This site seems to have the kind of information that the submitter needs.

Defraggle your motherdisk
This guy does even better in his classic article describing how to Defraggle your motherdisc!.
-
Deja vu...
I know I've seen this before somewhere.

Oldie but a goodie
-
Re:Data Eradication / the Nuclear Option
I find the best way to wipe a harddrive is to defraggle the motherdisc.
-
Re:Waxed?
If there's too much wax afterwards, you can always use some Svinto to remove the excess wax.
-
Just defraggle it!Defraggle your motherdisc!
(You can substitute a Brillo pad if Svinto isn't handy.)
-
Don't worry about erasing it...
-
Re:Wiped out by a virulent disease from unsanitary
I prefer to clean mine at the carwash... the only problem is that it's a bit hard to find Svinto in the United States.

Re:Simple!
Defrag it. Works every time
:) -
You can add the dockyourself!
Just use your datagrinder!
-
Re:Gravity
Depends how high up you drop it from....
Most Linux systems crash just as fast, and just as often as Windows in this manner.
No no.. see windows gets more disk clutter, so the hard drive weighs more, therefore it will fall faster...
Here's how you can fix your heavy hard drive.

Defraggling is the Key
There is a fairly comprehensive procedure for Defraggling your Motherdisc here. Good Luck!

Old
Well, if you buy one of these, dont forget to double the space and increase the speed!

C'mon, guys! Not only is this an ancient, ancient dupe but no one has linked to Datadocktor'n's great tutorials on how to defraggle your motherdisc (with steel wool) and upgrade your graphics card, again with steel wool.
And in the "Not kidding" department there are the ads in the Boston subways for some tech certification school that features a woman in a fleece top and a red fleece hat (like Meg on Family Guy) working on a motherboard. Apparently they misunderstood what the "Red Hat" in RHCE stands for, but I'm glad that's not my system she's working on.

Re:This could be very interesting for musicians
Not true! This is valid information on how to improve your computer!
For other great advice, check out Datadocktorn (approx. "The Computer Docktor"). They have great guides on how to make your computer plenty better. Especially check out the disk defraggle section. The minimizing tutorial is also very helpful. I never realized that I cut just saw off those wasteful parts of my motherboard and fit the whole thing in a much smaller case!

telling me to Dremel my hard drive
For another Dremel-induced hardware modification, check out this guide to changing a video card.
I can't say I've tried it because I haven't. Heck, even if I had tried it, I might not admit the fact.InitZero
