Re:Sending A Clear Message
Sorry you're missing much of whats gone on.
Start by looking at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/worl... and there are others that start their time line long before this year.
What I want to point out is
2009 January - North Korea says it is scrapping all military and political deals with the South, accusing it of "hostile intent".
2009 is NK giving the world a finger and renewing their effort to get nukes. Before that date you see much plotical strong arming from various countries. After that date what do you see? Not much except for NK progress Nuke and missles.
What we have now is years of failed attempts to control NK. The blame isnt on Trump, hes an idiot, but NK is a problem being handed to him.
We should have been doing this political strong arming back in 2009.
Now NK have nukes and the tech to deliever it. Although I suspect they have or will tunnel a warhead under Seoul. http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/02/...
The armed forces of USA needs to act on behalf of SK and Japan, not just for the USA. For them, NK is a huge risk, they can't afford to retaliate. They also lack the ability to. We are in a posision of put-up or shut-up.
Either NK gets what they want or we stop them.

The US has more than 5 million job openings. If you can afford to be browsing the internet and posting on slashdot, then you can afford a one-way bus ticket to somewhere where those jobs are.
You want a job, but are unwilling to do what it takes to get one. That's expecting a handout.

Amazon and Microsoft make Seattle MISERABLE.
Amazon and Microsoft contribute to making Seattle a MISERABLE place to live. The world, not just Seattle, needs better city management. (Posting this again, with improvements.)
Amazon: Worse than Wal-Mart: Amazon's sick brutality and secret history of ruthlessly intimidating workers (February 23, 2014)
Amazon: Inside Amazon: Wrestling Big Ideas in a Bruising Workplace (August 15, 2015) Quote: "The company is conducting an experiment in how far it can push white-collar workers..."
Amazon: Amazon Under Fire Over Alleged Worker Abuse in Germany (February 19, 2013)
Microsoft: Microsoft Is Filled With Abusive Managers And Overworked Employees, Says Tell-All Book (May 23, 2012) The Microsoft headquarters is in Redmond, part of the Seattle metropolitan area.
Seattle: Together with Amazon, Microsoft, and inadequate city management, Seattle is an extremely miserable place:
Traffic: Seattle one of the worst U.S. cities for traffic congestion, tied with NYC (March 31, 2015) Quote: "An additional 23 minutes a day spent in traffic may not sound like much, but when it adds up over a year it becomes 89 hours." (Whoever wrote that must be accustomed to Seattle misery. An additional 23 minutes a day spent in traffic sounds HORRIBLE.)
Slow internet: Many areas of Seattle have poor internet connections. See the article, These places have the slowest Internet in the country. (June 25, 2015) Quote: "... Seattle ... CenturyLink (CTL) customers trying to access particular sites from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. will have unbearably slow speeds."
Important questions for city managers and residents of Amazon's new city: 1) Do you want to invite a company to your city that has a history of abusiveness? 2) Could the managers of Amazon's new city manage Amazon's growth, or would it be almost completely out of their control? -

Re: The key is not getting caught
Ok, I will play your stupid game
Maybe you remember when Texas local police were called to break up a pool party?
We got a full display of white kids being allowed to leave peaceably, while black kids were chased, tackled and even had guns drawn on them.
It was clear that the officer felt that white lives mattered more than black lives
That is why people felt the need to state that Black Live Matter, because the police (even bad cops) already value white lives.

> (Clinton Uranium deal investigated by the FBI,
No. And shame on you for lying about it.
It was not the "clinton uranium deal" that was investigated. It was a bunch of russians doing kickbacks and money laundering, going as far back as 2004. As for Clinton's involvement, this is what the article says:
Russian nuclear officials trying to ingratiate themselves with the Clintons even though agents had gathered documents showing the transmission of millions of dollars from Russia’s nuclear industry to an American entity that had provided assistance to Bill Clinton’s foundation,
The millions went to a company that also worked with the clinton foundation, but note that the article explicitly avoids saying the millions were passed through to the foundation rather than being spent elsewhere, like aforementioned kickbacks to russians.
Furthermore, whenever the Uranium One deal is mentiond, everybody should remember this key fact: Russia was never given an export license, thus the uranium could never leave the US (and in fact barely any of it even left the ground because importing uranium from abroad is cheaper than mining it here). Here's the official statement from the Nuclear Regulatory Agency:
Neither Uranium One nor ARMZ holds an NRC export license, so no uranium produced at either facility may be exported.
> and Comey wrote the Hillary conclusion months before interviewing Hillary.)
Another half-truth that is a full lie. Interviewing her was basically a formality, especially if you believe the narrative that she's a master manipulator. The FBI investigation began no later than August the year before, 9 months before Comey began drafting the statement. All of the evidence gathered by then was already exculpatory that the writing was already on the wall.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/31/politics/comey-clinton-investigation/index.html
A person familiar with the matter pushed back on the notion that Comey had already reached a conclusion that affected the investigation.
The person said back in spring 2016, agents and Justice Department officials were talking about how the investigation would end and there was a belief that the evidence was going in a direction to not support bringing charges. This individual said by April 2016 the FBI had reviewed most of the evidence and didn't find evidence suggesting that Clinton had violated federal law. The person said the FBI wanted to interview her but didn't believe it was going to change the outcome.
The source also said Comey was not involved in the day-to-day steps of the investigation, so even if he reached a conclusion it wouldn't have affected the result of the investigation.
A second person familiar with the matter told CNN that Comey had not already made up his mind, and that it did not influence the investigation. The second source says the FBI had already reviewed much of the evidence by spring and it was becoming more clear that it was not likely to support bringing charges.> If we can't abide the truth, then we're no different from the media talking heads.
You are different from the media talking heads. You are an unabashedly hyperpartisan liar, they are just poorly informed. You, on the other hand, know the whole truth because it takes exceptional discipline to write out all the parts that don't support your ideology of idiocy.

Re:Easy enough solution
Why wait? Since it's safe, surely they'll have no problem submitting to thousands of chest x-rays right now.
We don't need to do that, we have plenty of evidence already.
But the public has much to learn. Take for example the Mexican Cobalt 60 theft, where the thieves got exposures much much greater than the limits we are talking about. You remember, there were tons of articles about how they were doomed. ("dead men", "doomed", "will soon die", etc) But if you listened to me at the time, I said that was a tremendous over-reaction. The thieves were caught and release with no charges because they were kids and had the crap scared out of them. One of the six had some minor symptoms of exposure, none are expected to have any long term health effects.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/06/...
So, lesson to be learned, don't believe the FUD. Take time to learn about radiation risk on your own, look at the statistics and compare to risks you happily accept every day in life. You'll find better things to worry about. -

You want to use cashiers check or PayPal...
...to send me your life savings?
Actually the hysteria is mounting.
Fixed that for you.
The Russian's hacked power plants storyline was bullshit.
CrowdStrike is bullshit.
The "17 intelligence agencies" line was bullshit.
The Russia hacked election systems is bullshit.find this report by the Director of National Intelligence particularly interesting
Sure, lets look at this - while remembering the FBI wasn't allowed to examine the DNC servers so how exactly would they have "high confidence" in any thing - but this time noting the weasel words:
We also assess Putin and the Russian Government aspired to help President-elect Trump's election chances when possible by discrediting Secretary Clinton and publicly contrasting her unfavorably to him. All three agencies agree with this judgment. CIA and FBI have high confidence in this judgment; NSA has moderate confidence.
Zero evidence provided, only claims and accusations. Well guess what Chem Trailers, Sandy Hook Truthers and Birthers have? Claims and accusations.
Then there's the fact the entire "Russia wanted Trump to win so hacked the election" makes no sense whatsoever. The election was Hillary's to lose, right up until she picked Tim Kaine as her running mate and decided to skip campaigning in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan. So according to the storyline, Putin was crafty enough to dig up dirt on Hillary (which was all true) but dumb enough to collude with someone as dumb as Trump. Which means the CIA, NSA & FBI would know all about it. Which meant Hillary would too, who had already campaigned on shooting down Russian jets in Syria. So what's really going on?
The entire "Russian hacking" storyline is nothing but Swiftboating from Clinton supporters, as she was the candidate who engaged in corrupt collusion with Russian interests to sell a fifth of America's uranium.
And you can skip that Snopes link that handwaives away Hillary's culpability for a number of reasons:
1) Access is corruption
2) Avoiding the appearance of impropriety applies to politicians, not just judges
3) Her own campaign was warned internally that the deal was a political liability for her
4) Hillary flat-out broke her confirmation promises on keeping a wall between the State Department and the Clinton FoundationAt this point, Chem Trailing anti-vaxxer Birther Sandy Hook Truthers have more respectability than Russiagaters.

Here's a shock for you, guns do kill people.
On a side note, concealed carry warning and brandishing probably stops that many robberies, rapes and murders in a week...
Because...you must think that attempted robberies, rapes, and murders are so common that there are thousands a week! What kind of crime-ridden world of fear do you live in?
Americans killed by medical mistakes each year: about 250,000
And we've got a whole group of people arguing about that problem too!
Americans killed by antibiotic resistant bacteria each year: 23,000
Also discussed.
Clearly guns are not that big a threat unless you are an alt left fascist progressive looking to dominate and subjugate the American people.
Nope, guns are a big threat to the American people, what with deaths from toddlers with guns, whereas imaginary fears of alt-left fascist progressives looking to dominate and subjugate the American people aren't a threat at all, except so insofar as they lead right-wing pseudo-conservative trolls to instigate feigned outrage in America.
Every dictator in the last 100 years from Stalin to Mao on down the line disarmed their people first and then murdered millions of them.
Nope. In fact, many dictators armed their people, then told them to go forth and kill "not their people" because well, that's a great way for dictators to keep power.
You must not be familiar with history.
Guns are in fact inanimate objects controlled by their wielder, which is why every LEO in the country carries one.
Guns, are in fact, tools that ought to be regulated like many other tools, such as lawnmowers, chainsaws, pressure washers, and nail guns, and no, not every LEO in the country carries one. For example. And some shouldn't.
Any group that uses "gun deaths" are political shills with no interest in truth.
I wonder if you realize that group includes yourself.
Gun deaths usually include suicides (who just use different methods in gun free countries), criminals shot by police or citizens, and other justified shootings that are actually a good thing for society and end up saving lives.
Nope, actually, they're not using different methods, the suicide rates are often lower, self-defense and other justified shootings are excluded from the counts though actually...the number of such shootings is a problem, not even counting the various incidents.

Microsoft abuse. Why top managers from India?
Microsoft's history is filled with abuse:
One fact about Microsoft under Satya Nadella gives a useful overall view. Windows 10 is possibly the worst spyware ever made. Quote: "Buried in the service agreement is permission to poke through everything on your PC." Nadella has been CEO of Microsoft since 2014.
The management of Microsoft by Satya Nadella seems, to me and many others, UTTERLY incompetent: CNET Editor Rails Against Non-Consensual Windows Updates.
Possibly Satya Nadella was chosen as CEO of Microsoft partly because he was the least socially annoying manager.
Microsoft has a long history of being abusive to everyone, not just customers. Microsoft Is Filled With Abusive Managers And Overworked Employees, Says Tell-All Book.
Ballmer was worse?
Satya Nadella is apparently not as destructive as Steve Ballmer. Ballmer was rated the worst CEO in the United States.
Quote from an article in Forbes Magazine about Steve Ballmer: "Without a doubt, Mr. Ballmer is the worst CEO of a large publicly traded American company today." Another quote: "The reach of his bad leadership has extended far beyond Microsoft when it comes to destroying shareholder value -- and jobs." (May 12, 2012)
Bill Gates still manages Microsoft:
See the Jan. 27, 2017 Charlie Rose TV interview, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. Quoting from the transcript:
08:40 Charlie Rose: How much time do you spend at Microsoft?
08:42 Bill Gates: I'm there about 15 percent of the time. And I get to work just on the R and D part.
Part of "R and D" at Microsoft is Windows 10 putting ads on screens while people are in their offices trying to work. The Microsoft managers who participated in that are amazingly lacking in social ability, in my opinion.
Microsoft's primary location, Seattle, is a miserable place:
Traffic: Seattle one of the worst U.S. cities for traffic congestion, tied with NYC (March 31, 2015) Quote: "An additional 23 minutes a day spent in traffic may not sound like much, but when it adds up over a year it becomes 89 hours." (Whoever wrote that must be accustomed to Seattle misery. An additional 23 minutes a day spent in traffic sounds HORRIBLE.)

CenturyLink (CTL) customers trying to access particular sites from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. will have unbearably slow speeds."
Google is also badly managed.

First, Elon plans to land cargo ships on Mars in 5 years.
Second, Musk's time-line for landing humans on Mars is 7 years.
Third, Musk never said that those people would be alive.
Musk hasn’t yet specified how all those humans will survive once they’ve landed on a world with noxious soil and a suffocating atmosphere.
Fourth, Musk has already created the fastest production car from 0-60, reusable rockets that land themselves, the largest factory in the world, huge batteries, integrated solar roof panels. All this while opening patents and boring a hole for high speed transit. Don't forget how Musk's PayPal changed the way we make purchases.
Just because his time-line is off, doesn't make him a failure. Musk is reaching for perfection and achieving excellence.

Re:Wow!!!!
Exactly this. The U.K. has been working on becoming a full police state for many years now. And every time I point this out I get downmodded here on
/.That's probably because you misunderstand completely. Our poor police are downtrodden and subject to austerity. The UK is becoming a Group 4 security state in which the only freedom the average police officer will have is to rape children and falsely accused foreign students against his will and under the supervision of an elite cabal of bullingdon boys and psychotic robots.
But guess what, the joke's on you, silly Brits. You get what you vote for.
You are assuming some kind of proper democracy where people's votes count equally. Unfortunately there's this thing called the "first past the post constituency system" which means the result doesn't have to match the voting.
The U.S. voted for a clown and got a clown. The U.K. voted for a police state, and got a police state.
Trump votes 46.4% - primary opponent 48.5%. Conservative votes 42.4% Opponents 57.6%. In neither case could the "winnner" be said to have been voted for by the nation. At least in the US you could say that it's possible Trump would have won if he had chosen to target the popular vote, whilst it's clear that would never have happened in the UK.
Definitely both countries have a bunch of voters that need to understand that what they vote for is what they might actually get, however that doesn't mean that the entire country deserves to suffer.

You want to do business in the EU? You are legally required to follow the laws of the EU. Being some whiny American asshole or American corporation doesn't change that.
Look at the BS in your own country before you start braying about everyone else. Your moron of a president just made a speech to the UN about how nations should have their own sovereignty and worry about their own affairs

So, please, shut the fuck up.
Because "anti-administration" and every other bullshit thing your government is doing is tantamount to "papers please, comrade" and trying to outlaw disagreeing with a moron who wouldn't know the truth if it bit him on the ass.
Free speech my ass. America pays lip service to this shit, but is otherwise no longer some shining beacon of freedom.

700 more hams
close to 700 cadets obtaining ham licenses in order to operate a number of Air Force satellites using ham frequencies.
That seems like a nice thing. Given how even today in large scale natural disasters ham operators provide critical communication links to the outside world, having 700 more licensed operators can only be a good thing.

Hockey stick?
geography and climate of Zealandia were dramatically different in the past
How could their climate have possibly changed without SUVs, air-conditioners, and cows with meteorism?

Re:To be fair...
Well I think I'm a centrist (maybe?)
You do realize we can read your other posts, right?
Like that one, minutes ago, where you quote articles claiming they show how "ads were plugging Black Lives Matter, Hillary's widespread support, and similar topics" and "If those messages helped get Donald Trump elected, why are all the Democrats colluding with Russia?".
When the very articles you "source" report COMPLETELY OPPOSITE.
I.e. They were literally posting fake ads in order to defame "Black Lives Matter, Hillary's widespread support, and similar topics".You are soooooo far away from center and into radical right-wing bias that the "right" is on the other side of "Here there be dragons", "Here there be serpents", "Copyright 1891, Confederate Press Ltd." and "FREE sandwich with every purchase" signs of your political map.
You're not even blind. You literally hear or read one thing and understand something completely different.
That's moving beyond delusion and all the way into hallucination territory.http://nypost.com/2017/09/27/r...
Russian internet trolls bought Facebook ads promoting the Black Lives Matter movement to stir up fear and cause political chaos in Baltimore and Ferguson, Missouri, during the 2016 presidential election, a report says.
Sources tell CNN that a Kremlin-backed group known as the "Internet Research Agency" used geographically targeted advertising to fuel political discord in various parts of the US as tensions rose between the black community and police last year.
At least one of the roughly 3,000 ads that the agency bought during the election promoted Black Lives Matter specifically, the outlet reports.
The ad, which was first posted in late 2015 or early 2016, appeared to support the social justice movement - but sources said it could also be seen as depicting it in a negative light.http://money.cnn.com/2017/09/2...
The Black Lives Matter ad appeared on Facebook at some point in late 2015 or early 2016, the sources said.
The sources said it appears the ad was meant to appear both as supporting Black Lives Matter but also could be seen as portraying the group as threatening to some residents of Baltimore and Ferguson.Facebook did not comment for this story but did point to a statement from Facebook's chief security officer, Alex Stamos, who said earlier this month that "the vast majority of ads run by these accounts didn't specifically reference the U.S. presidential election, voting or a particular candidate."
"Rather," Stamos said, "the ads and accounts appeared to focus on amplifying divisive social and political messages across the ideological spectrum -- touching on topics from LGBT matters to race issues to immigration to gun rights."
Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said this week that the aim of the ad-buyers "was to sow chaos."
"In many cases, it was more about voter suppression rather than increasing turnout," he told reporters. -
To be unfair... [Re: To be fair...]
except that it is.. http://nypost.com/2017/09/27/r... Even admitted to by CNN itself, which you can watch live here http://money.cnn.com/2017/09/2...
According to the link you posted, it said that the Russians trolls purchased ads purportedly plugging Black Lives Matter "to stir up fear and cause political chaos in Baltimore and Ferguson, Missouri, during the 2016 presidential election." That was the very first sentence in the link you posted. These ads were not "Democrats colluding with Russia," they were Russians attempting to foment discontent and disruption.
Further down in the link you posted: "The ad, which was first posted in late 2015 or early 2016, appeared to support the social justice movement — but sources said it could also be seen as depicting it in a negative light. “This is consistent with the overall goal of creating discord inside the body politic here in the United States, and really across the West,” explained Steve Hall, former CIA officer and CNN National Security Analyst.... In addition to the BLM posts, sources told CNN that the Russians were pushing ads that promoted gun rights and the Second Amendment — as well as warnings about undocumented immigrants."
In other words, they looked for the issues causing division in America, and hammered on them.

but its easier to think it was all one sided and pro-trump, which goes to the heart of the claimed goal in the first place. To divide and heat up tempers.
Why do you hide behind AC posts? That seems pretty cowardice if you ask me. Grow some balls man..

Re: That gender fluid main character...
What is wrong with the Tammy Lobel case? It appears that she said she was a girl, her parents thought maybe she just made a mistake but she insisted. They sought medical advice, and eventually she started wearing girl's clothing, upon which:
"As soon as we let him put on a dress, his personality changed from a very sad kid who sat still, didn't do much of anything to a very happy little girl who was thrilled to be alive," Moreno said.
http://edition.cnn.com/2011/09...
How exactly is that her parents pushing her into anything, when they initially tried to discourage her?
As for your link, did you read it? There is a 2 year waiting list, that doesn't sound like "front of the queue" or priority over cancer patients. In fact the story doesn't imply that there is any priority given at all, it's about who is allowed to make referrals.

Re:China is going bad under Xi Jinping
Trump talked big game about China during the election, but has done absolutely nothing about China in the 8 months he has been president. Well, I guess thats not totally true he withdrew from the TPP which was formed mostly as a bulwark against China. Not really sure what he is doing, could be that Jared is making too much money off of China, could be that Trump needs Chinese money to fund more irresponsible tax cuts, could be because he is profoundly lazy, probably a combination of those factors.

CNN,US investigators wiretapped former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort under secret court orders before and after the election, sources tell CNN, an extraordinary step involving a high-ranking campaign official now at the center of the Russia meddling probe. Exclusive: US government wiretapped former Trump campaign chairman
Mother Jones
A pair of news reports dropped Monday evening that indicate that the investigation into Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort might be reaching a boiling point, with CNN reporting that Manafort was subject to government wiretapping before and after the presidential campaign, and the New York Times reporting that Manafort has been directly told by government investigators that he should expect to be indicted. The New York Times and CNN Just Published Bombshells About the Trump-Russia Investigation
BBC
Back in March Donald Trump was widely derided for tweeting that President Barack Obama "had my 'wires tapped' in Trump Tower just before the victory". Now some Republicans are crowing that the latest revelations vindicate Mr Trump's accusations.
That's not exactly the case. Paul Manafort was the target of the surveillance, not Mr Trump - although the former Trump campaign chairman has an apartment in Trump Tower. And if Mr Trump spoke with Mr Manafort, then it's entirely possible those conversations could have been recorded. FBI wiretapped Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort - reports
(emphasis mine). You know since Trump owns the building, and it was his campaign Manager targeted, the definition of "my" is certainly broader in that context than in normal usage.
