Re:Lojack for Laptops...
Pfft, backdoors?
Here's a case that has a back door, a front door, and windows, too!

I have the safest one around...
A 1997 Compaq Armada 1530 without webcam/usb/nic/wifi/bt/whatever. 33.6kbps modem for connection to the outside world unless you add up a pcmcia device.
Oh, and it has cd-rom and floppy, battery lasts a few seconds and has mmx technology.
I'll make you a good price.

Re:Han shot first...
Does that mean Spielberg is going to retouch Jurassic Park to add feathers?
No, but the Jurassic Park 4 seems to get it right. -
Re:I love cheap RAMAnd it just keeps getting cheaper. Pretty soon, I expect Kellogg's to start stuffing a couple of gigs into boxes of Froot Loops.

Re:Obligitory
Sure it does
I was going to go take pictures of it myself (I drink one of those pouches a day, almost), but it's easier to find it on the internets
This is exactly what it looks like, I have 2 of those bags downstairs (and a few empty ones I haven't taken out of the fridge yet)
The little thing on the bag is to cut open the milk, most pitchers have little holes specially made to fit the little clip on top
I also found this image. Tee hee. (Again, that's exactly as you find it in stores today). I think this is what others refer to as 'full cream' milk (not skim/1|2%/low fat)
There's a bit of a tribute site here but it's pretty old (based on what the bag of milk looks like).. The person also really sucks at cutting the hole, it usually comes out much nicer if you do it right
P.S. I believe British Columbia may use the jugs, Ontario uses the bags (which is why I was bothered by California's milk, which comes in jugs, I'm used to the bags)
P.P.S. In Australia, the norm is 'full cream' milk, and 2% (which is the norm here in Ontario) is not too normal there, another difference in milk I've experienced in the world -

Re:Again, probably a non-existent terror plot
My god you're right!
No, really. I mean, we all know reality famously has a well-known liberal bias. -
Re:I knew it was illegal!
English! - Samuel L. Jackson said it best.

Re:the first 'christian' virus?
Why the Christians, necessarily? A more likely culprit would be PETA, trying the protect all those cute fluffy kittens from the hand of a wrathful God.

Here is a screen shot...
Right here. I kind a like what google has been doing better though.

Re:The only thing you need...
Don't you think that some people haven't heard of $cientology and would like a copy of The Way To Happiness, some "feel my finger" massages or amazing Elronic curing powerz. Oh and there's these courses that people can sign up too if they have money...

Re:Living the lie
That is the pitfall of having a business that brokers a constitutional right.
Uh huh, so newspapers (which broker speech) have no right to refuse advertising they find offensive? Nice try.
You could possibly have a legal reason to refuse to sell someone a gun, but if it's not one of the clearly defined reasons, you're gonna get rocked in a court house.
Do you have any link to substantiate that? I don't think so. (That NRA page you keep linking absolutely doesn't qualify. As has been explained, it mentions laws PROHIBITING sale, not OBLIGATING it)
If you do, then please forward it to Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose organization is refused as a customer by Barret firearms. -
Re:McDonalds security is no laughing matter
Don't worry, that threat has been eliminated.

Re:Less is not more?
I keep hearing these bizarre generalisations on what constitutes the 'Linux user interface'. Above you say:..And Linux has a terrible user interface..
First off, Linux is not a 'thing', or a product. Some argue this is part of Linux's 'problem' (I call it an advantage). Not being a singular product, it doesn't have a singular user interface. Thankfully it provides a bunch of blocks from which you can build your own. Some people also think this is fun.
Here is the 'Linux User Interface' of a person that switched from OSX to Linux, and obviously missed the look and feel of Aqua.
Here is another Linux desktop. This Linux desktop is also popular with many users also.
I'm curious, what is this Linux 'user interface' you talk about? -
Re:Location?
1. Of course, you're right, it's simply not possible to take a clear picture of a fast-moving object like, say, a race car, an airplane, or a bullet.
2. When landing, their engines will be throttled back, and therefore much quieter than usual. Also, ever heard of earplugs?
3. First you have to get the terrorists and their rocket launchers TO the beach without being noticed. Might be kind of hard considering it's a popular tourist spot on a small island in the middle of the Caribbean. -
Re:Water spectacular?!
Oops. Messed up the image link. Here is the correct one.
-
Re:Water spectacular?!
Actually, this isn't much of a spoiler considered the thing was shown in the trailer released in March. The fish people are performing a type of ballet that Palpatine and Anakin attend. This is in the trailer where Palpatine says, "The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural." Anakin then asks if it's possible to learn those abilities.

Re:I've been testing it...
I put an old version on Imageshack (http://img120.exs.cx/img120/2130/filtersetgtxt6j
z .gif)
It's not far from a hack, but oh well... Download the gif, open it with a text editor (even Notepad can read the file, even though it'd be easier with a good text editor, like SciTE or JEdit), get rid of the garbage GIF data, import into Adblock, congrats on being a brand new Filterset.G user -
Re:I would find this useful...
Since that was a fairly bad explanation, here is an image (I'm too lazy to finish it). That would be holding left and pressing square. Some combination of chars in each box could be like abcd, efgh, ijkl, mnop, qrst, uvwx, yz12, 3456, and 7890. You could have puncuation and other things with L1 and R1, but you know nobody uses puncuation on IRC anyway.

Re:Screenshot..That wasn't a thumbs up record. http://img58.exs.cx/img58/9083/screen30cd.jpg as this shot shows what it jumped to.
I just saw that they don't think it'll be coming to the Series 1 Tivo's, so I don't have anything to worry about... just a reason not to upgrade.
-
Re:Screenshot..Hmm, this http://img58.exs.cx/img58/3362/screen12ee.jpg is the only capture I could find. It's hardly 1/4 of the screen that some people describe, and it's just like the other thumbs up buttons that have appeared in other ads.
I assume there is some other info ad that pops up, this is hardly troublesome.

MS Office: you're != you is
As for everyone else who isn't surprised, this has been an interesting "easter egg" of a bug that I discovered by accident while writing my second book. A sentence that included the words "you're married" is marked as grammatically incorrect and the correction prompts me to change it to "you is."
http://img109.exs.cx/img109/9936/youis4pz.gif
I have used this example ever since of why people should really be aware of the actual rules of grammar and not just rely on any program to do it for them. For natural language processing, even simple syntax, nothing beats another natural language speaker (yet.) -
pekwm?
I'm surprised no one has mentioned pekwm, which just released a new dev release not to long ago.

Search results window is... "similar"
Mmmmh...
MS search presents the results in such a similar way I can't help but call it "inspiration." And look at the date in Apple's filename.

Why we're better than you
Not only are we Mac users universally more attractive and outgoing than the rest of you, we're also emotionally deeper. It's unbelievable how many people will try to dispute this obvious fact.
I've outlined my feelings on this subject before (Safari client string embedded for you impostors), but that was before I started reading Slashdot. You should all be grateful now to have a Mac user in your midst. -
