Are you sure about that?
It's my understanding that Goatse postings are one-off affairs, caused by Slashdotters newly infected by the loser virus. Usually this virus runs its course in short order and the unfortunate victim recovers with a shred of dignity intact, but those chronically afflicted get bored with Slashdot and move on to other things, like alchoholism, drug abuse, and eventually living on the streets. These are the very people that give most honest homeless people a bad name.

Re:Why pay 3600$ fo this...Not anymore now that you've gone and jinxed it jackass. Everyone knows that the moment someone states it should be a meme it automatically is disqualified. So now you've gone and ruined it and what could have been an amazing meme is now little more then a goddamn POS that will be forever copy and pasted by people who don't know any better.

How do these things get to 5?
"...and that is the sole extent of Anonymous's agenda to date..." Anonymous as an organization has a long history of attacking institutions that foster unwarranted self-importance, and new-age mystics peddling superpowers are simply the latest permutation the collective will has bent itself against.

Re:Dude,

WTF are you talking about?Considering recent events it does not seem likely that "Anonymous" would do it - their campaign is meant to expose CoS's alleged misdeeds; an altruistic motive. Blaming "Anonymous" doesn't make sense in this context. Really, what the fuck are you talking about?
You are trying to use "Anonymous" like someone else would use GNAA or Trollkore.
Don't. You can't. It hurts to see you try and fail.
The people who went after the CoS coalesced from the same people who troll, grief, raid and generally try to make life on the internet miserable. Did you already forget that they started out with a DDoS attack on the CoS website?
Anonymous is the online equivalent of a race riot.

Re:Not the peaceful activists.A msg from Anonymous", no pretentious douchebag or group thereof to set in stone what Anonymous is and is not about."
"anon is not your personal army.",
"Anonymous is devoid of humanity, morality, pity and mercy."
you have no right to say what is and what is not condemned by anon. This prank was an epic win that created many lulz. for that alone, even if it was done as a misguided attempt at sabatoge it was a success in the eyes of all Anons who lold. Anon does whatever the fuck it pleases. you cannot attribute ideals to anonymous. conversely you also cannot say an action goes against the ideals of anonymous for when you do, you are no longer talking about anonymous. http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/Anonymous
Rules you have forgotten:
Anonymous is the only page on encyclopedia dramatica that takes herself seriously.
Anonymous is devoid of humanity, morality, pity and mercy.
Anonymous works as one, because none of us are as cruel as all of us.
Anonymous exploits all weaknesses and flaws.
Anonymous doesn't have a family or friends.
Anonymous is not your friend.
Anonymous does not hurt children or animals.
Anonymous is not your personal army.
Anonymous is in control at all times.
Anonymous does not accept failure, Anonymous delivers.
Anonymous has no identity.
Anonymous cannot be betrayed.
Anonymous obeys the Code.
Anonymous does not wear fanny packs.

Re:From TFA...Oi. Garfield is still hilarious - if you remove the eponymous cat... Encyclopedia Dramatica's page on Garfield (especially the gallery of Garfield reworkings) has more stuff in that vein. Some of it is crap (Jon f****s his cat, yawn), some of it is good.... much of it is very strange. (Oddly, some of the strangest stuff is also the funniest- or maybe that's just my sense of humour. Especially the running gag about the "eyes".... WTF?!)
It says a lot that this stuff is more interesting than the actual cartoon strip has been for at least 15 years. -

Re:Oblig.IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND! is a meme started from the annie may Dragon Ball Z, where characters would use scouters to detect power levels. It was cuntpasted many a time for the win. No topic goes without it. It's worth noting that in the original man gay, Vegeta noted Goku's power level as being "over 8000", "9000" is a product of Funimation Faggotry.

Re:Jeff Merkey and lawsuits
In that suit Merkey also named Slashdot as a defendant, along with a number of posters from several SCO-related public forums. One of those was Al Petrofsky, the guy who runs SCOfacts.org and right now, bless his heart, is making himself a pain in the ass for SCO in their bankruptcy case. The Merkey suit is thoroughly documented at SCOfacts, under Jeff Merkey, Litigious Lunatic.
The Encyclopædia Dramatica has an, ahem, interesting entry on this Merkey character.
Merkey is a kook AND an asshat. Being sued by him seems to actually be a voucher for one's credibility. Sad, really.

*eyeroll*
None of the people they terrorized were "everyday people". Not that there hasn't been collateral damage. But the targets of lulz are, generally speaking, asking for it. You never hear why Anonymous attacks anybody because that doesn't make sensational news and the affected users who have blogs don't reveal their own faults. Keep in mind that the activation energy of Anonymous is very high and people spend weeks trying to make the case to get an invasion going. The usual response is "We're not your personal army".

Re:Fox expose on "Anonymous" from last summer
I can't believe I'm helping a scientologist here because I'm fundamentally against the organisation, especially after a couple of people I knew joined it and were definitely not better off (the xenu.net kind of stuff), but I also believe that everyone deserves respect and the opportunity to learn, even those that I so here goes:
Fox News, as well as you, are severely misinterpreting what "Anonymous" is. In one way Anonymous is the collective term for people posting anonymously on the internet. In another way Anonymous is simply the idea of anonymity bringing a lack of accountability. That's pretty much it. When someone claims they represent "Anonymous" they are pretty much having you on for fun.
The idea came out of the *chan boards. 4chan's /b/ board mostly. The culture around it has spawned more than a few memes. Read this for more info, though it's meant as comedy: http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/Anonymous -
Re:A guarantee
Hello Kitty shirts, Gas masks
Rather er, interestingly, that photo was on the front page of news.com.au, but they had to censor out the word "CULT", apparentely on the advice of their lawyers... (Of course, I don't blame them, considering the CoS's past behaviour.) I can't find the image in any of the stories now, but it's still on their servers. -
Re:A guaranteeThe current headcount for the protest is still less than 9000. The largest single protests appear to be averaging around 500 anons (London, Los Angeles). For a local community protest these would be reasonable numbers, for a globally coordinated targeted protest - it is absurdly small. all while still pulling fairly ridiculous numbers I would agree if you intended "ridiculous" as in "laughable"...

Oh noes!
Being rik-rolled and treated to renditions of the fresh prince of bel air theme song is nowhere near comparable to being persecuted.
Why would you make such a comparison? -
Re:A guarantee
How do you guarentee it's accurate.
It's a religion; therefore, I guarantee it isn't accurate.
Until you can answer the question of what was there before the big bang, and what was there before that, and what was there before that, ad infinitum, that is a debatable statement.
Regardless, Anon is not against the religion of scientiology, but rather the church of scientology (see here). To quote that website:The CoS is harmful to society, and to its own members. Its institutional purpose is, as stated by its founder, its own prevalence and expansion, mainly in an economic way. It considers the religion, the belief, the faith to be not an end, as it should, but a means, a mere tool. Indeed, it is degrading towards its own religious base and all those who believe in it.
This humiliating manipulation alone is enough to consider it insulting at best, malign at worst. But its crimes do not stop there. It has attacked freedom of expression routinely; it has attacked freedom of religion by going against those who follow the faith but not the institution; it has attacked freedom of movement, of association, of thought.
Furthermore, it has attacked the right to life, the right to the pursuit of happiness, and all other fundamental human rights.
As an outsider looking in (as of now, I may attend the Ides of March protest), I think its an extremely interesting phenomenon. Watching news reports about anon or reading online news articles about the protests from the press gives me the sense that no one who is reporting on this (outside of practially Anon itself (ie wikinews)) has any idea of what is really going on. The fact that a bunch of (essentially) computer nerds from global internet websites such as 4chan, digg, ebaums, something awful, and probably many other sources have essentially banded together for a common cause through a decentralized network of group leadership and manages to make the news through their protest amazes me. The fact that they are able to do so while wearing V for Vendetta masks, Hello Kitty shirts, Gas masks, and looking generally nerdy all while still pulling fairly ridiculous numbers makes me swell up inside with nerd pride (hey that rhymed). -
