Re:What do US folk need guns for exactly?
Okay, we'll make a deal. If you can stop your government trying to apply your broken laws to the rest of the world, I'll stop complaining about the US population not fixing them whilst at the same time bragging about how gun ownership means their government can never get out of control.
Nobody ever solved anything with a run-on sentence.
Anyway... Something tells me that you have about as much control over what your government does, that I do. Yea, I know The US government likes to sell the whole "Democracy OMGWTFBBQ!" angle abroad, but the reality of the US political situation is... well, best summed up by a cartoon, as sad as it sounds.
Basically, we get to choose either: the bought-and-paid-for mouthpiece who pretends to be your buddy while ramming you in the tookus, or the bought-and-paid-for mouthpiece who pretends to be the other guy's buddy... while ramming you in the tookus. Thanks to rampant corruption in election politics, it is nigh impossible for a non-millionaire to successfully run for federal office. And yes, the world suffers for it - so, if you, a citizen of the Earth, want to bitch about the US's fucked-up election process and its influence on your culture, by all means do so; but what we keep in our own borders - i.e., the 'gun debate,' driving laws, domestic drone usage - that's none of your damn business, and we thank you to stay out of it.
As for solutions, I would think you would have far more success getting the US government out of your country's business by imploring your own leaders to stop toeing the line every time Uncle Sam says 'jump,' then complaining to American citizens (who really can't do shit about it). My government wouldn't be able to exert so much control over the citizens of other nations, if the leaders of those nations were not complicit accomplices.
Regardless, you can be assured that you will never see me, a US citizen, attempting to influence the politics of any other nation, and I would appreciate the citizens of other nations affording us the same courtesy.

The 3D web has extremely limited uses.
Unless you FORCE the entire web to go 3D like in the Futurama age, things just aren't going to work.
Most websites will just throw 2D content up on 3D canvases and call it a day. That is just going to ruin it.However! This will be extremely useful for those working with Canvas to add 3D. Combined with that, it could be pretty powerful for games and other social applications such as the chatroom style you saw in said episode of Futurama that was essentially just a bar of bits.
On here if anyone missed it.

Re:Look in the mirror:
How EXACTLY is that a troll? you see THIS, this right here, is what has been bugging the shit out of me lately with regards to science, the fact that certain ideas or studies are not allowed because they aren't PC or go against dogma. I thought dogma was the place of religion not science?
In science there should be NO theory that is taboo, none. They should be able to come up with a theory, test it, present their findings and either the scientific community runs further studies that finds those results invalid, inconclusive, or if they are correct then studies should be done to find out WHY those results are the way they are.
I always thought this is how we progress folks. if someone does studies that conclude blacks have lower IQ or there are faults in the AGW theory or whatever they should be treated no different than any other scientist presently conclusions. the community should do further studies to prove or disprove their findings and then we go from there. If it were me and it was shown blacks had consistently lower scores in IQ tests I'd personally want to know WHY that is instead of screaming or playing the racism card which gets us nowhere. I'd instead be asking questions like "Is it the diet? environmental causes? Is it the discouragement of education by certain sections of the black community bringing scores down for the whole?".
But instead we just get the race card and PC bullshit like instead of teaching the uneducated how to speak correctly claiming Ebonics is a legitimate language. sadly the last lines in this this song seems to be the way we are going, with everything sacrificed on the alter of PC. Kinda sad if you ask me that questions can't be asked without screams and pulling the race card even in the scientific community at the start of the 21st century.

They apply the joke to Beck because this is a tactic Beck uses every night. Just keep repeating it, but then say that you're not saying it. Then say it a few more times.
Do you have any proof that Beck didn't rape and kill a girl in 1990? It's a pretty serious accusation. All he has to do is confirm that he didn'tl, right?

Re:So?
Take a nominal production rate from the Deepwater Horizon experience (as it'll be replaced ASAP), multiply it by 365 and then by 33+. That's a lot of barrels of oil and cubic feet of gas produced locally each year that we don't have to depend on less stable countries for.
All oil is bought and sold on the same world market. To the market, there is no 'Saudi Arabian Oil', or 'Venezuelan oil', or 'Canadian oil'. It all goes into one big pool and the market sets the price. It doesn't matter how much or how little we drill. We will always be buying from less stable countries, because those countries produce 2x times more oil than we do. Even if opened up every square inch of our territory to unfettered drilling, we couldn't keep up with the amount of oil we consume.
If oil consuming countries were crackheads, we would be Tyrone Biggums.

As if most public AGW support comes from learned scholarly study and not the recurring Daily Show with Al Gore... Whatever. Re:For everyone who is going WTF who is Glenn Beck
There isn't a real controversy: this one is fabricated, which is the whole point of the parody.
Essentially, Beck is known by one political side in the US for attacking his opponents and challenging them to refute his claims. Sometimes the claims are true, but oftentimes they're not quite true. Even so, they might be true, so he challenges his targets to refute the claims, just for the sake of clearing their name, regardless of the veracity of the claim.
Anyway, if you check the site, it points out the origin of the "raped and murdered a girl in 1990" as being the Bob Saget roast, where Gilbret Gottfried used it as a joke. After that, someone over at Fark used it in reference to Beck. Essentially, it's just taking what he does a step further, but doing it for satirical effect, rather than as a serious accusation against his reputation. It's turning the tables on him with something that's intentionally over-the-top, and then asking him to refute it, just to point out the danger in what he does. -
Re:The problem
So what do you suggest? www.GlennBeckRanARedLightIn1990.com? The problem is that satire, in order to be effective, needs to be outlandishly extreme yet plausible. Eating babies is wrong and offensive, like the idea of Glenn Beck raping and murdering a girl in 1990.
No, Glenn Beck is worse because he gets people to believe false things do to his orating "style". Making a false statement a question, repeating it several times, then slightly denying it, is extremely dishonest and anyone who makes a living off of doing so deserves to be berated.
Also, a little history lesson for you. The site owner didn't just pull the title out of the air. It was a meme first, and the meme was based off of this clip
