You didn't answer the question
How do your words taste after you had to eat them, after stating you doubted I was part of SuperCache by SuperSpeed.com/EEC Systems?
* Face it - you FAILED, troll...

Sorry, I won't visit a site you control - I just wanted to see YOUR NAME in the credits for that program AS THE PROGRAMMER OF IT (sole programmer, not part of a team, showing YOU DID IT BY YOURSELF, without help or source from others or other sources) from somewhere online OTHER than a site you run (what IS your name anyhow?)
After all - I produced mine, easily... why can't you??
Plus, it's not a commercially sold program either... despite your b.s. that "NDA prohibit you talking" (that is TOTAL b.s. - if you wrote part of something like that, then HOW WOULD YOU CLAIM IT AS PART OF YOUR RESUME otherwise?)

Far from angry here - more laughing @ this point, especially about the "NDA" b.s. you tried to feed me... lol!

LMAO - Jay Little was "shot down in flames" on Memory Optimizers unstalling Exchange Servers by "yours truly" (me) over @ Windows IT Pro magazine's forums here:
Where he stated he was (literally) "An Expert on Exchange"!
To that, I produced Microsoft's OWN DOCUMENTATION on it?
Jay Little shut up & ran!
(Well, after *trying* to "troll me" on RamDisks & IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO abends/errs (which signals driver or hardware failure iirc) over @ NTCompatible.com when he followed me to there from Windows IT Pro - which got him banned @ NTCompatible too, lol)....
Then, he began email harassing me, & making death threats... this all got Jay Little REMOVED from his hosting provider CrystalTech.com too (lmao).
He's still "sore" from defeating himself (just as YOU have here, troll)...

"Mr. Microsoft" - I've SEEN your talent level
"But where *are* they?? Most of the candidates from domestic CS programs are, frankly, very weak candidates." - by bratmobile (550334) on Friday September 28, @11:11AM (#41488555)
They are certainly NOT YOU, because I've seen the "mettle" of MS mgt. in terms of understanding in Computer Science (having gotten 1 of your SENIOR MGT. people to concede points of mine) -> http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1467692&cid=30384918
I wasn't impressed by that from he, & in fact?
FAR from it in fact!
Why?
Well, since it told me that YOUR MGT. @ MS IS NOT THAT "SAAVY" IN COMPUTER SCIENCES @ ALL!
Thus:
WHO ARE YOU & YOURS TO COMMENT ON WHO KNOWS WHAT?? Especially those of you in mgt. roles!
(Especially considering that the person noted, Foredecker, has his CSC degree too!)
---
I've done the same to one of your TOP PhD's too (Dr. Mark Russinovich) catching VERY ROOKIE HARDCODES IN HIS WORK!
To which I had to tell him how/when/where/why/what he "screwed up" on & how to correct for it via the NtAPI (native) call interface to make it right -> http://www.pcmech.com/article/defragging-the-windows-page-file/ & at least HE thanked me via email for it...
That, as well as my proving way, Way, WAY AHEAD OF TIME that "dedicating all free RAM to cache" would NOT work on VISTA vs. Dr. Mark Russinovich too - to which he was UNABLE TO COMBAT MY POINTS/EXAMPLES, backed by MS' own documentations no less!
(*NIX's manage memory GLOBALLY is why, Windows doesn't)
To which YOUR COMPANY MICROSOFT WAS FORCED TO ISSUE PATCHES to reduce cache memory aggression -> http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/internals-and-architecture/the-memory-optimization-hoax
In addition to how memory optimization programs unhalt frozen/stalled exchange servers, terminal servers, database engines, & FAR more...
(So much for PhD's too, eh?)

"There are exceptions, but they are exceptions." -
There certainly ARE, even @ Microsoft... that much I've shown by EXAMPLE from both your mgt., AND your "top flite engineers"...
APK
P.S.=> Unless YOU have spent years-to-decades "hands-on 'in the trenches'"? Who are YOU to judge anyone on their skillset?? I say that not to YOU so much personally, as I do the ENTIRE mgt. strata in any company in this art & science of computing...

Re:OS X is THE superior OS
As a long time and current systems programmer I would never claim any OS is virus proof. I never did make such a claim. The fact remains that Linux and OS X are far less susceptible to viruses than Windows.
I'm sorry, but you're not a very experienced systems programmer if you think any massive, monolithic operating system written by 10,000+ people over decades long periods is less susceptible to viruses than any other. If anything, after years of being lanced by virus writers, I suspect Windows has fewer holes and flaws than OS X. Even apple has the PR machine in reverse, after riding that misconception for years.
http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/paul-thurrotts-wininfo/security-expert-windows-7-secure-mac-os-140118
http://www.techradar.com/us/news/software/operating-systems/apple-tones-down-claims-regarding-os-xs-unassailable-security-1087070This has been an issue of opportunity and bang for the buck virus writing. Security companies find huge gaping holes in OSX all the time, and eventually Apple fills them. If there were no such holes, why the fixes? Yeah, thats right...people don't fix what wasn't broken.
In the meanwhile, I've gotten exactly zero viruses of any kind on any machine in my household. We use free virus protection, don't surf russian porn sites, and don't click on any dialogue boxes that say "Kan I install my foobar mach 7 browser helper now?". I do see some malware occasionally on some extended family machines, but they were installing random free software, and frankly you can see some of the same problems doing that with a mac...
But the brain has to have a justification for spending too much money on something, so when the air comes out of the virus thing, I'm sure someone will find some obscure and likely incorrect reason to buy these things.

Jay Little "the self-proclaimed Exchange Expert"?
LMAO - I blew him away on THAT very statement -> http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/internals-and-architecture/the-memory-optimization-hoax search "Jay Little" on that page...
(In fact? All of arstechnica's big trolls in Jeremy Reimer especially by impersonating others & being caught in that, email harassment, & both Little + Reimer had their websites removed for libel from their hosting providers, CrystalTech & Shaw, respectively) massively FAILED vs. myself... bigtime!)
Heck. Even Dr. Mark Russinovich a former "co-worker" of mine @ sunbelt selling our wares (mine outsold his in fact), whom I corrected his work in pagedefrag.exe hardcodes JUST before that article came out?
He couldn't dispute that memory optimizers unstall halted Exchange Servers, Terminal Servers, Databases & more + I told them all "VISTA WILL FAIL DOING OVER AGGRESSIVE CACHINGS" &, it did... MS had to lessen it in a patch!.
So much for PhD's, eh, as well as "self-proclaimed" exchange experts, like Jay Little (beating HIM on HIS OWN BALLCOURT? Priceless...)
Little & Reimer later brought in a doctoral candidate student who posts here named StarKruzr (Jarrett DeAngelis) whom I busted LYING not admitting that's his real name (I had ways of determining that, which are a LOT like how I post here as much as I want, lol), & he?
* He ENDED UP AGREEING WITH A GOOD 99% of what I said there... eat that, trolls!

"Microsoft did this to purposely piss of APK, because even they could stand seeing his posts despite his praise for their products." - by Anonymous Coward on Sunday August 19, @06:11PM (#41048867)
Hahaha, good one - my points on hosts files still "stand strong" here though, regardless of your conspiracy theory & challengers actually TAKING MY CHALLENGE FOR ONCE -> http://tech.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=3058625&cid=41048439
(Which I like, a LOT - you do NOT get stronger from praise... criticism, + valid nitpicking, & even ADVERSITY, make you stronger! Which IS what I am looking for on my post on hosts!)
---
"They knew that using the host file was still a good idea and made sure there was a work around." - by Anonymous Coward on Sunday August 19, @06:11PM (#41048867)
Well, if not? I'd figure one out, or code it... that's just "what I do"/"how I roll"... see my other posts on THAT note.

"They just wanted to make sure there were more hoops to jump through to make APK dance a little more." - by Anonymous Coward on Sunday August 19, @06:11PM (#41048867)
LOL, that's ok - I've made one of their "Princes" dance a bit too, former co-worker of mine, over @ Windows IT Pro, on a NUMBER of things -> http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/internals-and-architecture/the-memory-optimization-hoax
Correcting errors in HIS work too, the PhD no less... in hardcode ROOKIE errors, and showing, eventually that over aggressive caching would FAIL in Vista (and, it did), that memory optimizers reduce what stalls Exchange Servers, Terminal Servers, Databases & more...
So, IF you're right? Well... I suppose, they OWE me one, lol!
(I respect Mr. Russinovich immensely though, differences over time, or not).
I loved it when he wouldn't SHOW to debate me & I used this against he to try "goad" him out for a DIRECT confrontation, much like Achilles vs. Hector (I said that, lol, "hector, Hector... HECTOR").
He knows who I am, or ought to... lol, & far before that too (not on good terms either, as competitors working for the SAME company but I outsold him).
(A Killeus, son of Peleus from the classic film "TROY" & since the middle initial is usually the father's name? APK works, lol!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VCcvdrhn3M
"Is there no one else? IS THERE NO ONE ELSE??
That, was classic... one of my "better triumphs" online in fact, over time, over a "great one"...
Another's getting one of their mgt. to AGREE WITH MY POINTS ON HOSTS FILES HERE ON
/. (that smaller blocking addresses & caching of the hosts file, which it will do like any other file in the local kernelmode diskcaching subsystems):http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1467692&cid=30384918
So, perhaps? Yes, they MAY "owe me one" but that day? Is NOT today... not on hosts!
Personally, I feel MS is devolving into a marketing company & needs a guy like Dr. Mark Russinovich leading it (said it in my other posts here in fact) rather than men like Mr. Ballmer... Dr. Mark's the CLOSEST & superior to, Mr. Bill Gates, "King Billy" the original prototype success man @ MS (I call him that out of respect, not ridicule, in fact).
APK
P.S.=> Ah, anyhow - it's been FUN listening to your entertaining theory/conspiracy, but, I doubt it... apk

Re:VIRUS WARNING
Found 30 pages of programming in Delphi n computer security contributions he made of decent note. He explained away the one about Thor Schmuck here in reply to you here http://yro.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=3022017&cid=40874891 and he was truthful about it. The other "bad one" from Jay Little is obviously just another disgrunted tool apk got the best of here http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/internals-and-architecture/the-memory-optimization-hoax after I looked up "APK" and "Jay Little" on Google. Search "exchange server" on that page from Windows IT Pro forums and you see why Jay Little posted bad things about APK. APK floored him on that very topic when Jay Little literally claimed to be an expert in it. Of course you're just an anonymous coward troll that stalks apk by anonymous posts so which one of those morons are you? Jay Little or Thor Schmuck?

Take a look at W2K12 File Server and SMB 3.0
I suggest taking a look at Windows Server 2012 File Server role - W2K12 - deduplication is an in box feature
- SMB Multichannel - better performance uisng 4 TCP channels
- Storage Spaces - SAN like features with no special hardware (this is not dynamic volume)
- Thin provisioning - using Spaces, Windows can create TP LUNs
- NFS 4 server - in box role in W2K12
- Resilient File System (ReFS) - high degree of compatibility with the most common NTFS features, but has resiliency and scalability features that go beyond NTFS
- Windows Server Backup - now supports backup to the cloud (in box feature)
- Support for Hyper-V VMs - now Hyper-V supports running VMs using a file server and SMB 3.0
- Scale-out - with more than one server, File Server can be configured in a scale out mode for better scalability

Full disclosure: I do work for Microsoft. I am a senior program manager on the Virtual Machine Manager team. I work on Storage Automation using SNIA SMI-S/ My blog is: http://blogs.technet.com/b/hectorl -
Interesting (here's how I do it by comparison)
I got an MS VP of the "Windows Client Performance Division" to concede that on
/. as well - he had to (since tinier files read/write faster than big ones) -> http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1467692&cid=30384918Sort of the SAME IDEA you're propounding - though I've never seen it done like you're stating!
(So, assuming you're being "straight" on this here? Well - "live & learn", & just when I thought I "knew it all" on hosts files - I'd have to try what you're stating to find out if it's true, but for now @ least, I'll take your word on it).
So, why are 0, &/or 0.0.0.0 faster & better on disk and reads than 127.0.0.1? Common-Sense, first of all!
E.G.-> Well, the first octet(s) IS/ARE 2-7 bytes (16 bits) smaller each entry used is why: COMMON-SENSE!
I.E.-> Thus, over a large amount of entries this makes for FASTER loadtime from disk into your local Cache and since 0 is smaller than both 0.0.0.0 &/or 127.0.0.1 for blocking entries!
(That also doesn't perform a "loopback operation" either, bonus!)
0 (and 0.0.0.0) are essentially analogs to a DROP request vs. 127.0.0.1 doing essentially a DENY request (as in firewalls) and a loopback operation directing back to itself, you have more efficient operations doing 0 or 0.0.0.0 vs. 127.0.0.1, the "loopback adapter" and its address (yes, even on Windows where there is a loopback adapter one may bind to a protocol (which is only a dummy driver for systems that have no NIC in them, see here in that regard) -> http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/john-savills-windows-faqs/what-is-the-microsoft-loopback-adapter-and-why-do-i-need-it-for-sql-server-.aspx )
APK
P.S.=> The shame of it changing in VISTA onwards (&, it has) is simple:
Before 12/09/2008 "MS Patch Tuesday", VISTA could use 0 as a leading blocking "ip address" (vs. 0.0.0.0 or worst case, 127.0.0.1) - it no longer can, & neither can Server 2008 or Windows7!
That UNQUESTIONABLY leads to bloating inefficiency, & especially over LARGE AMOUNTS OF HOSTS FILE ENTRIES, especially @ initial loads time.
Funniest part is, before SP#2 (iirc) on Windows 2000, you couldn't use 0 either, but post-SP#2 for Win2k, you could (& this continued right into Windows XP &/or Server 2003 also, which STILL CAN USE 0 as a valid shorter/faster/more efficient blocking "ip address" in hosts files)... apk
-
I don't see that & I use MS Sec. Essentials...
"Another problem with the Windows hosts file: if you're running Microsoft Security Essentials, it will view modificaitons to the hosts file as a virus and remove them." - by arbulus (1095967) on Wednesday June 20, @01:17PM (#40387273)
Funny - it doesn't do that here on Windows 7 64-bit, & with the latest update to MS Security Essentials, both the app itself AND its updated data files, daily.
* I wonder WHY that's happening for you...
---
I can, however, tell you 1 thing, for sure/certain, where MS is erring:
The local DNS clientside cache service has to be 'shutdown' with relatively LARGER hosts files...
I've shown + proven other facts about errors in that service, and things MS did to hosts files period, VISTA onwards, here:
All systems (VISTA after 12/09/2008 hotfix "Patch Tuesday" by Microsoft did so and now VISTA &/or Windows Server 2008 will NOT work using 0, but can use 0.0.0.0 for example & Windows 2000 pre Service Pack #1 will do the same - it will not use anything but 127.0.0.1).
REPORTED TO MICROSOFT by APK here -> http://blogs.msdn.com/b/e7/archive/2009/02/25/feedback-and-engineering-windows-7.aspx?CommentPosted=true&PageIndex=3#comments
And here on www.slashdot.org to a Richard Russell who posts as FOREDECKER there (he is a senior VP at Microsoft and leader of the "Windows Client Performance Division" there, or was then, & may have moved to another division)
Yes, and he conceded my points on HOSTS files also:
http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1467692&cid=30384918
So, why are 0, &/or 0.0.0.0 faster & better on disk and reads than 127.0.0.1? Which Jay Little claimed he was "expert" on, & when I proved he was wrong on that much!
(And yes, even Dr. Mark Russinovich and on more than just this - in the end, Microsoft HAD TO BACK DOWN on "dedicate all free RAM to cache" in VISTA, now didn't they? Yes, they did, lol!)
He can't handle he was WRONG publicly in front of millions of readers!
I.E.-> On how memory optimization tech can unfreeze/unhalt frozen exchange servers & using Microsoft's OWN DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE IT!
(Some "exchange expert", eh? Not... that happens, due to memory fragmenation, which after a memory optimizer runs, the memory mgt. subsystem will reload the data from pagefile.sys into CONTIGUOUS BLOCKS, stopping that from happening...)
Funniest part is, Microsoft's OWN TOOL, clearmem.exe, which functions the same as a GUI memory optimizer, was the tool noted to do it!
LOL!
You had better find "better experts" to refer to... lol!
Jay Little, after THAT? He ran... well, not until he tried trolling me on another website NTCompatible.com & I blew him away on SSD/Ramdisks, and IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO stopcode on BSODs... that means either a driver or hardware failure.. he blew it on THAT too!
3 in a row... again, find better "experts" to troll me with, because thusfar, after you avoided questions I asked in my post you first replied to here -> http://yro.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=2802947&cid=39771369 because your avoding them only shows that you are NOT very "expert" in the computer sciences @ all yourself!
Jay Little also got his website removed from his then hosting provider CrystalTech.com for making death threats to myself, and libeling me also... They told me he would just do it again, & he has...
The mark of FAIL online? Is not admitting what the REAL STORY IS, and fatboy Jay Little doesn't do THAT does he?? Nope.
You're not doing very well (piss poor is more like it, lol) - find better "experts" to go @ me with, because so far for you, it's been one HUGE "fail"...
APK
P.S.=> After Jay Little came into those forums trolling myself , along with Jeremy Reimer, another "fake-it-till-you-make-it" degreeless in the computer sciences moron who was:
1.) Off-topic the entire time trolling
2.) Libelled myself making 'songs' & edited 'pictures' of me
3.) Email harassed me repeatedly, and was put on a tracking ticket for email harassment by his ISP Shaw of Canada
4.) Impersonated myself on his website too
Then. a Detective Felton of the Vancouver British Columbia police force got wind of it? Reimer PROMPTLY stopped!

Another ne-erdowell immitating APK LOL
Did you know, that Jeremy Reimer (of you OSY site there @ pegasus3d.com no less) admitted to impersonating me on his website? Right here:

That's right. See for yourself there, it's plain-jane quotes of his own words (my favorite tactic along with facts)...
Sad!
Read on, that part about him ONLY gets better as we go... This is so others can consider the source & all that... it's arstechnica/osy hilarity, @ its finest! I posted that earlier here anyhow, your ADD mental problems must have prohibited you from recalling it, right?
Well there tis again for your reference!
Plus, all that, in ADDition to his ISP busting him for email harassing me as well... he's touched! Remind YOU of anyone, hehe?
It's ALL there on that page url above anyways.
E.G. -> Some weird stuff, almost as bad as your 'secret admirer' internet weirdo psycho stalker profile you keep of ME on YOUR site... that's creepy stuff man, honestly! I hope you realize that... this from YOUR site, about me:
http://paperlined.org/apps/slashdot/anonymous_APK [paperlined.org] [paperlined.org]
lol! Flaky stuff imo, & as I noted above? Way, way off about me on many accounts!
Some of which like saying I have narcissistic something or other, and you admitting your fruity in the brain with ADD? Hell, that's funny man, it TRULY is!
Jeremy Reimer also wrote childish libellous songs about me, & more too (like edited photos etc.)... & the strange part, the really weird part??
The guy's 33 years of age - the "sheer maturity" of Arstechnica/OSY forums people, lol, eh?
Like I said, it's up there @ that URL!
Ah, anyhow:
Oh & Yea - My job's just fine. I like it! Forensics stuff, & data security etc. in nature MOSTLY...
PLUS, There is no "making up lawyers" in my world, not @ all. I keep one on retainer in fact, it's worth it just in case etc. & for GOOD reasons!
(This is because I enter into contracts & early on a decade or so ago? Well, I got burned once pretty bad, being told I would get one wage, & then being paid, lol (got suckered) minimum wage one time because my headhunter burnt me, I never signed off a contract with him (written one, all verbal)).
Shit like that, lol, (I can laugh about it now, my bad, it was 10 years back now)? Teaches you lessons!
I do have work though, pretty cool job (not coding as much as I would like to be doing) but more "forensics" in nature, & for a HUGE financial firm (which shall remain nameless, I don't give out that kind of info., not until job is done/thru etc. @ least).
:)* Risk mgt./Anonymity & all that... unlike your posting your personal weirdness about me here (which is WAY off base stuff... flaky actually, but coming from you, after I know now you do have mental issues & probably are on somekind of meds (are you?)) here in my P.S. below & the other paperlined.org url about me above... lol, Well, man... I dunno about you! Again - "Dr. Arkham Asylum" would be a GOOD nickname/handle for you imo, lol!
(Especially with YOUR trying to 'diagnose me' medically on your page url up there on your site, lol... that's CERTAINLY rich! Pot calling the kettle black? Oh, lol, hell yea, absolutely!)
I would like to see your PhD in Psychiatry &/or Psychology first though, might lend credence to your bottom-line @ that URL above about me on your site, lol!

Win 7/VISTA/Server 2008 = worse in 1 way
Microsoft took out a more efficient block method in hosts files in those versions of Windows!
To wit:
I'd even discussed this with the THEN head of the "Windows Client Performance Division" who posts here as "Foredecker" (Richard Russell), who said he'd 'get back to me on it' & he couldn't & WOULDN'T even try to DENY I was correct on it also and agreed with me too no less...
See here on that note:
http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1467692&cid=30384918
So, how & WHY are 0, &/or 0.0.0.0 faster & better on disk + reads than 127.0.0.1 is?
Well, the first octet(s) IS/ARE 2-7 bytes (16 bits) smaller each entry used is why: COMMON-SENSE!
Thus, over a large amount of entries (or even smaller ones, just less noticeable) in hosts files record entries??
The usage of 0 (shortform), vs. 0.0.0.0 (longform) or worse, 127.0.0.1 (loopback adapter address) just makes for FASTER loadtime & parsing hosts from disk into your local Caches!
(Be that the local diskcache, which is used in lieu of the faulty DNS clientside cache service on larger hosts files with its inflexible fixed size static structures it uses)!
Also, since 0 (and 0.0.0.0 too, the LongForm of that) perform no "loopback operation" and is an analog to a DROP request essentially vs. 127.0.0.1 doing essentially a DENY request (as in firewalls) and a loopback operation directing back to itself?
Via using 0, you have the MOST efficient operations doing 0 (or even 0.0.0.0 but less so due to larger size) vs. 127.0.0.1, the "loopback adapter" & its address!
(Yes, even on Windows where there is a loopback adapter one may bind to a protocol (which is only a dummy driver for systems that have no NIC in them, see here in that regard -> http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/john-savills-windows-faqs/what-is-the-microsoft-loopback-adapter-and-why-do-i-need-it-for-sql-server-.aspx ))
He never did 'get back to me' on it though!
Figures!
Still - you'd think he would since he was the head of a division @ MS as a Senior VP there in said area of "performance" of the Windows client OS' - I was quite disappointed.
* Lastly on this note?
This is 1 AREA I WILL GIVEN LINUX THE "ADVANTAGE":
Linux's TCP/IP stack design, BSD based like Windows is (except for API masked access to it, sockets vs. winsock/winsock2 + lack of RAW sockets IN WINDOWS MODERN VERSIONS FOR SURE for anyone but admin level users (not sure if RAW sockets are denied in Linux though))?
Linux has no such problems using more efficient 0 blocking addresses in hosts files, as well as not having size limits on hosts files!
(Which the faulty local DNS clientside cache service in Windows does also! I.E.-> Use too large of a hosts file for its static sized buffer structures vs. its FIFO algorithm for aging entries in cache? It lags your system - again, Linux has NO SUCH PROBLEM!)
APK
P.S.=> The "problem" is STILL THERE afaik also on Windows 7, VISTA, &/or Server 2008 (even R2 revision build of the latter)... & has NOT been corrected either!
Now - funniest part is, Windows 2000(SP2 onwards)/XP/Server 2003 will STILL let you use 0 vs. 0.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1!
(Again - 0's just plain smaller & faster on a couple grounds of parsing + no 'loopback' there either vs. 0.0.0.0 (less bad, but larger to parse) & 127.0.0.1 (worst case of all, larger to parse and can do a 'loopback' if the loopback adapter's installed).
REPORTED TO MICROSOFT by myself, APK, here -> http://blogs.msdn.com/b/e7/archive/2009/02/25/feedback-and-engineering-windows-7.aspx?CommentPosted=true&PageIndex=3#comments
Still no correction... dumb!

Re:Hear that, MSFT?
I'm not sure you know what you think you know (actually I am sure, you're as batty as a cave).
In 3.1 there might have been a vmm386 dll, but make no mistake, DOS ran the show. Windows was an application on top of a DOS shell. Additionally, no Windows OS, even to this day, is pre-emptive. They are time sliced. If you doubt this, run a tight loop with timed print statements, such as in a VM. The log clock will be in 16ms slices, for current MS OSes.
In Win 95/98/ME, no matter what MS tells you, the same holds true. They truly were applications running on top of DOS. If you don't agree with that statement, go look up DRDOS's lawsuit resolution in 2000 but originally filed in 96, about practices noted before then. Windows didn't even have the concept of a HAL until NT.
Any other delusions you'd like dismissed?

LOL MichaelNothing=clone54321=douchenozzle
Did you know, that Jeremy Reimer (of you OSY site there @ pegasus3d.com no less) admitted to impersonating me on his website? Right here:
http://www.windowsitpro.com/articles/index.cfm?art icleid=41095&cpage=124 [windowsitpro.com]
--------------
"Anyway the "APK" registered here is just an affectionate clone of the original. In fact I prefer him to the original." - Jeremy Reimer - March 25, 2005
--------------
That's right.
*
:)(And, again - if you don't like what I write? Heck, again - ADD & all on your end, so I have to repeat it so it becomes a routine you

Paranoia or real requirement?
Do you encrypt your home phone conversations? Do you encrypt you SMS text messages? Are your Facebook messages encrypted? Do people use email still?
So here's the general question. Why would I go through the trouble of encrypting a mail to my wife asking her, "Do I need to pickup milk?" The problem with PGP is that it requires the users to do something that normal users (non-techies) have no idea why and how to do it. For secure communications between companies that need to ensure their communications is private, securing communications between servers is usually good enough: http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/smtp/securing-smtp-email-traffic

Re:Windows 8
Furthermore, many people dislike Office 2007/2010 still so you are being very presumptuous in your argument. Here.
Many people in very specific places, like Slashdot, that usually isn't typical Office users or even care much about Office outside dissing on the ribbon dislike Office 2007/2010, while a ton of user research and sales show that users are happy with it. FTFY Seems nerds like on Slashdot is resisting change more than most others. Slashdot is still one of the few places I see a lot of people arguing against the concept of a phone being more than just to make phone calls, "social networking is stupid because if I want to talk to my friends I'll call or meet them", etc.

Facts over @ Windows IT Pro show otherwise
Quotes of Reimer's words, from his original website, are cited in my source from WindowsIT Pro - see the link below!
(Which Reimer then moved his website, & started up again elsewhere on another hosting provider, iirc, himself now as Jay Little who did the same + suggested Reimer do that no less!)
Jay Little, Reimer's 'partner in crime' was ousted from CrystalTech.com for the same no less, suggested he do that (move site to another server, one of his own preferably)
In fact - the folks from CrystalTech told me that Jay Little & Jeremy Reimer would do that in fact (& they have, just be recidivistic criminals & start it on another server again!)
That's again, ALL here, quoted as it happened & from the original sources:
* Jeremy Reimer, & Jay Little did all of what I stated, impersonating myself & others, email harassing myself, making threats to myself, editing my posts on arstechnica (which I caught GOD & MWNH using the SAME EMAIL ADDRESS for doing, proving they're the same guy, lol) & it was documented years ago!
(Reimer can change servers or hosting providers all he wants to, & re-alter his website all he wants, but the facts are set in stone over @ Windows IT Pro... no getting around that!)

Easily shot down adhominem attacks? Ok
Thor SCHMUCK listed an app of mine as a malware, others removed it once I passed Computer Associates 21 point test for removal (which got downgraded to NO THREAT levels - that's also happened to men like Dr. Mark Russinovich on his pstools suite in the past, & Nir Sofer as well - write them, ask them, they won't deny it (Nir & myself have had LONG discussions about that bogus practice by bogus security tools vendors).
On "bogus security tool vendors"? CA is the worst... & got caught in criminal accounting scandals:
Later? CA SOLD OFF THEIR BOGUS PC SECURITY SUITE THAT LISTED MINE & OTHER FOLKS DECENT TOOLS AS MALWARE ALSO!
Hilarious - when I took & passed all 21 questions on their malware removal test? It should have been REMOVED totally from their list (and "Thor Schmuck" is the one who submitted my single ware to CA mind you, he's not a security researcher & doesn't have a security cert, or even a CSC degree afaik either - he's NO EXPERT!)
Clue/New News/NewsFlash: Your attempts @ adhominem attacks, illogical & off topic as they are? Shot down easily... per the above & what's next below too!
---
Jeremy Reimer? LMAO - the infamous TROLL online who is no longer allowed to write for Arstechnica & iirc, hasn't since 2007 or thereabouts??
He trolled & stalked me, off topic the ENTIRE time, & was shot down along with his "self-proclaimed expert" on EXCHANGE SERVERS (Jay Little) who literally said he was an expert on exchange no less (but didn't realize memory optimizer code techniques could UNHALT lagged or frozen Exchange Servers, which I produced Microsoft's own documentation on no less & FAR more in favor of those programs too)? Please... Reimer, since he is unqualified & incompetent in computing, later brought in a Jarrett DeAngelis as another "henchman" when Little failed miserably (& trolled + stalked me to another forums after that too @ NTCompatible.com & got BANNED for it)? StarKruzr/Jarrett DeAngelis, then a doctoral candidate @ Notre Dame ENDED UP AGREEING WITH A GOOD 99% OF WHAT I STATED IN FAVOR OF MEMORY OPTIMIZERS & other things technical too!
Was hilarious! Reimer's pal Waarheid also was caught posting @ Windows IT Pro forums as Veritas... just Reimer doing it himself no doubt, after impersonating myself on his own puny forum nobody goes to, mind you, which he HAD TO ADMIT TO, under his ISP & law enforcement forcing it... lol!
He's TRULY, pitiful.
Reimer impersonated me on his forums, admitted to it, & also tried to impersonate Mr. Martin Meszaros who denounced he @ Windows IT Pro forums for it via email posted there, mind you... Reimer then posted libelous photos of myself he did edited to 'discredit me' only ending up looking like a childish fool there... he also email harassed me repeatedly & when his ISP Shaw of Canada put he on a tracking ticket, along w/ a det. Felton of Vancouver BC got ahold of him? He stopped... COLD!
(Was the BEST & FUNNIEST part of all)...

P.S.=> You CAN verify that here, easily -> http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/internals-and-architecture/the-memory-optimization-hoax#feedbackAnchor
See unlike yourself? I use REPUTABLE SOURCES & valid concrete verifiable documentations... unlike impersonations of myself & libelers of myself like Jeremy Reimer & arstechnica bullshit (I even caught them impersonating me there, editing my posts, & postings as alternate registered account guises to do so in GOD & MWNH (Man with No head, more like MAN WITH NO BALLS, lol) using the SAME EMAIL ACCOUNT to do so... they're pitiful, just like you!

You ask for proofs, but you never provide them
When YOU are asked to show works that have done well in the eyes of others professionally as I have been able to supply easily (and only a FRACTION of what I actually could)... you're all talk, b.s., & I have to say lies at this point on that note.
NOW - since you asked for proofs of myself and my words? I don't RUN AND LIE as you do... lol!
Facts that Jeremy Reimer of Arstechnica impersonated me, libeled myself, was off topic & trolling the ENTIRE TIME @ Windows IT Pro forums and got himself caught impersonating not only myself, but also a Mr. Martin Meszaros too, then lastly being SHOT DOWN IN FLAMES on Exchange Server being unstalled by memory optimization programs with backing proof from MS documentations, are below
I only state facts, and I posted links to that before on this site, but here you are again:
As to Thor Schmuck and CA? WELL, your sources are CRMINAL and disreputable:
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/215116/computer_associates_cofounder_led_22.html
Additionally?
Thor Schmuck's FAR from a "security researcher" - he doesn't even HAVE A CSC degree, for Pete's sake, or security certifications etc./et al!

P.S.=> Your foundations are CRUMBLING FAST, built on houses of sand, in your attempts to discredit myself - where you have shown us all that you MERELY TALK A "BIG GAME" but when YOU ARE ASKED FOR PROOFS? YOU HAVE ZERO, lol...
So, show us proof of your having done wares for others professionally, won't you? You can't and you KNOW it. Without said proofs as I can produce, you are full of it... period.
You also avoid the fact that Linux has shown itself numerous times to be shit for security, and RECENTLY too!

Mysql.com also
4 CA's for SSL security (very bad also)
Android Linux "fine security track record" (lol, not)
---
All/each of the above are all recently and widely known + documented by reputable sources worldwide...
Lastly, you certainly cannot show you've done more that others noted as good in written publications of respected note as I have, respected trade shows for commercial software code as I have, OR even in shareware/freeware as I have around the computer sciences... all while you were STILL IN DIAPERS I strongly wager up to the present day!)...
BOTTOM-LINE THOUGH, since you 'demand proofs'/links etc.:
Yes - you TALK A "BIG GAME" but when YOU ARE ASKED FOR PROOFS, especially of noted accomplishments that did well in the eyes of others in computing in publications, commercial ware code you have done, tech trade show placements/showings, books, magazines, newspapers, etc. as I have done more times than you ever will? YOU HAVE ZERO, just a lot of "talk" - you're a WINDBAG blowhard and pitiful, lol... apkb

Re:Reduced 2 more adhominem attacks?
Of course Linux isn't a mainstream OS on the desktop. I never claimed anything remotely like that. Your statement about Linux doesn't change the fact that the NT series wasn't mainstream until XP.
What do my accomplishments in the world have to do with anything we've been talking about? Your creepily obsessive need to compare yourself favorably to everyone is something that everyone who has read any of your trolling can spot easily. You create extra accounts to post from in support of yourself to talk about how great you are and how awful your detractors are. That's just pathetic. Now you feel that, because I've discovered just what you are, you have to try to make me out to be something lesser than your self-publicized greatness. You're crazy. Actually, I've begun to suspect that you might have some sort of medication issue. I've seen people act kind of like you in reaction to drugs like Paxil. Although, maybe some sort of amphetamine makes a better explanation.
Anyway, I am quite a bit younger than you, so I don't have as much time in the field. I don't have any big public accomplishments to point to. I've helped build two tech startups and been a jack of all trades. My last job title at the most recent one is senior network adminstrator (the senior in the title wasn't really deserved, it was just because when we started I was the only network administrator). The actual duties of that job are everything from network administration to client support to light application programming to lugging racks around and slicing my fingers up on poorly finished edges. I've made very minor contributions to a few free software projects (mostly in documentation) and that's about it. I'm not in academia. I don't have a big list of publications. Like most people, I do my job as well as I can, and work to learn new things and improve myself.
You don't seem to understand the logical paradox in crowing about being older than me, while simultaneously lambasting me for supposedly being less accomplished. You see, if you're mocking me for being in diapers when you were accomplishing supposed great things, that means you're comparing yourself against a baby and saying that you're terrific because you can do more than a baby. You demand that I show that I've done more than you, earlier than you. That's basically you setting the bar high for me and low for you. If the age difference between us is that big (from what I could tell, it's at least 15 years), then your list of accomplishments below, which starts in 1997, starts when you were at the very least a year or two older than I am now and probably more. That just underscores how crazy your argument is.
As for Ozymandias, I'm guessing that you haven't actually read the poem or you wouldn't be using that quote here. Here is the wikipedia page for the poem, which has a copy of it on the right. If you read the poem, it does actually describe you in many ways. The sneer on the face of the broken statue. The arrogant self-aggrandizement delivered oblivious to the fact that all the reader can see of the claimed great works are a barren wasteland. So, the quote works well for you, but I don't think that's how you intended it. The words themselves are a wonderful example of irony. Ozymandias intends for the reader to despair because they will never achieve his state of glory and power but, instead, if the reader despairs it's because they realize that even their own glory will wither and fade and be forgotten.
The windows NT magazine article you mention seems to be available online here. They don't mention you at all, just the software. They say it has serious bugs that locked up a system in one case so it could only be repaired with another copy of NT installed on a different partition. They also do say that, in some circumstances, it increased disk performance by about 10%, although it could also

Re:No you can't "grasp" it
Come on. 2000 was never particularly widely used. Only in business environments. The driver support was lacking for too much consumer-level hardware, for one thing. And of course, as you pointed out, games are important to mainstream acceptance, and 2000 didn't have the support from games companies. NT was even less mainstream. XP was the first mainstream NT derivative.
Anyway. I was interested in whether or not you were actually a career troll, or if it was just this one article you were posting on and you were having a bad week or something. So, I looked for you via google. It seems that you're pretty much a career troll. At least, it looks to me like just about everyone, just about everywhere you post thinks so. You can call this an Ad Hominem attack if you want, but an Ad Hominem attack isn't always a logical fallacy. When it bears on your character and your actual ability to engage in rational debate it's perfectly valid. An example would be someone who insists that the moon landings were faked because rocketry is impossible and refuses to even look at the mountain of evidence that thousands of rockets have been launched or to look through a telescope at the artificial satellites. In such a case, calling the person crazy might technically be an Ad Hominem attack, but it's not a logical fallacy.
So, anyway, some great links related to you:
This one about a situation where you threatened to sue over a piece of software of yours being identified as malware. It seems to me you could have worked with them to resolve the issue amicably, but you couldn't help yourself. This insane thread that you posted to for years. My favorite quote from it is: "Great Scott! APK's numerous and highly repetitious responses read like examples from a freshman textbook on logical fallacy and deceptive rhetoric." I think that poster had you pegged perfectly.
This exchange which was absolutely hilarious. That one really was worth a LOL!
This has a list of some of your ars technica posts. You seem to have been hated there right from the start for good reason. The fact that you seem to have believed that C++ was dying, but that Delphi was the future is hilarious. It's also really funny when you post under a different alias pretending to be some random person supporting you. It's so blatantly obvious that it's you, even when you use a handle like Cybordeath. I'm a bit disturbed by some of the racism, homophobia and misogyny in some of your posts, by the way. Your temper seems to have calmed a bit over the years. Your fundamental troll nature seems to be coming through even more as you age, however.
So, basically, you're a very well known troll, which is an accomplishment, I suppose. Getting sucked into long flame wars with you doesn't seem wise, and it looks like any discussion with you pretty much has to turn into a flame war.

I've corrected your "expert" before
First, see subject-line above:
"Im not sure who you are other than an AC who goes by APK, but Mark Russinovich is one of the leading experts on all things windows, and has made some of the absolute best troubleshooting tools for digging into Windows issues out there." - by LordLimecat (1103839) on Saturday October 08, @09:25PM (#37651492)
I had to show him how/where/when/why a program of his (pagedefrag.exe) had definite "rookie level" hardcodes in it (regarding pagefile.sys location, & registry hive locations also, which the latter I do not *think* he has corrected) I had to tell him about, and give him the code/API's (NtNative type) to correct it. For such an "expert" who "knows all about Windows", he made a poor showing there.
He & I used to do work for the same companies in the 1990's, & yes, he's done some good work, no questions asked...
However, my point was, he's NOT "perfect" nor "all-knowing" & "little ole' me" had to correct him in fact... no questions asked.
He also overlooked a great deal about how/when/where/why memory optimizers are useful, and yes, in terms of memory starvations (one of which YOU yourself brought up, exchange).
I merely pointed that out to he (along with others using diff. scenarios), & he could not combat it. It was a clear error on his part.
I, and others also, offered SEVERAL OTHER SCENARIOS over @ Windows IT Pro also where they are useful as well (terminal servers, firefox, & others) because of memory fragmentations issues.
No questions asked & argue with the facts. See them in the URL below if need be...

You can add more monospaced TrueType fonts to the Command window.
You can enable copy/paste. Click on the Window icon left side, Properties. Select Options [x] Quick Edit Mode, [x] Insert Mode. The command window has had that for 15+ years or more.
Enabling color in the command window is pretty simple as well. It has had that for 15 or 20+ years.

HBGary email that ought 2 concern U ALL
This really bothered me, don't know about the rest of you:
PERTINENT QUOTES/EXCERPTS:
"According to an embedded MS Word document found in one of the HBGary emails, it involves creating an army of sockpuppets, with sophisticated "persona management" software that allows a small team of only a few people to appear to be many, while keeping the personas from accidentally cross-contaminating each other. Then, to top it off, the team can actually automate some functions so one persona can appear to be an entire Brooks Brothers riot online... And all of this is for the purposes of infiltration, data mining, and (here's the one that really worries me) ganging up on bloggers, commenters and otherwise "real" people to smear enemies and distort the truth... "
and
"They are talking about creating the illusion of consensus. And consensus is a powerful persuader... And another thing, this is just one little company of assholes. I can't believe there aren't others doing this already. From oil companies, political campaigns, PR firms, you name it. Public opinion means big bucks. And let's face it, what these guys are talking about is easy."
and
"To the extent that the propaganda technique known as "Bandwagon" is an effective form of persuasion, which it definitely is, the ability for a few people to infiltrate a blog or social media site and appear to be many people, all taking one position in a debate, all agreeing, for example, that so and so is not credible, or a crook, is an incredibly powerful weapon."

An HBGary email that should concern all
This really bothered me, don't know about the rest of you:
---
* I'd suggest reading the whole article in the link I put up above & not only because of the quotes I pulled from it to get your attention here, but also because it largely BACKS THE FACT THAT EVEN PSEUDONYMS DON'T MATTER, because they're easy to create via alternate email accounts, TOR endpoint proxies usage, OR anonymous proxy server usage on the part of those seeking to be "many from 1"!
(Yes, I'd read that folks - because it MAY ADVERSELY AFFECT YOU ONE DAY ALSO & be "levelled against you" (I hope not)... & I KNOW I've had it happen to me, here, & others spots online (I busted clone52431/clone53421 & others doing it in fact, the "trolltalk.com" pack of admitted trolls around here in fact & years ago from arstechnica people @ Windows IT Pro -> http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/internals-and-architecture/the-memory-optimization-hoax#feedbackAnchor (Jeremy Reimer mainly))).

Want to be a friend? Do this
Write Dr. Mark Russinovich, tell him to write a boot sector protecting filtering device driver (vs. rootkit/botnets like the "indestructable one" I have shown how to kill)...
* Tell him to call it "APKBootSectorProtector.sys"...
He knows who I am per ->
AND, because We used to work for the same company in the mid 1990's to 2000 or so... & I've corrected his work before too (he's good, heck great - but NOT "infallible" (none of us are)).
APK
P.S.=> Tell him I said "Hi there, & pagedefrag.exe also needs to remove a hardcode from registry eventlogs files movements possible"
Shown e.g. here:
---
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Application
(And in the FILE entries you can add there... or are there by default! Mind you, that is only 1 possible there... there are others!)
---
Anyhow/anyways:
"The GOOD DOCTOR", Mr. Mark Russinovich of MS?
Hey - He's the "filtering drivers master"... & he works for the company concerned (Microsoft)!
Imo @ least?
Well, he's "the man" for the job in fact, imo @ least... on a guess?
He could write it up in under an hour, fully tested too (filtering drivers are NOT THAT TOUGH TO DO, & are like what the "indestructable botnet/rootkit" (lol, NOT) use in fact)!
This type of Ring 0/RPL 0/kernel mode protectant would "counteract" another "vector of infestation" by rootkits in general in fact... those that use drivers & bootsectors!
Some "Food 4 Thought" for you all...

Mark Russinovich HAS innovative skill
His toolsets show it in a way: Especially Process Explorer (yes, it's "merely a better taskmanager" but in a LOT of ways).
I agree - It's not a really question of his tech skills, but as you said, his mgt. skills & dealing with people "doing deals" (which anyone can learn, give time). Then, comes the leadership abilities. This one, imo @ least, your either BORN with it, or, you will never, ever really have it. I'd say he has them probably, just by his leading the way in his toolsets and what they do... but leading people IS the question & a whole diff. ballgame.
See - I've personally "had a difference or two" with the guy 2 times over the past 15 yrs., & it wasn't good on either account really!
(Once in a company he & I worked for 1996-2000 on the side contracting to they & later @ Windows IT Pro Magazine where I proved that memory optimization program DO help (e.g.-> Unfreeze halted Exchange Servers)).
He's not infallible though, none of us are.
This field's complex... I mean, hey - they "debugged" electricity within a decade of its use for consumers... we still haven't FULLY managed that in computing, especially software (though it's world's better now than it was say, 15-20 yrs. back).
Still, even though we had a "slight disagreement" once via email regarding sales of programs & how they worked by comparison?
Just before the Windows IT Pro fiasco:
I helped him fix a program of his anyhow in 2003, & he was man enough to thank me for it via email (that said a lot to me actually).
I did so, because the program was unique @ the time (probably still is) & useful, in pagedefrag.exe...
(I.E.-> He made some "rookie" mistakes in it, which surprised me actually considering how you said "he knows windows inside & out"... but, he did so, in a very "rookie level" hardcode of the registry location for the pagefile.sys (which can be moved to faster disks))
I *think* he may still have a hardcode for eventlogs too in it, I wrote him on that back in 2003, but I am NOT SURE HE CORRECTED FOR IT!
(Yes, you CAN MOVE THOSE too to a less used or more space-free disk as well via the LOG entries underneathe each log in Windows here, e.g.-> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Application & the FILE entry there & same with like eventlogs there too)).
I guess what I'm trying to say here, is this: Mark R.'s really good, no doubt about it, but... he's not infallible & I've proven that much myself!
(Again - though, none of us are).
Personally, I think he likes doing his job and that's enough (well, until they show him say, a "blank check" & said "fill this in for your yearly salary" etc. that is, lol!)
APK
P.S.=> I also do know that he & a gent named Bryce Cogswell ran SysInternals, basically a 2 man company really, but he's already BEEN there/DONE that in essence, albeit on a smaller scale... but, they did WELL at it.
I also know that guys of that nature (coders) tend to be in the job, because they LIKE the job, being essentially an "electric carpenter" sort of, & for the creativity & seeing your work perform things for yourself & people (I've done it myself, still do, & liked it), & most of them tend to HATE mgt. roles unless the pay "steps up" to match the extra duties.
Yes - I've also been on the mgt. side of the fence for large companies, & it's a WHOLE DIFF. BALLGAME, dealing with people + politics...

http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=2253808&threshold=-1&commentsort=0&mode=thread&pid=36521452
Where he alleged you libeled him. You did. You may have thought your sources in Jeremy Reimer (the guy is a battlefront forums troll on arstechnica for God's sake) are credible? Dumb move. See this and what others think of him here from long ago
"Anyway the "APK" registered here is just an affectionate clone of the original. In fact I prefer him to the original." - Jeremy Reimer - March 25, 2005
http://tech.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1300193&cid=28685295
apk posted about it years ago on slashdot also when a discussion came up about all of this.
I was there during the months apk and arstechnica had it out when they stalked him to Windows IT Pro forums and like trolls always do they ganged up on him to the point of doing alternate registered accounts there to do so. I caught that in Reimer's forum (waarheid was also veritas) and I bookmarked it in case they ever did me like that as they tried to on apk.
Reimer even moved hosting providers after that one, or he had it removed due to his death threats, edited pictures of apk, email harassing him and more and his OSY pegasus site had that quote on it. It is still at the Windows IT Pro magazine forums link apk put up in response to your libel. I was there during that debate. I thought apk was going down to Mark Russinovich's article points and others rallying against him. He floored the lot of them in the end
I also see your words I quote are not matching the story his post tells where you failed badly against him and in that link above at Windows IT Pro magazine forums.
Talk about being all talk. Your anecdotal tales are fables. You threaten him with blackmail threats meant to harm his career here too
http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=2261720&cid=36545928
And now this thinly veiled threat which shows you are growing desperate trying to dig for information to attempt to discredit apk again above is signs of that desperation.
Grow up. Take it like a man. Sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose some. I haven't seen apk lose here yet in technical debates and he certainly got the best of you in those 7 links he pointed to, or versus other obviously jealous trolls that stalk and harass him here. I am sure that one day, that day will come for him losing also eventually I am sure because we all lose one now and then, so accept you did this time, and rather badly with no class (blackmail and threats). Now go sit in the corner erroneus and take your meds instead of making threats and being made out as a fool by your own stupidity. Please.

Please - DO ask him if I blew away he & his pals @ Windows IT Pro forums on memory compacting techniques benefits:
AND HE AGREED WITH ME ON A GOOD 95%++ or MORE OF MY POINTS LISTED THERE!
(That's Where even a former co-worker of mine, Dr. Mark Russinovich (while we worked for Sunbelt Software in the mid to late 90's) even had to shut up vs. my points... especially on exchange server being unhalted by memory opitimizations!
They HAD to - simply because My points were backed by information from Microsoft no less is why (where he works now)... Before that?
I even helped him correct a flaw hardcode in Dr. Russinovich's work, in pagedefrag.exe, which he thanked me for in email no less, & told him how/why/when/where it failed... NtAPI native api usage & all!

Jeremy Reimer was contacted also by his ISP/BSP & put onto a "tracking ticket" for email harassing me as well, and for making childish wav files and photos of myself in "effete retaliation"... along with Jay Little.

tomhudson further debunked #4
Jeremy Reimer of arstechnica was caught libeling, email harassing, online stalking and impersonating the person you yourself have been shown to ac reply stalk and harass tomhudson http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1646272&cid=32150544 by your own words quoted stating you do so and telling others they ought to also. Dumb move.
I read about all of this over at Windows IT Pro forums years ago, here http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/internals-and-architecture/the-memory-optimization-hoax#feedbackAnchor
Where not only did the arstechnica bunch have themselves put in their places by law enforcement (det. Felton of B.C. Canada where Jeremy Reimer lives), but also by their own hosting providers and isp's as well.
(CrystalTech removed Jay Little's entire website and so did petitiononline where Reimer's buddy Jay Little made DEATH THREATS to this guy, simply because he showed that Exchange Servers that freeze can be unhalted by using a memory optimizer program (documented by Microsoft no less) and Jay Little claimed literally verbatim to be "an Expert on Exchange", some expert, not))
The arstechnica bunch also impersonated the person you stalk and troll here on slashdot by ac replies you admit doing, but, also impersonated a Mr. Martin Meszaros (all shown at Windows IT Pro magazine forums).
Jeremy Reimer of arstechnica had to admit he impersonated apk on his own personal forums also:
"Anyway the "APK" registered here is just an affectionate clone of the original. In fact I prefer him to the original." - Jeremy Reimer - March 25, 2005
So all you are doing is libeling the person you also harass, stalk, and troll anonymously tomhudson. Take your meds and quit your foaming at the mouth. You don't look credible after all the evidences stacked against you here versus your lies and libel of others such as this one the person you stalk put you in your place for:
APK is 44 years old and really does live still with one or both of his parents (or another relative);by tomhudson (43916) on Saturday April 16, @12:59PM (#35840802) Homepage
You were put in your place on that account here and challenged to check public records on that. You stopped putting that libel up about him also after this:
http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=2051634&cid=35658544
If you keep libeling that person here publicly tomhudson you're probably heading for heaps of legal problems assuming you actually have any worth. I don't think you do, because when you were asked to show him a program he could try out, you would not produce one. Surely an experienced coder has such items, but apparently, you do not.
-
STILL trying to "impersonate me"? Please...
Anything on arstechnica? Is a lie, or it was my posts being edited by them, and not only on THEIR forums, but on their members' forums. Case in point:
Jeremy Reimer of arstechnica was caught IMPERSONATING ME on his own forums, and admitted it at Windows IT Pro (and on his forums before he moved them to another hosting provider & started it again)... so, you think arstechnica doesn't pull that kind of crap? See this:
"Anyway the "APK" registered here is just an affectionate clone of the original. In fact I prefer him to the original." - Jeremy Reimer - March 25, 2005
http://tech.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1300193&cid=28685295
and here also (Windows IT Pro magazine forums):
Heck, if you look at the latter one? Reimer even impersonated another person named Martin Meszaros as well. The arstechnica bunch? They have NO problem breaking laws either.
E.G.=> Some of their members (2) even had their websites removed in whole (Jay Little from CrystalTech.com & petitiononline.com) & in part (Jeremy Reimer from Shaw in Canada) for IMPERSONATING MYSELF, email harassing myself, making libellous altered photos of myself, childish songs, DEATH THREATS (this made it serious) & more, which a Det. Felton of B.C. Canada where Reimer lives helped put an end to, finally.
The one that sticks out there, though, is IMPERSONATING ME... which it seems you appear to be trying to do, now, even.
Well, well, judging on past happenings? You must be from ARSTECHNICA then! (the home of the underachiever online...)

"And no, I most definitely am NOT TomHudson" - by Anonymous Coward on Friday April 15, @02:17AM (#35825768)
He's the only one that I know of that trolls me as "anonymous coward" postings as he has been caught in it, red-handed, and telling others to do so, here:
http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1646272&cid=32150544
So, it stands to reason you're just he, doing it yet again here now.

"And you are not Alexander Peter Kowalski." - by Anonymous Coward on Friday April 15, @02:17AM (#35825768)
Uhm, last time I checked (when I woke up this a.m. in fact, lol), I was!

"Maybe you are Yuri Klastalov?" - by Anonymous Coward on Friday April 15, @02:17AM (#35825768)
WoW... there's a name: Afaik? He is part of the RBN (Russian Business Network) & he hated anyone who was helping to secure Windows for users (which I have actively been doing since 1997 online in fact)... which would make some sense, considering that botnet was floored right around the time he put up his Twitter post saying "Alexander Peter Kowalski can suck my sweaty cock" or something along those profane lines...

"You've been using my name for at least 10 years, tho." - by Anonymous Coward on Friday April 15, @02:17AM (#35825768)
No, more like 45++ yrs. (since I came into this world in fact)...

"And putting it on your CRAPWARE!!! BUT YOU ARE NOT ME." - by Anonymous Coward on Friday April 15, @02:17AM (#35825768)
Uhm, 1st of all? The link you used?? Dead. Long dead in fact, as I have not had a website @ pixelstation.com outta Trinidad since the late 1990s... what are you, in a time-machine, lol, or WHAT??

"Don't forget, I know where you live" - by Anonymous Coward on Friday April 15, @02:17AM (#35825768)
Then, "bring it on", but TO MY FACE then... heck, you'd never even make it to

Re:Why?
They should rather concentrate on improving the core OS in my opinion. Why would I want to manipulate images or read PDFs with crap software from MS...
My answer would be "who cares, until we actually see the finished or near finished product?"
Keep in mind Thurrott and Co have proven time and again that they are in all probability, simply paid Microsoft shills. No, this isn't trolling. Simply dig up their old articles on other pre-release OS versions from Microsoft, where the shit is so deep that you'd need a bulldozer to wade through it.
Start here and work yourself backwards. That particular "article" is actually pretty "decent" - other than downplaying the fact that there were so many bugs in Vista that it should have been delayed - but Microsoft decided to release it anyway. Surely not a good thing - but that's not the way the article is written.

Proof of Reimer's LIES here (Windows IT Pro)
Jeremy Reimer's bullshit above is shot down in flames easily just by reading that exchange & seeing how Reimer IMPERSONATED ME on his own forums, then after being asked nicely to remove it, stalked me along with his friends Jay Little & Jarrett DeAngelis/starkruzr to Windows IT Pro forums (as well as NTCompatible.com in Jay Little stalking me there also & being shot down in flames on Ramdisk usage + IRQL_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO regarding device drivers interfaces to hardware & more)...
APK
P.S.=> So much for Jeremy Reimer, the self-published "LULU LUuuuuZer", who not only impersonated MYSELF, but also tried to impersonate a Mr. Martin Meszaros, whom I tracked down & had him RIP REIMER A NEW ONE FOR IT, publicly...
Jeremy Reimer - You're doing yourself in each time you try to troll me with your lies & libel Reimer, but there's no escaping the facts on that page above from Windows IT Pro forums where you and your arstechnica pals tried to stalk & troll me + libel me (and make death threats my way only to have your websites removed by authorities for it)... AND, that you live off of your wife (a stripper, dirt), because you can't hold a decent job (not enough to afford kids apparently, or perhaps its because you need a dose of viagra to do the job of making them (or perhaps a "splint" of some type)? LOL!)... apk

Re:$39 BILLION!?
I must have read a severely flawed article that said they were paying 25 million in cash, then.

Re:Milking it
No, the problem is requiring them to put everything on the Apple Store in the first place.
What happens if Amazon or B&N doesn't yield? Somehow the Kindle or Nook app gets "rescinded", and stops working when next their iphone or ipad updates. And then the other booksellers have to explain to their customers why all of a sudden, paid-for books can no longer be viewed on the device.
This is monopolistic practices: the next step is Apple announcing how they have "the largest selection of books" in the Apple Store, because they've forcibly extorted Amazon, Barnes&Noble, and every other ebook purveyor to put their books in the Apple Store or be cut off from the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad market entirely.
I wonder what happened to the monopoly abuse lawsuit over iPhone only being on AT&T anyways...

Re:End of Azure
Have you seen some of billg's leaked mails on Windows? He ripped XP to shreds. He was at the helm, and didn't like what they were doing. You think he was any happier with Vista?
http://gizmodo.com/5019516/classic-clips-bill-gates-chews-out-microsoft-over-xp
He was the head of the company, not the guy who makes every decision. He disagreed with a lot of decisions. He should have replaced more people with any organism that could muster a coherent thought that persisted long enough to compare with the next thought. That was his failure.
Ballmer eats donkey cock all day and shits out specs which are automatically turned into the next GUI design and API. Bill was no saint, but I don't think you realize how little low-level control he had in the last few years. He bitched about things being wrong, sure. But in 2003/4 he was *told* that Vista was shite and would have to be rebooted. He gave in, and Jim Allchin retired out of shame I would assume. Ballmer was busy purchasing used donkeys from seedy mexican bars.

Re:Give ARM a chance.
64bit architecture is 20 years old on the desktop but right now nobody is using it anyway.
Ignorance is no excuse for making such blatantly false statements when the reality, as of June 2010, we see that 46 percent of all PCs worldwide running Windows 7 are running a 64-bit edition of Windows 7, is just a google search away.

Re:Spyglass got pwned!
They kissed and made up in the end (at least Spyglass got $8 million), according to this article.
