Re:So many mistakes.
1. Yes? Cheaper way of putting people in 0g for a year or more at a time?
2. What did Russia do? NASA stopped cooperating on everything non-ISS first. US puts sanctions on Russia.
Who was the first to pull the "protecting civilians" crap in Libya that somehow was equivalent to close air support for rebels?? Russia is not doing anything even remotely as outlandish as the US.
Russia is just retaliating on US sanctions. You might as well say "Don't trust US", same thing. Based on how US acts regarding IP laws (see Mega and Dotcom, for one), drone used for extrajudicial killings, etc. not sure who is more trustable anyway.
3. So who allowed US space program to deteriorate to this level?? Go ahead, look at yourselves.
4. There are alternatives, just Space X is the only one this much progressed.

It goes without saying that the US is run badly these days. The politics being what they are about half the population will never admit it but such is the reality. As a people, we need to grow beyond our factionalism, find common ground, and hold our leaders to some reasonable standards.
Spot on on this one at least. Too bad the system is rigged that only "acceptable" candidates to maintain the status-quo are ever nominated.

Interesting that the "story" - such that it is - contains no links to substantiate such a huge issue
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=sms+wont+...
Single person has annoying but minor problem texting random social contact, assumes huge conspiracy and general incompetenceæ
Yeah, its a well known and widespread problem. Sending and receiving after switching away from an iphone.
Everyone I know who has an iphone and switched to an android has encountered it, along with related issues resulting from travelling with an iphone and disabling data temporarily, and so on. Sometimes the incantations apple prescribes to fix it work, sometimes the carrier has to do something to get it working again, and some just refuse to work no matter what they do.

Re:Competition
I can't decide on a single reference due to the overwhelming evidence so let me google that for you.
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=telecom+g...
or this: http://www.fcc.gov/guides/rece...
After receiving those grants the telecom companies negotiate the term "broadband" to the lowest speed possible so that that their current DSL networks meet the standard without upgrades.
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=broadband...
The result of this is the telecoms receive the grants and the people receive nothing. -

Perhaps the person who has given up on even trying to support their claim should remain silent. If you're going to say something stupid about taking away people's rights, then you deserve to be mocked.
Here's a link to the actual source, since clicking on the first link was too hard for you.

Re:I must live in a different country...
I hear my fellow Americans talk about needing guns in every room of the house to ward off the nightly assaults of Orc maurders but what country do these people actually live in? How many times has anyone ever personally had to fire a gun for self defense?

And, of course, it's the teacher's unions who are forcing high-performing charter schools to close, but that's hardly part of the Dem platform, just a consequence of seeking the public sector employee vote

Pulled out of right field? Umm, no.

"Two epidemiological studies have linked talking on a cellphone directly to increased crash risk, using cellphone billing records to verify phone use of crash-involved drivers. A 2005 Institute study of drivers in Western Australia found that when drivers were talking on mobile phones there was a fourfold increased likelihood of a crash resulting in injury to the driver. 10 The findings were consistent with 1997 research that showed phone use among Canadian drivers was associated with a fourfold increase in the risk of a crash involving property damage but no injury."Seriously, there have been hundreds of studies on this topic. Re:It's not the thing...
Its really not hard to be faster than the RaspberryPi if you do anything over USB, in which case the RaspberryPi is so horribly broken that you'll spend a decade just trying to get reliable networking thanks to its broken USB implementation and the fact that the network port is built into the USB bridge.
The RaspberryPi is crap and needs to fucking die.
Here's your starting point:

Re:April Fools stories are gay
That isn't even close to what I wrote. Trying to put words in other peoples' mouths is not logic.
I never claimed it was what you wrote. It's an analogy demonstrating the absurdity of the logic behind what you wrote. Why did you defend an assertion not made? Lack of understanding, or an attempt at constructing a straw man?
And I saw Megyn Kelly once, on YouTube. I don't remember what it was about. What does she have to do with anything?
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=megyn+kel... If you need additional help understanding the reference, I'd be happy to oblige, but to summarize: you are presenting a false equivalence between two very different things in an attempt to make the moral difference ambiguous and subjective.
OkCupid has no force of law, they have attempted to use no force of law. Hell, they haven't even attempted to force users of their service to adhere to their view. An appeal for social action against someone who would harm an affected minority is not coercion.
An attempt at codifying legislation that would in fact ban a populace from doing something, and strip them of the status they already obtained is in fact, upon success, coercion. Upon failure, attempted coercion.
Lobbying to make your marriage illegal? It's a boycott, essentially! -

Re:Projections
1: Let me google that for you:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=climate+c...You should just be embarrassed with yourself.
2. As to charlatans, obviously they shouldn't be given time. However, you're attempting to disqualify a larger group then can be labeled a charlatan. The occasional kook... fine. But not this many people.
Further, its dangerous in science to shut people out when this much money and power is on the line. Consider for a moment... just for the sake of argument... that the skeptics are correct. What do you think will be effect of removing all criticism and oversight from the pro AGW crowd while they're getting billions in funds and increasing amounts of naked unquestioned power?
You're creating a dangerous situation here. Are the skeptics annoying and often wrong? Yes. But shutting them out could be a disaster that could bring whole scientific institutions to their knees. Its not worth it.
Tolerate people with different views... its a lot cheaper then the alternative.
Further, they're not just going to go away. So you won't accomplish much by shutting them out.

Re: patented keyboard technology?
I completely agree with the sentiment that IP laws (laws in general!) should be much simpler. There's two problems with your argument, though. First, some areas of law are necessarily so complex that only a tiny fraction of lawyers and judges (let alone laypersons) are competent to handle them. I would not trust a constitutional law guru to handle corporate bankruptcy, nor a brilliant civil rights litigator to draft a patent on synthetic DNA.
Second and more importantly, there's nothing "select" about who can know and understand these laws. Anyone who wants to become well-versed in the vagaries of US IP laws can do any or all of the following:
1) Read the actual laws
2) Pick up a book that will aid you in understanding IP law (no quality guarantees there, I just googled "understanding IP law" and this is the first thing that popped up)
3) Go watch some YouTube videos that explain, for instance, design patent law or the concept of trade dress (again, no quality guarantees, just showing there's tons of content out there)
4) Go to law school and take some IP courses (I don't recommend this if all you want is a passing understanding of IP law)
5) Ask NYCL himself to explain the issue to you
Unlike some of the scientific content discussed here on /. (esp. things like QM and particle physics), IP laws are not particularly hard to grok for the average person—with a little effort and a helpful search engine. Stop me if I'm stabbing a scarecrow here, but I think you might be confusing "IP laws shouldn't be unreasonably complex" with "IP laws should be intuitive enough that people don't even have to look them up". -

My mistake, I figured you maybe wanted more information to assuage your ignorance. Here:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=climate+c...Go ahead, find me some credible links there calling into question the existence of such a thing.
The global climate is a metastable system on geologic timescales - there's no serious question about that. And *every* metastable system has tipping points - that's the defining quality of metastability.

Wiki has polysyllabic words, though, which I suspect you may have trouble with, so let me explain it real simple for you:
Go out in the garage and turn your big sister's bike upside down, so the handlebars are on the ground.
Turn the pedal as fast as you can.
Put your hand on the tire.
You'll notice the tire is moving real fast. You've just experienced the velocity of a spinning object.
Try the same experiment with daddy's bike.
You'll have to push the pedal much harder to get it going real fast because the wheel on daddy's bike is bigger and heavier.
It's hard to make a big, heavy thing go fast. You have to work harder to turn the pedal fast.
Scientists measure that hard work and say the big, heavy wheel has more "energy".Now go play with your toys and let the grown-ups talk.

I suppose there are some orphans, but I'm pretty sure all other kids have 2 parents.
You jerk. There are children born out of wedlock, divorced parents, parents who died of disease, accident, or war...
In my own case, my father wanted to homeschool, but my mother was a total schizo flake. It was all he could do to keep us clean, fed, and sheltered.

Re:Higher SAT scores, etc
I suppose there are some orphans, but I'm pretty sure all other kids have 2 parents.
On a serious note, where do you live? In Texas, there are no books that have to be purchased and most children in my area that are homeschooled do it as a collective of families where each family teaches *something* to a handful of kids when their schedule permits. -

Re:hahaha...
You may want to familiarize yourself with the concept of rubber hose cryptography.
Granted, the United States Federal Government won't literally beat you with a hose, but they will take away your freedom until you comply with the lawful orders of the courts. The Government will go over your finances with a fine toothed comb, accounting for any and all assets you currently or previously owned, including bitcoin. If you obtained any of those assets via fraud you're going to be on the hook for repayment, plus criminal and civil penalties on top of the fraudulent earnings.
Want to play the "I lost them" card? You can try, but you're still going to be on the hook for the full amount Uncle Sam thinks you owe your victims, plus the aforementioned penalties, and you're not wiping any of that away with a bankruptcy. It will follow you until the day you die.
Bitcoin doesn't spend at the prison commissary, nor am I aware of any reputable criminal defense attorneys that accept payment in bitcoin.

I don't know why people keep blathering about this. There are a lot of options out there for the 'phone-only' phones.
A quick google search brings up a recent top-10 list which reveals several decent choices. A couple of exames are: Samsung gusto 2 available for Verizon and Samsung Entro for Virgin Mobile. -
