Yeah but Nazi's live on the moon : http://ironsky.net/

Re:Life on Mars
Hopefully a reference to "Iron Sky II"? And Im still waiting to see the first one, in a theater, on DVD, Netflix, anything. I got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell, er, swastikas.

Iron Sky
I'm surprised that i saw no Iron Sky comments yet.
http://www.ironsky.net/ its a B movie made on a budget with remarkable Hollywood quality. Sequal and prequal are in the works, i've heared.Relevant because its recent (mid 2012), about the dark side of the moon and an US astronaut.
If you want a good laugh about WW2 germans, watch this. -
Re:Waiting to see if NASA will have money
what about Nazis?
-
Re:But...but...
The Nazis have been there since 1945.
-
Re:HIPPIE DIRTBAGS!
So you're saying that hundreds of years from now we'll find out that a portion of our population has been commuting to Mars the whole time?
Perhaps we'll arrive on Mars and discover that some secret group of Nazi Germans got there first.
If you ask a stupid question, you deserve a stupid answer.

The moon Nazi pilfered it already
Didn't you know. http://www.ironsky.net/site/ Geeze

Re:Blame Napster
Check out the trailer for Iron Sky, http://www.ironsky.net/ - then check out their budget http://www.ironsky.net/site/support/finance/
This is their second film, the first one (the most popular film ever created in Finland) was mainly distributed (for free) over bittorrent.
Looks better than anything set to come out of Hollywood this year, IMO.
Conclusion: If Hollywood dies, we'll still have good movies. Not that there's much chance of that, seeing as they're making more money than ever...

Technology is sometimes democritizing
[...] how it changed our culture giving B movies and films that didn't make the silver screen their own chance to shine.
The advance in technology has helped this more than harmed it. These days, put it up on Youtube to get known. Hell, put up a concept on a website just in hopes of funding. The passing of VHS and the arrival of streaming has been democratizing. If you're afraid of losing it, burn it onto a DVD. That DVD you burned will outlast any VHS tape and will do so through many, many plays. How many of us who grew up in the 80's didn't suffer the disappointment of losing our favorite film to a hungry VCR (I suspect my family, who were sick of rewatching the same movie rigged the thing to destroy the tape).

No Nazi's?
I was told in a documentary called Iron Sky that there was a Nazi base on the other side of the moon.

Re:Check out their website. No, seriously.
At first, I thought this might be a poorly disguised advert for Iron Sky,
Oh my god, I thought this whole article posting was a worthless waste of time, but it has given me that link and so all is good. I can't believe I haven't heard of Iron Sky yet. Nazi's in space? Yes please!
Thank you! -

Check out their website. No, seriously.
At first, I thought this might be a poorly disguised advert for Iron Sky, until I read their 'About Us' page:
TRANSCEPTION INCORPORATED is a pioneer in the new frontier of mind itself, founded on the premise that (?foreign?) technology can be transferred lawfully from the state of nature from any place in the Universe, in time or space, using a team of highly trained/skilled Controlled Remote Viewers (CRVers). At least by way of the Recommendation for Nomination for the Congressional Space Medal of Honor, submitted to the NASA Administrator on December 15, 2011, TRANSCEPTION has shown that technology can be transferred lawfully from the state of nature from any place in the Universe, in time or space, using a team of highly trained/skilled Controlled Remote Viewers. In sum, TRANSCEPTION INCORPORATED is an R&D company specializing in the exploitation of CRV and other methods to lawfully extract technology from the state of nature as a means for building, licensing, and enforcing its intellectual property (IP) portfolio of patents and copyrights.
So... "psychic" patent trolls...
Sylvia Browne is gonna be pissed she didn't think of it first. -
Re:20 years later than it should have been discuss
Cosmic radiation on the moon is pretty hard stuff. I think 12 inches of lead would be a little much for a tent. The astronauts who walked on the moon got away with it because they spent so little time there; for people living there, you need some really serious shielding to limit their exposure.
As for solar energy, it might make more sense to put those collectors in a different location, namely at one of the poles at the "peaks of eternal light", and run transmission cables to the habitat(s), which might be located in other places near other useful things. Of course, transmission cables might have problems with micrometeorites. Then again, your tent idea would probably have a much bigger problem with micrometeorites. Remember, the moon has no atmosphere, so it's constantly getting hit with micrometeorites.
Maybe we could just copy some technology from the Nazis with their giant bases on the far side of the moon.
-
Re:Weren't we supposed...
Wrong. There's still a moon base, that was built by the Nazis back in the 40s, on the far side of the moon, using their advanced anti-gravity technology. Pretty soon, they're going to be coming back.

Re:Iraq and Afghanistan wars
WWII is a pretty complicated subject really. Japan and Germany were both pursuing imperialistic goals, and I seriously doubt the Russians and Germans would have "killed each other" as you say. The reason the Germans lost is because they were getting it on both sides: from the Americans in the west and the Russians in the east; fighting a war on two fronts is rarely a good idea, and America only managed to do well there because 1) it ramped up its industrial capacity massively (and already had massive industrial capacity even before the war), and 2) it's isolated on both sides by large oceans. The Germans had already suffered a lot due to resistance from the French, British, and of course the Russians, and then when the Americans joined it that was the death knell. But if the Americans had never joined in, it's not so clear that the Germans would have lost. Britain was on the verge of defeat when the Americans jumped in, and while Russia was able to kill off lots of German troops by suckering them into following them into Siberia (wow, was that dumb) while destroying everything in their path, the Germans could still have pulled back at some point and given up on Russia while still having control of all of Europe. Of course, Germany was being run by a madman who turned out to be a horrible military strategist, but his generals were not.
Of course, this is all history, as the Germans were defeated, but the Nazis did manage to survive and, using new anti-gravity technology, establish a large base on the dark side of the moon, from which they'll be attacking us in 6 years, so it's not over yet!.

Re:Skilled Workers?
Maybe they should move to the Moon instead, where their compatriots are already hard at work.
-
Re:Production values that the market demands
So just outright deny reality to "support" your arguments? Don't try to pretend we need the current copyright monopoly systems. We don't, as evidenced by history and current successfully crowdsourced movies. A kid with blender can produce movies that outclass the most visually impressive ones of yesteryear anyway. You don't need a high budget to make an adequately good movie anymore, if you ever did. Who's to say we even need more high-budget movies? We don't build big wasteful pyramids anymore either.
People are supporting Iron Sky in large part because of Energia's proven reputation with earlier stuff like Star Wreck. And Star Wreck: In the Pirkinnning isn't the first Star Wreck. They started out like like this, and grew their own skills through practice, their business and their reputation over the years. As it should be.
While it's been around in the USA almost since the USA was founded I suppose, to europeans (and presumably the asian cultures), copyright monopoly is just something our societies tried for a few years over the thousands of years of our history, and we can abandon it tomorrow if it proves too damaging, which it's well on the way of becoming. And hey, assuming for a moment that copyright law IS making it artificially profitable to work on imaginary crap and endlessly sue eachother, and america's bitching about how few people are going engineering instead of law and arts, well, maybe they should stop making being a lawyer or artist so profitable via copyright law.
-
Re:Yeah right
Bottom line, if there was any profitability in it, Exxon, shell, BP, Citgo, etc. etc. would have already done it.
Hmm, I wonder what that would be like...

Re:Small news
German Satellite to Fall From Sky.
Don't they all?
Well I hope Luna doesn't or it's going to make quite a splash.
Since when is the Moon German?
-
Iron Sky?
That's no satellite, that's the Nazis returning!
-
Re:Please take some good photos of Apollo remains.
I want photos of the military bases on the dark side.
The alien ones.
Dont you mean the nazi moonbase?

One missing!
The one I'm most waiting is not in the list. Iron Sky.

Nazis on the Moon
Of course, some people have known about this for a long time...
-
Re:But what is in the cave?
My God...it's full of Nazis!
-
It does to the Nazis!
Nazis on the moon is the plot of the little-known indie sci-fi film currently in production, 'Iron Sky'.
And, really, who amongst us doesn't love a plot like that?
-
Yes.
-
Iron Sky
You will have to wait some time, but if you are like me, you'll be first in line for Iron Sky.
Moon nazis. What's not to like?
-
Re:Wouldn't mining the moon be a bad idea?
How do you know it's not already being mined?
http://www.ironsky.net/ Enjoy =)
-
Re:"a designer of semiconductor chips" ????
They are comming back .
-
Re:Obligatory
We're just lucky it's are not the nazis. Iron Sky
-
They all went to the moon anyway
I thought we were all clear on that.
-
Re:There must be something more
Then you must have lived under a rock, on the other side of the moon (prehaps near the Nazi base?* ^^).
I not only expected things like these. I wouldn't be surprised if they sacrificed a live child by splitting it in half on one of their drug trip orgies.
At least not, if they can keep up with the music industry executives I or got told about by people who met them.___
* On afterthought: "I can haz Godwin award fer sneekyness?" ^^ -
Godwin on the moon
Hopefully the orbiter will discover the lair of the Nazis on the moon and we can launch a preemptive nuclear strike before they come back in 2018.
-
Iron Sky
Teaser can be found here.

Re:Rubbish.
Are you sure they weren't really a colony of Nazis that migrated from the moon?
-
Better than Indiana 4!
http://www.ironsky.net/site/
Go to the moon to fight Nazis of course!
Sorry Indie, Commies are the poor mans Nazis when it comes to evil villains! -
moon: not terrorists but nazis
You've got it all wrong - Moon is occupied for quite some time by Nazis.
I guess that even if Saddam or Al Qaeda did reach it say 10 years ago they would encounter properly protected bases of Nazis and would be blown up before landing.
But you still managed to reach a valid conclusion, at least in regards to blowing things up: we have to blow-up the Moon because last time I checked, Nazis are still "bad" (the only exception are their uniforms, which are chic/sexi/cool/whatever that's why people still like watching movies about WWII
... which will include this Good Nazi Tom Cruise as reporded in IIRC The Daily Show). -
Re:Wow
Yes, they were battling Nazis on the moon!
-
It belongs to the Nazis
they first went there in 1945.
And in 2018, they are coming back. -
Re:Iran BOMB Canada
You can't hide forever Anonymous Coward. Nazis are soon coming to get you.
-
Re:Is it a parody? Comedy?
Looking at the trailer, I couldn't quite figure out if they are going for a dark, true sci-fi kind of work, or if it will be a spoof/comedy.
Ready the story synopsis on the website:
Renate is to travel to Earth on a secret mission with her fiance, the handsome and high-ranking Klaus, a true Nazi down to his jackboots. Their mission: to assassinate the president of the United States, Jenna Bush.
I think that answers your question.
Clearly it's a documentary! -
