Guys, tomorrow is the last day for your free Windows 10 update. It's really important that you know that.

Re: As a C programmer
Personally, I like Ruby.
In all seriousness, arguments along the lines of "very few people are competent C programmers" in my experience can be generalized to "very few people are competent <insert any programming language here> programmers". Yes, C is a more challenging language because it requires very strict discipline to do well, but 8+ years in the industry has shown me that good coders are the exception. -

Re:Why not?
The press will actually investigate and report on a Trump Administration.
An NBC reporter tried to press him for details about his statements during this press conference, and was told to "be quiet" when she tried to catch him dodging the question. The response from Trump supporters? She was "rude," referring to her as part of the "bully media," and that she was "yakking on." He's taken time out to call a reporter "sleaze." When a reporter pressed him on not following through with his promise to donate to vets he responded by calling the reporter "a nasty guy." Or remember Jorge Ramos? Trump told him to "sit down" and ejected him from a press conference.
Trump's supporters eat this up and heap praise upon him for "standing up to the media." As President that wouldn't change, and I'm sure he'd have press credentials revoked on a regular basis.

Re:There but for the grace of...
Because a random person on the internet equates to a national government?
We have random people on the Internet running for president. It's not that big a leap.
Think about the news in the past week. We had a Duck Dynasty guy speaking at the national convention of a major political party. We had another speaker at that convention claim that the opponent is "serving Lucifer". The clock is running on our moral superiority.

Re:Warning: Windows 10 is draining your battery
Chrome may be a bigger part of that than Linux.
I've an i5/4/128gb SP3 which is still running Windows 8.1. Recently I got annoyed at the modern IE so threw on Chrome and have been using it as the default browser for the last few weeks and have noticed a similar drop in battery life.
Granted I am by no means the only one to notice this:

Vote L or start a super PAC
The state legislatures are the ones that need to be removed/fired.
Bingo.
Democrats and Republicans are both equally culpable in the broadband shitshow.
Democrats and Republicans are not the only U.S. political parties. Case in point: Recent polls show Libertarian POTUS nominee Gary Johnson tied for second among millennials and independents.
And even if they were, there's still a way to tie a soap box to the ballot box. Form an IEOPAC around this issue with a policy of always supporting the opponent of each district's incumbent legislator, regardless of party affiliation, if the incumbent acts in the ISP cartel's favor.

...the democrats to get on the air quickly and start advocating for Banning ALL Assault Trucks immediately!!
Considering that a lot of the flappy headed media turned around and were using phrases like "children feared dead as truck attacks family event." It wouldn't surprise me. So far I've seen CBC, NYT, WAPO and CBS all using language that would make you think the truck got up all on it's own and decided to attack people.

For now just a rumourMaybe it is true, maybe it is not but as of now according to his campaign manager
Re: @realDonaldTrump VP selection, a decision will be made in the near future and the announcement will be tomorrow at 11am in New York.
So, until now at least, it seems to be only a rumour and I wouldn't put past one planted by his campaign to generate buzz to his announcement tomorrow.

Re:Why do they suddenly care?
Now that things like WhatsApp are available for the desktop as well as mobile
I thought users still needed to run WhatsApp for mobile in order to log in to WhatsApp for desktop, and users still needed a smartphone with an SMS plan to be able to activate WhatsApp for mobile. So if you switch from Skype to WhatsApp, what do you use to communicate with people who don't use a smartphone? I ask this because I want to switch from Skype to something else, and if my boss chooses to switch to WhatsApp, I would have to buy a smartphone and a plan in order to continue to be able to do my job. (My current phone costs me $22.40 every 90 days to run, as I tend to do longer conversations over Skype.)

Re:What's Johnson's super PAC?
Thanks for the pointers to PurplePAC and Matt Kibbe's AlternativePAC. I plan to check them out this week and give if they appear worthy, though it appears AlternativePAC doesn't have its own website yet.
As for ethics, I look to the GNU project's use of copyleft, a class of licenses that uses copyright to protect the rights of users. If for-profit interests can hire someone "to petition the Government for a redress of grievances" or to exercise "the freedom of speech" on their behalf, then in theory, so can the public. IEO PACs supporting a Libertarian would pervert the perversion in a similar manner.

Re:As it's been said...
And it's not deceitful to suggest that they made an informed and well-considered decision when the most popular search query in the UK the following day was "what is the EU"?
Oh sorry, second after "What does it mean to leave the EU." Thanks for correcting me and strengthening my argument. These people had no fucking clue what just happened the day before.
These are religious statements.
That's a glib way to hand-wave away any argument. Leaving the EU was a clear-cut economic loss no matter how you look at it. What was gained in return for all this loss? I'd like to know, honestly. A token morsel of autonomy, apparently insufficient to deliver any of the promises of the Leave backers. Now they're struggling to make some token immigration restriction to appease the xenophobes.

Re:As it's been said...
Would you think a second vote would be more acceptable if as a condition of holding it, there could be no third vote?
No, I don't think there is any reason to hold a second vote at all.
And it's not deceitful to suggest that they made an informed and well-considered decision when the most popular search query in the UK the following day was "what is the EU"?
When the decision was objectively stupid unless you hate the concept of the EU's power more than the trillions in economic damage currently being wrought? The decision to leave is not a decision an informed populace would make for any reason other than an overpowering tantrum of xenophobia and jingoism, which didn't seem to match the public's mood. It was made due to extreme ignorance.
These are religious statements.

Re:Not surprising
You are an idiot if you think a basic shape == racist!
The swastika is a basic shape also. If Trump had included that in a tweet, would you defend that as well?
The fact is, certain shapes can and do have connotations, especially in the context of politics. Trump probably didn't realize the connotation carried by that shape (placed in front of a pile of money, no less!) when he forwarded the image, because he's so politically naive; but the symbolism wasn't lost on the public.
Second, the "neo-nazi site" was 8chan/pol. It wasn't Stormfront. It was a fucking image board on
/pol.Oh. Well, I guess that's okay then.
The image was created by @FishBoneHead1, who is quite clearly an anti-Semite. You can play lawyer-ball and claim that it's possible that he just chose that shape at random, but it doesn't pass the smell test, and Trump should have known better than to repost it.

Re:Do any normal people use Twitter?
Yes. Twitter is an excellent networking tool. The best way to use it is through the "search" box at the top right. Just now I typed in "Utah 3d Printer" https://twitter.com/search?q=U... and found stories about a Utah surgery and find https://3dprint.com/139265/bea... a story about use of 3d printers to use CAT scans to print a copy of her kidney, revealing the hidden tumor. If I was in Utah and involved in 3d printing, I'd now have a list of users who "tweeted" the story and some of them might likely become part of a useful network. I have actual examples as well where it has been of tremendous usefulness to me.
I see you aren't making much use of your @AnonymousCoward handle. For sure, there are many people on Twitter who don't know how to make most effective use of it... perhaps proportional to the internet community at large.

Hashtags explained
Why did you prefix some of your words with a #?
On Twitter, a word beginning with # is a hashtag. A hashtag is displayed as a link to a page of search results for other recent Tweets containing the same hashtag. Users use hashtags to group Tweets by subject.
-
There is a verified account badge
Twitter already has a VIP badge, currently displayed as a white checkmark on a blue eight-lobed shape. Occasionally the loss of this badge
What you recommend amounts to requiring all verified accounts to use 2-factor authentication. But that'll be impractical until Twitter starts allowing second factors other than SMS, such as TOTP (e.g. Google Authenticator) or a U2F key. As of the last time I checked, a single phone line could be associated with only one account. Trying to use a single phone line as the second factor for both your personal account and the business account that you manage produces an error message: "The phone number you gave us [...] is currently used by another Twitter account. Only one account can be used with a mobile phone at a time."
Has this changed?

Re:Binge on
Show me an automated approval section, or alternatively a user-submitted list of services they would like on the unlimited channel, and you'll see me happily recede into the shadows.
You can find out how to request that a service be added to Binge-On here by clicking the link titled "Request a video streaming service to Binge On " and following the instructions in the resultant lightbox. I'll even save you the trouble of clicking; here's what it says:
Want to see your favorite video streaming service added to Binge On?
We want all of your favorite video streaming services to be included as a part of Binge On. If your go-to video streaming service isn’t part of the program yet, tweet us your favorite service @TMobile, along with the hashtag #BingeOn. If they meet our requirements, we’ll investigate the feasibility of adding them. No one pays to join and no money is exchanged. If you are a streaming service provider Click here, send us an email and we’ll get back to you to begin the process. For more information about technical criteria, Click here. T-Mobile will review all submissions to ensure identification of video stream and technical requirements, including optimization for mobile viewing. Only T-Mobile is committed to maximizing YOUR choice and providing access to as many great providers as possible. It would appear that the list you are requesting is available by searching Twitter for the hashtag #BingeOn. Alternately, you can probably click the mailto: link provided and email them to request that list.
Just a quick browse through those search results reveals the following user requests: beIN Sports, Amazon Video (which is already participating), twitch.tv, Periscope, DiSH Network (interestingly, DirecTV participates), byutv, MSNBC, CNN, Watch ABC, and FOX NOW. That's 10, all requested in the past 10 days; the list, of course, goes on. -
