Kurt Eichenwald
One obvious recent example is Kurt Eichenwald, who posted a screenshot of a flyer that he claims was anti-semitic. One of the tabs open in the background was for tentacle porn.
Eichenwald was doing some pretty sketchy things and pissed off a fair number of people. This ensured that the tentacle-porn thing got strewn across the internet far and wide, to the gleeful delight of everyone who hated him.

The message the market is sending is make more sequels, remakes, and formulaic movies.

Re: SJW
The right wing extremists have a bit of catching up to do then, it seems. I haven't observed any right-wing extremists shutting down political rallies, smashing storefronts, or shouting down public speakers on campus lately.

If America want's to represent Democratic values i.e. capitalism, rule by the people for the people, on a world stage, with the willingness to represent and defend those people who cannot. Then we must as a nation defend those things. We have a president who will not or cannot defend those things that have been so sacred to our institution. The rule of law over government, the desire to promote the will of the people over tyrannical leaders, the hope that all of us will have some say in our own lives, and the willingness to defend others. That is the America I fight for. Not Nazi's, not white power, not America first. https://www.snopes.com/dr-seus... -

Re:Defective by design.
I bought a Sony T637 in 2004, still my 2nd favorite phone. floAt's Mobile Agent and a slew of accessories made it very very sweet at the time. Admittendly,. coming from a Siemens S46,
And it had Bluetooth.
I bought the only BT headset available at the time, a Jabra. Remember, the crescent-shaped abomination that announced to the world 'I am a true geek, lost to my passion for technology and finding new ways to ignore YOU'. Surprisingly, it neither made me a pariah nor prevented my meeting and marrying my wife. She got a headset also when she got a new phone, for the real reason BT was invented was to prevent headphone cables from becoming entangled in the stick shift... Yes, really. All else was superfluous until the Millennials destroyed the manual transmission market.
Since that phone, of course, I've bought nothing else The BB 7105t I next had included BT, no stereo yet. And then The Dream - HTC G1. Bluetooth was supported a few months after launch, so yes, I was in virtual hell for a bit, but they came through. And then I could finally retire my Minidisc player... I've still got it, with remote, a bunch of blank discs, battery case, and car mount, if you;re interested. I'll even throw in a new rechargeable battery if you give me a few days, make an offer. MiniDisc is underrated tech.
I really cannot imagine using corded headsets. the hassle, the limitation, not being able to leave the phone on the garage workbench while I mow the lawn, just touching my ear to answer a call. It really is time for the Butlerians to relent and use the useful technology that is Bluetooth. Or not, and whine about having to use a dongle-enabled wired set of buds for however long they must.

Re:Even if there was hacking....Just two things:
The kneejerk reaction of dismissing any suggestion of election meddling to "looking for excuses" for Clinton's loss is less than useful. Clinton lost. It's over. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be extremely concerned about the implications of some of the allegations.
The allegations are concerning as much as they matter regarding the explanation of the results of the presidential election. If the outcome of the presidential election was not influenced by the alleged hacks, the alleged hacks are of little concern. Consequently, and above all, those alleged hacks do not help to explain why Trump won.
One of the better articles I found on this subject is here: https://www.pastemagazine.com/...
I'd like to see the worst ones, then. That article is full of rants, but the author seems to be unable to give them weight. When the author tries to give facts, he fails, e.g.: the first accusation is that Trump is followed by an army of bots on social media, but that obvioulsy does not mean anything if you do not know how many bots are usually among the followers of famous people. In fact, in 2016 we knew that "More Than a Third of Trump’s and Clinton’s Twitter Followers Are Reportedly Fake", but the author seems to ignore that, or perhaps he is just blinded by his own hate.

Re:Hollywood is usually awful
I'm a Keith Laumer fan, but I have trouble imagining a Bolo story as an effective film. Most good robot films have robots that are in some measure humanoid (https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/11/the-100-greatest-movie-robots-of-all-time.html). A Bolo is essentially an intelligent tank, even the huge Continental Siege Units, and an essential part of the stories is what the Bolo is thinking. It would require a lot of voiceover narration to reveal the Bolo's motivation or explain the plot.
I would dearly love to see the Bolo story "Final Mission" made into an effective and successful film; I just don't see how it can be done.

Because you want a Bush-Clinton dynasty run by a person who

Re:it's been out one week.
How do you define success? As of late October, Apple music had 15 million users, of which 6.5m were paying and 40% of users dropped their subscription after the free trial ran out. iTunes has 800m registered accounts so that's less that 1/10th of 1% paying customers for their user base, or just under 2% of their user base that even tried it during the free intro. By those measures, yeah, not all that much of a success especially since Apple wanted 100m subscribers.
Spotify has 75m users of which 20m are paying. The entire industry is reported to have around 41m paying subscribers. 12% market share isn't awful, but it's not a slayer.
I'll leave what I originally said stand. Netflix doesn't have anything to worry about.

Re:Anyone figure out why
Sony probably backed it to give them another edge over the Xbox One. It's an odd decision, however, given RPG remakes don't tend to happen.
I'll be interested to see if they can live up to the expectations we've developed over time. Upon replaying them I discovered that a large part of the depth of PSX and earlier Final Fantasy games was filling in the blanks – particularly when it came to personalities. Without voice acting you can come up with a completely different person depending on how you read them, which leads to different people having dissimilar experiences. With latter FF games they've been inserting a lot of voice acting, which I found very off-putting (it's not exactly A-list stuff, and I find that the personalities they project are strained).
I found Leigh and Kirk's FF7 Letters to be an interesting nostalgia trip. Kirk had been in the industry for a while before playing FF7, having been exposed to its legend on many an occasion, and exchanged letters with Leigh whilst he experienced it for the first time. There's a lot of things my mind skipped over as a kid; always ignored Tifa, for example, when I could have interpreted her in an entirely different and more mature way. It's interesting.
It'll be cool to see, regardless; re-imaginings are often fun ways of looking deeper into a story.

Re:Dear Bruce...
Well, I felt that with Colbert's desire to have multiple things named after him, the list of things is here, there would be a sort of "symmetry" to naming something that he would not want after him.
Obviously a simple influenza virus is insufficient to name after me. I'd want to have named after me an itch that you can't reach and slowly drives you crazy.

Re:Darned whippersnappersWhere should I go to find the music that is new and relevant? Try Paste magazine -- http://www.pastemagazine.com/ -- a very intelligent pub which avoids most of the pitfalls, hype, and indiscriminate crap of the mainstream. (That's not to say they'll never cover a well-known artist, but only those who deserve it.)
Paste may occasionally trend a little too close to the "music snob" category, but the writing generally isn't arrogant like that. It's been a breath of fresh air for me the past few years. Plus, it comes with a well-selected sampler disc every month.
