Another recent interesting eBay auction...
In other eBay news...
Bids are currently at $65,000 for 867-5309 in NYC. -
cell jammer dealer linksThis thing would make a hell of a badass business gift, better than a box of Cubans. Men like control, to feel like God, and forbidding anyone near you from using their phone is quite empowering. And the more people who own these things, the happier I am. Am I the only one who doesn't own a goddamn cellphone?
Anyway, if any of you are fixin' to buy one, I've collected some links:
eBay cell jammer search, 20mw

Re:$849??
Well, if that's too much, and all you are interested in is a PDA running Linux, take a look at this auction. $194.95 buy it now for an sl-5500.
Note that's for a new in box, $19.95 ship/hand, +$4 if you want insurance. (I presume that's in the US) 8.65% tax to NY residents.
Note I have not bought either of my zauri from this vendor, so I can't vouch for his or her credibility. Looks like a good deal though. -
It burns! It burns!
I don't know about anyone else, but I am so NOT laying that beast on my lap. I don't care how good the games are, it's not worth scalding my boys.

I would go see the movie...
But I don't want anyone thinking I'm a Robosexual.

Okay so I feel sad I am the only person on ebay doing just that.... I can feel the bad karma already. And I will roll up a fedora test release in a few days time.

Big trackballs.
If all you need is a big trackball, there are two products that come to mind:
* Microsoft Easyball
* Crayola Kids PC Trackball
* Infogrip BigTrack
The Easyball would have been most suitable (as it was huge - I remember seeing one in the store, there are a few pictures here), but that and the Crayola trackball are no longer being sold as far as I know. From pictures, the BigTrack looks like the exact same model as the Crayola one. Although both are smaller than the Microsoft trackball, you can still buy the BigTrack direct from the manufacturer for $80 (link above, although I think that's at least $30 more than the crayola trackball was selling for).
Of course, you might still be able to find an Easyball on Ebay or Froogle
However - neither of these might be suitable for the purposes you're thinking about. They're plastic devices made for kids, not necessarily designed to be smashed around by grown adults as the arcade devices are. -
I love this one so much I'm selling it!
Seriously, this is the best one ever! Hurry up, less than 24 hours to bid!

Re:Bill Gates and the Handheld TRS-80
Note that these are some of the machines being referred to. I am not selling any of this particular gear, just putting it out as reference to possibly interested others. Watch for Model 100 gear on eBay, it's fairly common as it is/was a popular machine. These aren't the lowest priced listings I've seen. It's damned bombproof hardware, and in some people's opinion, the first laptop PC.

Re:Laserdisc
...but I think the Star Wars Laserdiscs are very pricey. -
Re:Buy a GameCube?
If you were willing to buy used games, you can often save a fortune on them. One of my friends has very good luck with buying games on ebay. (hopefully that link will work) Used games can often sell for under $20 even.
Or you can always do things like check for used games at places like EB, or your more local game shops. Other than that though, I do agree that the games are expensive. But they are worth going for if you ask me. $100 for the console itself isn't a bad price, and they've got games that you won't find anywhere else. So I'd give it a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed. -

It's just a matter of time before the Brits compile the most sensational video into a popular Reality TV show on BBC. Which means that it will be coming to America soon.

Not even worth the effort
You can pick one of these up on eBay for 25 bucks. In fact, I'm sitting in my school's library right now typing on the one I bought last week. Highly recommended; it worked out of the box in XP and (shockingly) Fedora Core 1. As in plug and play.
Man we've come a long ways since Slackware 96 :) -

a fool and his money are soon parted.
fucking incredible how lucky some assholes get. Set aside, say, $2000 to spend on some nice things for yourself, and SAVE the rest of the money in your bank account. You'll thank me later.
Or you could spend the whole $7000 on a pre-owned souped-up Chevy Tahoe from eBay motors. You probably drive a shitty car now so why not upgrade? The ladies love the SUVs. Whatever you do, don't waste it on your fellow tenants/the landlord. -
Re:Why did they leave out ...
Yes, the submission should probably read 'Current x86 Processors Tested with Linux', but in reality the vast majority of individual Linux boxen will be using x86 based hardware so I don't think it's that big of a deal.
Having just had my first experience running Linux on something other than an x86, I was curious too.
You can blame it on this very forum - after reading the article I bought an Ultra 5 on EBay and loaded Debian on it last night. Installed most of the packages over my ADSL connection. Worked like a charm.

Re:the needed patch
What's fun is when you set your global prefs to 'Non-Microsoft' in XP in the Set Program Access and Defaults section.
IE goes away, which is a Good Thing most of the time, except for when you really do need to do something on a Redmond websits.
Clearly, they aren't testing their site against Foreign Browsers, nor do I think they should have to. However, it's now a right PITA to reset everything to use IE.
But wait!
Even though C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe isn't exactly visibile in either the explorer or at a command prompt, that critter is still there!
Lighting off cygwin,
cd cygdrive/c/Program\ Files/Internet\ Explorer
ls -ali still has the subtlety of Cassius Clay
You can set a shortcut to IExplore.exe, and still use it to get to Mr. Softy's content.
I guess this is Mr. Softy complying with the anti-trust suit, so, in the main, it's a Good Thing.
However, what troubles me is the blurry line between the OS and the applications.
It is so refreshing to know that, in a linux environment, there is no ambiguitiy about what files are where, and what processes are running. All hail the text-based configuration file. w00t. -
THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE EBAY SHITLIST
THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE EBAY SHITLIST: policeangel
Do not buy from her. She sent me one broken motherboard, and when I told her, she sent me a new one OF THE WRONG SOCKET TYPE. This took almost a month to resolve. So I basically said "fuck this, this is not worth my time or my $50" and left negative feedback. I'm almost certain she is some disjointed old biddy from Florida (judging from the e-mail exchange and the return address from Boca Raton) so I don't think she can be trusted. Check her feedback, there are several others who got wrong items. -

Re:Ask her first.; 3 minutes!? Dating Guide maybe?
Speaking as a computer geek, and a geek who has had girlfriends, I find it strange that a guy wouldn't want to talk to his girlfriend on the phone for more than 3 minutes. Sure, after working helpdesk a bit, you might learn to hate the phone, but surely they want to share news with her? The writer does have things to talk about other than his Ultrakill in UT, or conquest in Diablo II?
Perhaps he need to look at my new Dating Guide I wrote yesterday. I think it might become an eBay best seller [for me anyway]. -
Re:why buy for 49.95....
when i can get it for 15$ on ebay?
It's a collectors item - in addition to all the second hand $15 copies on eBay, it's still possible to see a unopened mint-condition Freespace2 go for over US$80.
Here is an example from Jan 6 this year, where it went for US$92.

$10,000+ for the cease and desist!?!Unbelievable! I can't fathom spending $100 on something like this, especially when the kid caved in for a friggin xbox and a MCSE certificate (or whatever it was).
I'm not sure what will become worthless first...the WIPO book or SCO stock but either way this just has to be the biggest waste of money I've ever seen!
I didn't read the article to see if a link was there but here it is again

So much for the exclusivity of Orkut...
Dozens of invitations are already up for sale on
E-Bay and can be had quite inexpensively, it would appear. -
Re:Business plan
Also:
1) get invited to (and join) Orkut
2) sell invitations on E-Bay
3) PROFIT!!! -
Re:Orkut
Orkut is actually just a scam designed to fleece unsuspecting Internet users out of money. The record so far is $11.00.

Re:Familiarities
I don't have a link with the exact wording as proof that attach rate does not include bundled games, but I am just using common sense, as Microsoft started ringing the church tower bells about how great their attach rate was very soon after the console was released, back when no games were bundled.
Yes, you're right that Xbox currently includes the 2 games you mentioned, but I believe they're on the same disk, so if you're counting those as 2, then the Zelda disk with Gamecube should count as 5, since it includes Legend of Zelda, Adventure of Link, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and Legend of Zelda: The Windmaker. -

Re:use a search engine spell checker
weird. ou'd think he'd refer people to ebay's own dictionary section

Who cares?
What if it really was a Plam Pilot, like maybe some weird knock-off Palm from Vanuatu or something?
Not if it has a picture of the thing, as in this one: Listing for a "Plam." You can clearly read the "Palm" for this device.
Bad spelling really turns me away from these things... Even though there's no real connection between spelling and intellect, it is very hard to read poorly crafted prose and respect it if it's badly written.
Actually, research shows that in languages like English, transposed inner letters have very little effect upon readability. In fact, such errors present great difficulty in proofreading because the human brain tends to correct the errors "on the fly." So for such errors, there is little effect upon "readability."
As for your inability to respect anyone who commits typographical errors, that's your prerogative. Personally, I'd rather take advantage of them on ebay by purchasing items at lower-than-normal prices.

Re:Bah... Big Company Mechanics
From your own link:
"A trademark is protected when the law allows the mark owner to stop competitors from infringement by these confusingly similar marks."
Duh! Thank you, Captain Obvious. How come you didn't notice that this was the whole point - whether Mike was infringing on Microsoft trademark or not. But if you think that it somehow follows from this sentence that MS was in danger of losing the trademark, you are dangerously delusional. And if you also have memory problems, let me remind you that the topic we are discussing is whether the company can lose a trademark as a result of others using similar names or not.
Your attempt to personalize the debate by inquiring about my employment status is rather pathetic.
You might want to check out this ebay auction (and this one as well, while you are at it).
My question about your employment status just follows your derogatory remark about server room (actually it would only be derogatory if there was anything bad about working in a server room and if I actually worked there - none of these requirements is met). Apparently, that was too subtle for you.
Now go away and come back when you can come up with something better than a lame-ass wiki link that does more to prove my point than your own.
Could you point me to the part of the HTML specification dedicated to NON-LAME-ASS links?
Your point ("if a company does not actively protect it's trademarks and tradenames then it can actually lose the legal right to them") was disproved in every post I made in this thread. I think it is you who should find some proof instead of throwing insults left and right. Or may be you should quit your well-paid job and actually get some basic education. Or ask one of your kids to read my posts and explain to you in very simple terms why you are wrong. -

Did a search on "keyboard has more buttons than I know what to do with" - in 'in titles & descriptions' link. Returned womens suits, Palm Pilots, and laptop docking stations. Strange.
