Re:Many people: "TESLA IS A FAILURE"
I'm not talking about regular tinted windows, I'm talking about the panoramic "glass atrium" effect (side). Which also does this in the rain.
I wouldn't count on £7500 discounts on a car with a 9 month waiting list (2018 Leaf). That's an abnormally deep discount, for any car.

Re:I think so, but my kid loves it
I don't think it for the most part blows more than it ever did. It's all about creating a product that will sell, and occasionally someone makes something that's good by accident. That's why it's called "pop" -- it's like soda pop: it's supposed to be effortlessly consumable.
The big difference today is Autotune. It's not that as a tool it's inherently bad, it's that it allows the music industry to do two things: produce a more predictably uniform product and focus on packaging -- and by packaging I mean looking hot. Would Janis Joplin have a chance in the industry today? She didn't look like a fashion model, didn't dance, and didn't have a big rack.

Re:Sucks how, exactly?
I'd agree that bluetooth audio latency is not good for use in real-time applications or as studio monitors, but in practice it's not nearly half a second. This chart is probably reasonably accurate:
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/file...
Between my QC35s (purchased because I valued better noise cancelling over better sound quality, although today I'd have chosen the MDR-1000X) and Windows 10 PC, I've found that adding a -100ms delay to the audio renderer in MPC is enough to correct for the latency. I guess that either means that Windows is using AAC, or that Auris chart is significantly overestimating latency. This isn't a problem on my phone, because my phone automatically corrects for the latency for all video playback without me having to do anything.
With aptx low latency (which I don't believe either the QC35 or MDR-1000X support), it should essentially per perceptually zero latency, particularly because most displays add almost that much video latency anyhow. I'll admit that this is probably the most annoying thing about bluetooth, and I really wish the QC35s supported aptx low latency. If the Sony headphones did, I'd probably sell the QC35 and replace them today.

Re:What's in it for him?
Otherwise he wouldn't be doing it.
Easy. A computer big and huge enough that it can someday house his consciousness when his astonishingly healthy body someday craps out, so he can continue to MAGA for all time until America was won so much even his most ardent, NFL-hating MAGA fans are tired of winning. It will be huge. It will be gold. It will be huge and gold, and they will call it the "BFC T-1000" and it will rule and it will be incredible, people, believe me.

Re:Verification of what?
Someone please explain like I'm 5
This article (and others) give ways to make money from Instagram. I find Instagram a place for soft porn photos but there are a lot of users who are very concerned about the number of their followers. I can't say I 100% get it. But I don't get 99% of the economic choices people make these days.
So... if you have followers and a blue checky thingy I presume would get more hits via searches and those hits would lead to more clicks to either the stuff you are pushing or your own products.
More hits would also mean more followers would likely build up... blah blah blah... extrapolate (oh wait... you are only five... so) zoom zoom zoom and you can now by Manhattan (oh... sorry...) your very own ice cream truck.

Re:One bitcoin is worth more than gold to idiots
The places that do 'accept' it, for the most part DONT ACTUALLY ACCEPT BITCOIN . . . It's too fucking volatile to hold onto. They mostly pass BitCoin transactions through a third party who then pays your bill with a real financial transaction.
Oh, so sort of like credit cards. You give your card information to the merchant, they go to a 3rd party who then actually handles the shifting of money around.
Outside of malware and exchanges, no one of any importance directly accepts BitCoin for payment, so try again.
Overstock.com, Expedia, Newegg, TigerDirect.com, Shopify stores, Dish... Yeah you're right. None of those businesses are really of any importance. Just some of the largest online retailers or service providers in their particular industry.
If I wanted to pay a bill with Bitcoin, I don't care what the merchant does with it after I make my payment. It's not my problem as long as my account is credited for the payment.

visual + social = competence + profit
I though about this for three minutes, when I discovered all the shit dripping off the fan the morning after.
A simple photograph (or gallery) of person (or people) expected to mount the stage would be the best sanity check. Our visual systems are way better equipped to get a slice of primary this-can't-be-right cognition for a celebrity in the hot light feeling watched by a hundred million people.
Yes, you could still end up with the same visual on two different cards, say an actor or actress nominated in two different categories (e.g. lead/supporting). That would require a rare double mix up.
For director/voice actor they could add the image of one of those spindly little chairs or a microphone. They could also tuck a photo of last year's winner (already holding their damn trophies) at the bottom—or even better, a manic caricature of same.
These would be about right as a cue for LAST YEAR'S winner of same category (drawn in a slightly more minimalist style, with Oscar added):
Caricatures drawn for The New York Review by four artists
(Baring a recount, you have a whole year to book this art before the next gala shindig.)
You would need to use stock images for THIS YEAR'S winner, or you'd risk letting the cat out of the bag. Probably stock images from the actual production (which I'm sure all nominees have available if you ask nicely).
Obviously, the inner staff of whatever agency takes this over in future years prepares a winner card for every nominee in every category, and the newly-scared-shitless MC of final card selection would manually winnow the field—stamping each selected card "official"—and then immediately burning all cards not selected.
Bonus: you also get a one-of-a-kind souvenir for the lucky winner to pass along to favoured family or friend (ideally signed by hand by the caricature artist). There are probably other PR/monetization strategies available in conjunction with this, not that anyone in Hollywood would notice another shake of the purse.

Exterior vs Interior
Why are they making the distinction between the exterior of the grain and interior? The exterior was interior just prior to meeting the grinder... That is silly Math Profs or not.

Re:Not Impressed
The only thing it is lacking is an SD card. My phone will do 2 terabytes but my tablet is stuck at 32gb.
I use my 2013 Nexus 7 daily and use the OTG cable on a weekly basis (for backups and transferring large amount of data from USB flash drives).
Also recently, I bought a 32G USB3/OTG combo drive when it was on sale.

Re:Zip tie
I always just "lock" my luggage with a basic zip tie.
Have you not seen the videos that show how trivial it is to get into most suitcases which have a zipper, bypassing any locks?
Zip *tie*, not zip. You probably call them cable ties.
A cable zip tie is easier to undo without detection than the zip... you just need a paper clip.

Re:A consultant's experience
Funny that, your point 2 is in direct contradiction to point 1a. You are effectively stating that your needs as the vendor are more important than the needs of the customer organisation.
Apparently you're a good example of "there's money to be made prolonging the problem".

Re:for all this talk... where is it?
Manufacturing at scale is a big problem
http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files...
The stuff is still monumentally more expensive than its competition, even with the price dropping fast, because it's new and we haven't figured out how to scale it yet. The stuff coming out of your dvd burner is not the high quality stuff, and low quality graphene is worse than non-graphene alternatives at most things.
Its use in electronics is also inhibited by the lack of bandgap, which people are looking into: http://physicsworld.com/cws/ar.... It's just another material, and pricing will dictate its use vs. less effective but still perfectly viable alternatives. While its new, this has an odd chicken-and-egg supply-and-demand relationship.

Physics isn't magic anymore
Not just this.
1) The rag was left out in the sun.
2) There's no temperature gauge, so you can't tell if it's 0F or 110F.
3) There's some kind of unnatural glare going on. It could just be the rag is soaked with so much oil that it's outright reflecting the sunlight, but not knowing how the rag was prepared, I wonder if there's something say, concentrating the sunlight. While spontaneous combustion is pretty cool to see, the reliabilty of this video is questionable.
The flash point of rosewood oil according to MSDS is 184F, so clearly the rag must have reached that temperature one way or another.

Re:Different Arduino models
Normally, no - you either get your choice of a board that's shaped like a standard Arduino and can support the Arduino shields, or else a board (such as the Teensy or Really Bare Bones Board) that's narrower and has all the pins on 1/10" spacing so it can plug directly into a standard breadboard, leaving you room to connect it to other things. While most of the Arduino connectors are on 1/10" spacing, a few of them are offset for historical backward compatibility reasons.

Re:Perhaps it's changed...
In defense of osCommerce, though, I was able to get http://www.gamefest.com/ up in and going in maybe two weeks after switching to osCommerce (and away from Miva merchant).
So, it does allow for a quick and easy store. It was just that customizing it was hard (back then -- perhaps stuff has changed since 2003/04).
Shopify -- http://www.shopify.com/ -- is looking interesting now as well, and is also built using Ruby on Rails.
