I find the best way to wipe a harddrive is to defraggle the motherdisc.

If there's too much wax afterwards, you can always use some Svinto to remove the excess wax.

(You can substitute a Brillo pad if Svinto isn't handy.)

I prefer to clean mine at the carwash... the only problem is that it's a bit hard to find Svinto in the United States.

The minimizing tutorial is also very helpful. I never realized that I cut just saw off those wasteful parts of my motherboard and fit the whole thing in a much smaller case!
