Re:Gentoo bought by Microsoft
No, actually you've cited text from the Wikipædia, a wicked parody of the source for all true knowledge, the Uncyclopedia. The Wikipædia was created by two Uncyclopedia vandals, Jimbo and un-Larry and should be disregarded . The Uncyclopedia was created by Oscar Wilde and inspired by Sophia. Hope that clears things up.

Re:I love X2I am glad someone got the joke I made. Bollocks to those who rated my comment offtopic, I got mod points too, suckas!
Was Derek Smart involved in this X2 game? Did he make the enemy Coca Cola vending machines or something? Why should I even bother to play a game that does not even have an original sounding name, and sounds like an obvious X-Men ripoff, or at least an X-Com ripoff.

Gentoo bought by Microsoft
I thought that Gentoo was purchased by Microsoft during the whole Daniel Robbins debacle.

Parent forgot 'balls'
I watched the whole thing, with English subtitles. The acting sucked, but that's to be expected. The dialogue either really really sucked or was really badly translated, but I'm guessing both - there is no way anything good was in Swedish that translated to English so terribly. And the plot was downright stupid - not funny. See Uncyclopedia's page on how to be funny and not just stupid.

Re:New Category
Why use a 100gb device to haul your files around? You can mod an iPod Nano [uncyclopedia.org] to 200GB.
Holy crap! that was good.
You had me all set for some elegant looking finished product. This is more like Frankenstein's monster! -

Ha! We all know that ninjas are better and smarter than pirates. The average ninja has an IQ 50 points higher than the average pirate, plus they can flip out and kill people! They cut off people's heads all the time without even thinking about it. Therefore, ninjas are way better than pirates. QED.
Yeah, ninjae are totally sweet: http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Ninjas -
Space Elevator
I know we're beating this topic to death... but that $250 billion would have gone a long way towards Space Elevator research and construction!

PSP Firmware 2.0 Warnings
Here is a list of PSP 2.0 Firmware features so really who wants to downgrade to 1.5 of the Firmware anyway? Sure there are a few warnings, so what? The PSP 2.0 Firmware upgrade works good enough for most people's needs. After all, you bought a PSP not a Nintendo DS, because of the Sony Quality and the Sony good name and image, right?

Re:They forgot the #1 Sci-Fi show!
That was the wrong article to show. It doesn't show the seedy underbelly of it all.
Here's the real skinny. -
Re:Sheesh, get over yourself
How about: Uncyclopedia?

Re:I love WIkipedia.
I think that's cool too. Wikipedia is not nearly as cool to use than http://uncyclopedia.org/ for that purpose. LOL!

As does Uncyclopedia
It reminded me of the intro to Four wedding and a funeral, personally. -
Re:mini-microsoft
Bah... frickin' laser beams are old school. Eye-rays are the new hotness.

Yeah, that trick always works.
Yes indeed. The X Window System showed us just what excellence in graphic design you can get when you leave it to furry-toothed programmers whose computer permanently displays a screen filled with green-on-black terminal sessions, plus a minimised Opera for their pr0n.

Re:What a stupid thing!I would go so far to say that, aside from people like journalists who write for a living, Slashdotters are the most literate people around.
I suspect I'm not the only person here who falls into both categories - although I do tend to let my writing standard slip a bit on Slashdot. You can get some idea of the literary standard of Slashdot from the spelling and grammar Nazis:
- They exist - on other boards they would be more than 50% of the total message volume. At least Slashdot is close enough to correct English usage that that it's worth correcting.
- They are not that common - when people do say it's instead of its then they are usually flamed about it (I seem to get around 2-3 Nazis per typo - I'll probably get a few for this post). In spite of this, they are still a relatively small proportion of the total number of posts.

Re:Move on NASA!
Well, in all honesty, it doesn't really matter one way or the other. No need to get angry with them, its not really their fault, they have little choice. Pity them. What I have observed is that people who were born into religous families can never get over the nagging feeling of "what if I'm wrong?"
Thank GOD (snicker) my parents were atheists. Our brains are wired with basic beliefs, almost instincts, as early children, and shaking the basic wiring of religion is very hard to do. They are absolutely insane, but fully functional as worker bees. (err, name calling again!)

why all the anti-Flying Spaghetti Monsterism?
While it sounds like a lot of fun for the researchers involved, and anything that stems the spiral of the US into a culture of anti-intellectualism is a good thing in my book.
Why do you hate His Noodliness?

Re:Here we go again...
Look, you can believe whatever you want, as long as you don't try to use unproveable beliefs to tell others what to do. Like what to learn in school.
Evolution is a theory. This means that it is probably true, but there can be a mistake. A theory is defined as:
A hypothesis that has withstood extensive testing by a variety of methods, and in which a higher degree of certainty may be placed. A theory is NEVER a fact, but instead is an attempt to explain one or more facts.
Isaac Newton created laws of motion that were accepted as law (even stronger than a theory) for centuries, but he was eventually proven wrong by Albert Einstein. I believe that evolution is how life came to be as it is, but that doesn't make it true. There are problems with evolution, such as the likelyhood that something as complex as a human brain evolved in only 4 billion years. There are also serious problems with Intelligent design, like why anyone who had a choice would design an asshole like me.
Mostly, though, I'll go with Uncyclopedia's views on the topic:
