Re:People are finally starting to get it
It looks like people are finally starting to get it.
Sorry for the Bush/Iraq reference, but whenever I hear someone say "people are finally starting to get it," I can't help but think about those people who say that "We're starting to make progress in Iraq."

Re:this whle Imus thing is insane
Political organizations on both sides of the political spectrum are monitoring speeches, public appearances, radio and TV shows waiting for the other side to make a mistake.
Not to mention that's the entire model for The Daily Show -
How is this not old news?
Colbert actually had a person from the EFF on the show, which filed a lawsuit against Viacom on behalf of Moveon.org for a "baseless copyright complaint from media giant Viacom." If one watches Colbert and Stewart, they've clearly taken a liking to youtube, enough to mention it in other guest interviews and the casual banter that starts and ends each show.

Re:Fair use is subjective
It is obviously a critical review.
Um, no, it is obviously a parody. It attacks Colbert for claiming to tell the truth, which in turn is his parody of organizations like fox news. Colbert is a joke, and this is a joke on that joke.I am going to venture a guess that you have never actually seen the Colbert Report, or that you never watched the video. What some of his videos and then rewatch the parody. It makes a lot more sense.

To Quote Jon Stewart
Well, Jon Stewart just added Gatorade A.M. to his pantry of fame. The label reads, "Gatorade A.M. helps you put back the fluids and energy you lose during a full night's sleep."
Because, you know, you lose a lot of fluids when you sleep?!
Between the tongue in the ass and Gatorade A.M., I'd probably take the tongue in the ass. -
Seen it
Pft... I liked it better the first time something like this came out, when it was called the Threat Down

Re:ohhhhhhh myyyyy Goddddd!
You're thinking of Denis Leary's Merry F#$%n' Christmas Special. I think it was on last year. They have some clips from the show on the Comedy Central site, but not the segment you're talking about.

How bout cars too...
"A blind person can drive a car with a passenger seat. This allows their companion beside them to help them sight the road, but the blind person can press the peddles and steer."
Only in Texas.
PS. Daily Show covered something similar (can't find the original segment, but clips of it are in the video) -
Re: a Tech Mgr or Mgr of Tech??
Mr. Hirai's company is not selling web site content services, they're selling "small business web site construction for dummies," and they claim their tools have built an impressive 170,000 of them. "Citymax" is only one of 5 or 6 of the brands they control -- check out their "master" website, which is mezine.html. I only saw one typo on the mezine site, and it's a missing space.
What's your beef with "$20 bucks?" Sure, it's odd, but heck, they're Canadians, their heads are split in two anyway. Cut 'em a break.
Finally, he says he's grown the thing from zero to $25M since 1999. And if we believe what he says about how happy everyone is, we should listen very carefully to him. Very carefully indeed. -
Re:Colbert Report
All of this week's full episodes are on comedy central's own site. I got the impression they told youtube to remove the videos so they could test demand on their own site.

Re:Firefox to internet:
I don't get that behavior at all. Typing "Jon Stewart" took me to http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_daily_show
/ index.jhtml. "White House" took me to http://www.whitehouse.gov/ "star garf log par" took me to the Google search results page. It seems better at disambiguation than before... I think something may be broken in your Firefox. Good luck! -
Whoa!
a newly created Pentagon unit has a mandate to fight 'inaccurate' news stories
I guess Jon Stewart had better start wearing a new wardrobe when he does his show!

Re:What happened to "safe harbor"?
This is the part I don't get. Comedy Central itself links to Daily Show and Colbert Report clips on Youtube.
Um, no. Those clips aren't hosted on YouTube. Comedy Central hosts those clips on its own site.

Maybe if we ask nicely...
...comedy central will allow uploads.
Yeah, you're right, probably not.
Only thing I can say as an european is that I will miss greatly my daily fix of the daily show. It was pretty much the only thing which could convince me that you guys over there have not yet gone completely insane.

"...as long as google removes any content when requested by the copyright holder, they are safe legally..."
This is the part I don't get. Comedy Central itself links to Daily Show and Colbert Report clips on Youtube. So who, then, issued the DMCA requests, and why didn't they let the webmaster know?
This makes no sense.

Re:It really does work.
But now you are blaming Apple for failing to pressure Comedy Central without any evidence that they aren't. Ultimately, Apple can't force them to deliver the content. Apple needs the content more than Comedy Central needs the iTunes outlet.
Need a place to leave a complaint at Comedy Central? Not hard to find. Googled the Daily Show, hit two links, and got this:
http://www.comedycentral.com/help/questionsCC.jhtm l
I can understand that the unpredictability of the posting of the show is annoying. It just seems you are stretching as much as possible to place all the blame on Apple, without any evidence that they are not putting up the show as soon as they can get it. It just doesn't make sense that they would sit on these files when they have such strong incentives to get them up ASAP. -
Re:changes on top list
He did leave and now he has his own show which is insanely popular. You probably missed Colbert at the white house correspondents dinner as well. He's made a pretty big name for himself.

Fool's Gold
The last time /. posted on Futurama coming back, it was a hoax. I suggest you all keep your cool until 'Comedy Central' posts a on it's site.
On that note, I would personally love for Futurama to return but I won't get my hopes up. -

He was on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart before starting his own show, the Colbert Report. -

Watch it, enjoy it, believe it
It is really worth the watch. Colbert starts about 40 minutes into the video. Get the torrent or watch it on youtube (part 1, part 2, and part 3). If you haven't seen the Colbert report - it is quite good. Comedy central has a bunch of videos up - my favorite is the "know a district" ones.
The Colbert Report is really high quality political humor, like the Daily Show with Jon Stewart - it is funny because so often it is true. -

Re:in other news

I thought the point of it was to keep these sort of people who post there contained within one URL so we don't accidently end up on them.
Although the dailyshow best summed it up...

Re:DRM is Unnecessary
I agree with your Britney Spears comment, but the "bigger picture" is what I was looking at, and I think you missed: people want to buy what they know, what they like. They don't know this stuff. That's not to say they wouldn't like it, but unless they know it (i.e. hear it on the radio, etc) they aren't going to like it... because they aren't given the chance.
Plus, that was about the 10th "ew anything mainstream is garbage" thread I'd read and I am sick of the smug vibe I get whenever the issue of DRMed music comes up... inevitably it always turns into a few people who have an agenda against popular music talking about all of the ways to get "real" music without the DRM. -

Wrap-It-Up-Box
