Re:IPX
http://1radpc.com/joomla/index...:.. http://diablo.incgamers.com/fo... IMO first link is better and more detailed. You have to have Hamachi installed. Not sure what exactly what that is tho...a quick google can solve that. I literally just happened to be wondering question a few days ago, hence the links above. Hope it helps.

Re:From someone who gave up on the game...
I've played 40+ hours since the launch of the Loot 2.0 system and have yet to see a legendary or epic drop.
That seems very strange. I get at least one legendary almost anytime I play (around 2-3 hour play sessions).
From what I understand, there is actually a legendary "timer" that increases the chance of finding a legendary as you play. Based on this, it should be nearly impossible to play 10+ hours without finding a legendary.
Diablo guarantees you a legendary the first time you kill him (after loot 2.0)....you've gone 40+ hours and haven't reached Diablo yet?

Re:Stardock didn't get all the rights
http://www.incgamers.com/2013/07/open-source-star-control-2-team-express-doubts-over-atari-ip-sale
Apparently they only got the trademark to the name "Star Control" and the copyright to Star Control 3. Unless the license the Star Control 2 content as well, we might get something very different with the Star Control name slapped on.
as long as they have license to all the stuff in the universe, it's all the same. I'm pretty sure that's how they inteprete it, so they can use shofixtis and spathis.. or maybe they'll just remake the 3. the plot wasn't that bad, it's just couple of aspects that ruined it, like the map being a rotating ball.. no sense of exploration when you see everything right away.

Re:holy fucking shit
Unless they work with Toys for Bob, they can't reference anything in Star Control 1 or 2 because Toys for Bob retains the copyright for the characters and story.
http://www.incgamers.com/2013/07/open-source-star-control-2-team-express-doubts-over-atari-ip-saleThe idea that Toys for Bob of all people would pursue a claim of someone ripping them off is pretty rich, given that Star Control was a thinly veiled ripoff of Starflight (which itself has a better claim to "best PC game of all time" than Star Control 2 does). Reiche was even involved in the Starflight development, so it's not like they didn't know exactly what they were doing.

Re:Is he bloody stupid?Just want to clarify this. Yes, cross-region play is currently not possible. However, Blizzard has stated that it will be implemented:
Getting people online, playing and interacting is obviously the overall goal for the Battle.net platform, and that includes allowing people to play across regional boundaries as they have in the past. Unfortunately, there are a multitude of challenges we have to overcome due to the unique regional account and billing options that didn’t exist in the past. But those hurdles aren’t insurmountable, and we are looking into solutions that will allow interested players to obtain access to other regional versions without having to buy another full copy of the game. Those solutions are something we’re currently planning to have available through Battle.net Account Management within the first few months of StarCraft II’s release. Before that solution is implemented though, you’re correct in that you’d need to purchase a US copy of the game on launch day to play in the US region.

Re:good thing it wasn't a watermelon seed
Well it works like this. First if uses its existing nutrients to grow high enough to reach sunlight. Then it starts photosynthesis. If they'd left it in him, he'd have ended up like this

Re:Noooooooooo
Duke Nukem Forever will happen eventually.
It's a huge pile of money sitting on the table, waiting for someone to pick it up.I have said the same of the 1997 game "Redneck Rampage", which the rights has been bought and sold many times but no one has developed the next generation. Still one of the funnest FPS games ever made. There are rumors of a new version but they are only rumors. Granted, not exactly as big as Duke, but it was still a hugely successful game.
As silly or goofy as the game might seem, it was a damn fine example of what you can do when you use good physics, solid game play, and good old fashioned gutter humor. TF2 is another good example, just with different humor.

Games and security...
There are lots of holes in games since the last thing that programmers or gamers really want to think about is account security. (Cheating security frequently is the first thing that comes to mind.)
One of my buds ran a long thread here a while back. Several of his accounts were taken...don't remember how they got his WoW account. But it ended up that he eventually figured out that a server admin had poisoned a Web-downloadable .exe map pack file with a trojan that scraped some account info off files while running a keylogger to get anything that the scraper missed. These hackers are usually on top of their game (no pun intended). -
Re:Not the only forum that does that
Strange that Escapist is being singled out when the same policy can be found in several other forums. http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/faq.php?faq=rules [incgamers.com] is one: You use DIII.Net and its affiliates in the full knowledge that advertising in the form of banner adverts, interstitials and embedded adverts appear on all pages. You agree to not interfere with the display of these adverts through banner blocking software or browser features.
Two things in the current story is that there were no guidelines in this regards and that the members were banned without warning. If the moderators had simply responded in a better fashion, I don't think there would be a story here. By better fashion, I mean they could have replied with a simple answer regarding the site's view on ad-blockers and two provided some constructive feedback to the original poster.
Myself I don't ad-block, but I do Flash-block. I don't intentionally block adverts, it just they find themselves as collateral damage in my defending against crippling Flash content.

But whatever, I've since learnt to keep it to myself that I'm blocking ads. Sad that there are lots of people out there annoyed by ads and do not know that ads can be easily blocked, but I'm not going to teach them on a public forum that is ad supported. I also keep out of threads where people bitch about the ads on the forum.

Re:Unobtrusive
Here are some other screenshots. I would say it's rather annoying! I like it better when they have fake ads in these types of situations if they feel it's better for the ambiance - Fallout is a great example of this done well.
