeland.
I am Swedish and I don't think that TPB has had much influence at all, laws and attitudes would have been just the same if this was an organization outside Sweden. My guess is that the presence of the organisation is simply reflecting current attitudes in general in Sweden today. It is notable that a minister in the socialdemocratic government downloaded mp3s, burned them to CD, and gave it to friend as a birthday present (Swedish article) already in 2000, without seeing any wrong with it.
An explanation to this phenomenon could be a tradition of relatively strong consumer protection laws (and traditions), and that the "personal use" clauses in copyright have always been defended here.

Re:Just a Hoax -- dunno
Yep, also the biggest evening newspaper in Sweden, Aftonbladet, has written about it (at least on their site, Aftonbladet.se the article is in Swedish).

For the benefit of those who don't speak swedish, here's a short summary:
3 people have been arrested, age 22, 24 and 28. They have not been charged, but are taken in because they the police suspect they have violated copyright laws. The persons are directly connected to TPB.org. They are as of an hour ago still under interrogation. 50 police men have worked on the case.
