Granted, this may be easy for me to say, as I have not been directly, personally affected (no one I know has been killed/injured/involved) by terrorism...

Well, I have been directly affected by terrorism. I stood on the sidewalk and watched in horror as innocent people flung themselves out of a quarter-mile-high building instead of being burned to death. I saw, heard, and felt the impact of the second plane. I dodged falling debris with the rest of the crowd, and walked up Broad Street to get away from the site with my fellow New Yorkers, hitting the redial button on my cell phone until I could get through to my family to tell them I was still alive.

And, I agree with you.

I watched three thousand innocent people murdered just because they had the courage to live as free people. And how are we honoring their memory? By giving up the freedoms they died for, for a false sense of security.

We've been told "They hate us for our freedoms." If that's true, then why has Switzerland, where people have at least as much individual liberty as we do, not been attacked by The Terrorists?

We've been told that we need to give up some freedoms in the name of safety. If giving up individual liberty makes you safer, then why is it that in countries where individual liberties are suppressed the most that people have the most to fear? I'm not saying that the people who want to reduce our liberty in the name of security are tyrants; I believe they think they're doing the right thing. However, the belief that you must choose between liberty and safety is not true. Perhaps it's up to the citizens of the free world to let our politicians know this. Or, we can just sit around on our well-regulated duffs and hope that the government can keep us safe.

The ACLU also have a tendency to screw things up, and have been accused of malice a lot longer than the EFF and with more evidence.

2) The inspections teams were on the same track; the IAEA was reportedly close to declaring Iraq nuclear-free, while UNMOVIC was working on verifying chemical weapon destruction quantities based on the amount of residual chemicals in the destruction zones. The residuals were evident, but the quantity of source material was unknown. Both have now stated that they believe, just like Kay, that there were not WMDs in Iraq. In short, every inspection team sent to Iraq has reached that same conclusion.

The IAEA and UNMOVIC heads themselves described good cooperation from the Iraqi government. Blix - the more harsh of the two organization heads - stated that "Iraq wwas guilty of only small infractions". Most of the Iraqi complaints were of the US spying to gather information for war, which turned out to be true. And lets not forget the peace initiatives.

The closest thing Iraq did to active promotion of terrorism was giving money to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers to compensate for Israel's policy of destroying the families' homes. Of course, Saudi Arabia did the exact same thing. Now, if you want countries with clear, major ties to funding terrorists, you need to look at Iran and the United States.

A very interesting remark. Why? lately i viewed the BCC Documentary, "the Power of Nightmares", which indeed reveiled that Al-Qeida is just a name for a organisation which does not exist! the name Al-Qeida is a fabrication by the Federal US Prosecutors in order to get warrent for arrest to nail Osama Bin Laden, a.k.a. Tim Osman within the CIA.

I came across three films produced by the BBC called "The Power of Nightmares" which explain how various groups use the fear of terrorism to advance their political power. I've spent all day converting them to a smaller format so that they can be ea silly downloaded. But they are an hour long each and are about 75 megs each. They are however extraordinary and it's quite an education into the history of Islamic Terrorism and American neo conservatives. Here are the links:

Sorry for the windows (WMV) format but it allowed me to shrink the video to 1/10 it's original size. I don't think there's a copyright issue but if there is I'll wait till someone screams about it. I think the BBC would want people to see these films.

In particular the third film makes a shocking revelation. The terrorist group al-Qaeda in fact does not exist. It was made up in January of 2001 in order to prosecute Osama bin Laden in his absence. In order to prosecute bin Laden there had to be an organization like the Mafia for which he was a part of. Under the law if such an organization exists then the head of the organization can be prosecuted under the law. So in order to bring the prosecution they made up the organization and called it al-Qaeda.

But the organization is fiction. It doesn't exist. It's all a huge fraud.

After 9-11 - a terrorist act that was organized by a bin Laden aide and funded by bin Laden - Bush dug up the name al-Qaeda from the prosecutors in the New York case against him. And since then we have been in a battle against a fictional enemy. The very people who made the story up now are believing their own lies.

What I first heard about this movie I too was skeptical. I thought, "Yeah right! al-Qaeda doesn't exist - sure!" But now that I watched it, and with the other two movies providing further background, I am sitting here in shock and awe. Keep in mind that this was made by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) which is hardly some tin foil hat organization!

If what this movie says is true then we shouldn't be able to find any al-Qaeda references in the news before the begining of 2001. So lets start hunting this up and find out where the name al-Qaeda first surfaced. "

So ONE SECURITY company was running a disaster management drill for a London based COMPANY and this drill (conducted in a meeting room, no less) included what to do in a train bombing scenario. NOTE: there was nothing going on in a real rail stations, the government wasn't involved, not even all employees for this company - just crisis managers in a MEETING ROOM at the company.

I have been surfing around the conspiracy-ish sites and I have found a lot of information that is availible for anyone (maybe not north korea...) with access to internet. On Indymedia.co.uk I found a comment about that the CEO Managing Director of Visor Consultants said in an radio interview (radio 5 bbc) that they had an 1,000 person strong exercise which drilled the London Underground being bombed at the exact same locations, at the exact same times, as happened in real life.

As if that wasn't crayzy enough, think about the fact that he actually tell us about it! (bbc radio 5 recording ).

It is my understanding that all of the 9/11 terrorists had valid U.S. IDs (drivers licenses, mostly) and/or valid passports which had been scrutinized at the border. These IDs were all in their own names (though perhaps not in the name under which they were wanted). So far as I know, no one has suggested that they had obtained these IDs fraudulently: they all could have gotten the new biometric IDs that so many seem to want.

We knew who they were, and some of them were on ``wanted'' or ``watch'' lists under the names on their legitimate IDs, the IDs which they used to board their planes. Identity was never a factor in the 9/11 hijackings. Therefore, obviously, what we need to make sure it never happens again is a new, improved National ID system which will further tighten the government's control over us. Yes, indeed. It kept the Jews safe in the 1930s, after all. We'll try not to think about what happened to them in the 1940s.

Rumor 1 ("rumor", because it comes from prisonplanet.com rather than a more-reliable source): The Dept. of Homeland Security has hired the former head of socialist East Germany's infamous "Stasi" domestic spy agency - the same man who architected their national ID program.

Fact 4: Today, the U.S. House has approved by a 261-161 vote to institute an electronic national ID card system for all Americans.

Chances are good that President Bush will sign this into law, claiming that it will help fight terrorism and other boogeymen, nevermind the fact that the 9/11 hijackers used IDs as legit as anybody else's.

Opposition to a homeland-security bill brought to the floor of Congress yesterday largely has centered on fears it would lead to a national ID, but some critics point to an overlooked section that apparently gives the White House sweeping powers to suspend laws for the purpose of protecting U.S. borders.

The controversial section of the proposed legislation, as originally introduced, reads:

SEC. 102. WAIVER OF LAWS NECESSARY FOR IMPROVEMENT OF BARRIERS AT BORDERS.

Section 102(c) of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1103 note) is amended to read as follows:

(c) Waiver-

(1) IN GENERAL- Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall have the authority to waive, and shall waive, all laws such Secretary, in such Secretary's sole discretion, determines necessary to ensure expeditious construction of the barriers and roads under this section.

(2) NO JUDICIAL REVIEW- Notwithstanding any other provision of law (statutory or nonstatutory), no court shall have jurisdiction--

(A) to hear any cause or claim arising from any action undertaken, or any decision made, by the Secretary of Homeland Security pursuant to paragraph (1); or

(B) to order compensatory, declaratory, injunctive, equitable, or any other relief for damage alleged to arise from any such action or decision.

Thank you for this most interesting and useful post. What people should be VERY aware about now is that Marcus Wolf, the architect of the very system you describe, has just been employed by the Department of Homeland Security to set up a similar system in the USA.

Only in the worst nightmares of the old cold warriors was such a system seen working in the continental USA, but here it is, being set up by Republicans.

Hello! That is because they are educated BY the government in government schools!

Send your children to Catholic school and they will learn that the church is the answer to all life's problems and that when in need you can always turn to the church. Send you children to government school and they learn that the government is always right and can do no wrong even when doing wrong.

The government has an agenda and why we give our children over to them to be "taught" is beyond me. They don't need the media for their propaganda, they have the schools.. and this is further proof. They are trying to ban even the constitution and delceration of independance in some school systems because it might "offend" some one. Most students these days can't even tell you what the difference between state government and federal government is and most people in this country can't even name their congressman or tell you who they represent (you) and who the senators represent(the state)

Get rid of government schools and the teacher's union and we might see an educated America!
