Re:Chicken or Egg?
That is very pleasant. That's been my primary way of using a computer for many years, this one excluded (retina screen is too nice to shut away). If you want to use an external display you want your tablet to be playing the role of a wacom tablet. You draw on the laptop to induce changes on the screen while the screen exists for ease of reading things too small on your laptop. More how artists have liked to interact (ex: http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2013/120/9/7/new_wacom_cintiq_13hd_acquired_and_hooked_up__by_jenniferkitty20-d63o5vf.jpg) then how business systems were setup.
There are going to be lots of hardware solutions in the future for desktop. But the focus right now is on laptop. People who use good laptops to power good desktops are mainly Mac users now. You all are a small niche and a small niche that has been dropping your spending since 2000. So if your target is which laptop system works best today with today's desktop hardware... I don't think there is much question about Mac at a high price point or Windows 7 at a low price point.

What will happen then, when the computer we build is 100x or even 1,000,000x more capable than our brain ?

Here's a good visual of that concept.

You just can't trust those cows. I mean, cows have people trained in India to starve before they will consider eating a cow. Cows are smarter than we give them credit for.

Indeed we are. Releases from the permafrost are just gone, no way to get them back until the next ice age.

Re:What?
So, Apple should have just put a lens cap on it instead of a purple color adding cap? Nobody wants "high-end digital-camera-quality (whatever this means what is digital camera quality?) images" with it. They just want accurate photos without the addition of a purple flare. I don't get your statement. Hey, there's a purple flare on light sources. Should have bought a digital camera if you wanted high-quality photos. Are we talking about the same problem here?
You say "just" "accurate photos" and "without purple flare" like these are easy things to achieve? You realise that many DSLR lenses suffer from chromatic aberration and lens flares too? This isn't because they suck (though some do more than others)... It's because optics is an inherently difficult thing to do well, and optics in a teeny tiny space is an impossible thing to do well. People keep saying "so why doesn't this happen with other phone cameras"... the answer... it does! here are a few examples

Re:Welcome to the free world
The great idea of the free market at work.
Private company decides what I can see (MAFIAA)
Private company says what is a crime (Facebook)
Sentenced up by private bought laws.
They can then trow me in a private owned prison. We have become mere serfs of the new kings of the new castles. And we all want it.
So this is how liberty dies. Not with a bang, but with thunderous applause.

Perhaps the citizen answer is to make bulky glasses fashionable... glasses that have big flanges at the bridge.
Replace the red LED with a big IR LED, and go grab some cupcakes!

Re:MLP wrapping paper
Different Anonymous Cow^H^H^HPony chiming in, but seeing as how MLP's become a Cambrian explosion of geekdom these days, I'll chip in with a mashup based on a Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas crossover, and Discord playing the role of Krampus.

Re:Microsoft fanfiction.
There are official MS OS Anime personifications, and there have been for quite some time.
I see that although you are not new to the net, you are new to this topic, so I'll link you to one list of the OS-tans. I'm sure you'll have no problem finding the other less NSFW places yourself to see more and better quality pics/fics, if you are so inclined...
There is indeed slash fiction. I read one not too long ago about XP-tan having an affair with Windows7-tan, Vista-tan was quite upset (her abandonment issues surfacing yet again); The always compassionate Linux-tan tried to console her, but it made the needy OSX Leopard-tan very jealous (apparently consoling a rival is a grave transgression on her home planet).
There are OS-kuns (males) as well... My girlfriend told me of the new yaoi slash she was reading where OSX-Kun fell in love with the heroic and savage XP-kun who had rescued him from the lair of the evil scientist Dr. Mac-Defender. In the heat of their passion OSX-kun had unknowingly infected XP-kun with a virus; Thus, both OS-kuns were soon on their way to see the comically bungling Dr. Norton-kun.
Fear not my friends, Rule 34 can not be denied.

Re:Broken? More like fixed.
But then you have large corporations who live across state boundaries. They want laws as consistent as possible, because one state requiring all egg cartons to be in only english and another state requiring all egg cartons to be also in French makes it maddeningly difficult to manage your inventory without tons of waste. This means that the federal government needs to set baselines on things like "What kinds of plastics are legal to sell in the US" so that you don't have small businesses in Montana eating the cost of stock from a middleman in Detroit because the tent lining from China was made to Texas materials standards.
Individual states having separate money systems would also be maddening. Healthcare and car insurance are largely regulated at a state level, and as someone who changes locations frequently those state-to-state changes are tremendously inefficient.
I don't disagree that the Federal Government is much larger than it should be right now, and that it needs to become a bit more fiscally responsible. But at the same time, as business and manufacturing have shown us, there are a lot of efficiencies in having one set of rules to follow in an area.
