Re:Index of Refraction?
Sorry dude. Yes the IOR is important; however the refractive index has nothing to do with the flexibility.
Refractive Index determines how well light will pass from one material to another.
In the article it said the hardest challange is to be able to dope the sponge fibers. Doping is when you add chemicals to the fiber core to create a higher index of refraction then the fiber cladding, thus creating a total internal reflection!
Whew what a mouthful...
By the way my favorite website is

Re:CDT Calls Penn Blocking Law Unconstitutional
Passed in early 2002, the Pennsylvania ISP Liability Law imposes potential liability on ISPs for child pornography available on the Internet, even if the ISPs are not hosting the offending content and have no relationship whatsoever with the publishers of the content. Essentially, the law makes any ISP doing business in Pennsylvania potentially liable for content anywhere on the Internet.

XHTML
Wasnt there some company about two years ago that was developing a service to use voice to build XHTML pages? I did a search on Google, but could not find it. They had a test 1-800 number that you could call, say something, and then go to a webpage that was automatically created for you. It seemed to work pretty good, whatever happened to that?

Data Mining?
Whatever dude. I know for a fact that one of the largest data mining company in the world, located in Boca Raton, FL, uses a sloppy collection of various dos, and c shell scripts to perform its billions of billions and billions of bytes of data mining. If you can get into this field, you will do wonders because the field is so fresh, you can really get quite innovated (its not boring yet)...

Brief History of an old skool bbs...
pajonet.com - aka macombunderground bbs
Well the whole story begins in the early fall of 1987. Jeff, a young boy about the age of 17 started one of the most talked about BBS's this side of Lake Ontario. The dream started on a Commodore 64 1/2 (we modded it a bit) and one of those awesome hayes 1200 that we got for 350 bucks out of the back of the old computer shopper magazine. Remember the old thick ass fat ones with like 100 pages of pure classifieds in them? We coded up a litle proggie using some templates we found in C= mag and voilla it was born.
Within the period of about 4 weeks, we had about 100 users and my mom almost revoked the phone privaleges! We made a deal to only have the c64 plugged in from 10PM to 6AM, and boy was it ever busy. We have since developed our little spot on the www at pajonet.com, so when you are done slash dotting about, drop by and spend some time! just like old times... -

Why
Why would Linux users want to interface with
.NET?
I mean seriously, what does .NET have that is so wonderful? I mean standards like xml and soap are here already, distributed COM is still plugging along. Why would we want to use .NET?
