Arrest?
Why hasn't this CEO already been arrested like this guy?
-
What. The. Fuck.
Another job creator falls victim to Great Leader Obama's socialist paradise.
Guess the poor guy didn't know about having to send his bribes in to stay in the Great Leader's good graces.

HereI really love that last one, because people KNOW It's a glitch; they KNOW they don't have unlimited EBT funds, but yet they will still claim that they weren't abusing the system. Bollocks.
As for the statistics, I definitely spoke too broadly, but my views are still consistent because I have seen first hand accounts of this type of activity. I can't find any interweb pagez to support my claim currently, but I still stand firm that the amount of low-income subsidiary services are abused and we need to keep closing loopholes.

Re:Not the only state with this law
It would not. The compartment is not being used for drugs. That seems to be what everyone is glazing over.
TFA quoted, but did not link to, an article by WKYC which mentions that the police detected a strong odor of marijuana, which led them to the closer investigation revealing the secret compartment. Still, this seems like a case worthy of appeal. I am suspicious of laws based on intent, as intent is hard to prove.

Out of sight, out of mind
The problem is, each turbine requires regular maintenance during its 20-year lifespan, with a requirement of one turbine technician for every 10 turbines on the ground.
This is the dirty little secret of the wind industry everyone seems to ignore when talking about it as an energy source with little to no down sides. More people have been killed in the U.S. maintaining wind turbines (or climbing improperly secured maintenance ladders) than in its entire history of nuclear power generation. This despite nuclear providing about 20% of our electricity while wind was below 1% for most of that time (it's up to 2.3% in 2010). If we extrapolated wind's fatality rate to the 45% of U.S. electricity provided by coal (1847 of 4125 TWh in 2010), it would work out to over 250 wind-related deaths per year.
Currently, wind is the second-best renewable energy source (after hydro), with cost per kWh within striking distance of that of coal and nuclear (less than twice the cost). But its proponents have got to stop advocating it with rose-colored glasses, and start addressing some of its real problems. This is the reason marketers make terrible engineers - they prefer to ignore and gloss over the problems rather than fix them. Right now, wind is doing what fossil fuels do - reducing their operating costs by offloading risk and damage onto others (mainly their workers). They need to pay these turbine maintenance guys better for the higher risk, provide more robust safety training, and develop and install more safety systems. -
Re:And who's gonna pay for that?
Teachers can legally have sex with their 16 year old students. Wow, in the US you'd get 20 years for that.
Teachers may be able to legally have sex with their 16 year old students in some states, but as we learned recently here in Ohio, there is apparently a law on the books that says teachers can't have sex with their students, ever.

Re:Just do it!
It varies entirely by station.
I have some local stations broadcasting at full power on antennas and frequencies they intend to stay on. Others not.
Here's one (local channel 3) broadcasting currently digitally on 2, which, as soon as they get new equipment installed, are planning on moving to a UHF frequency for better reception by folks...

Re:Who cares? They're cheap.
"Do you have a cite for that? I'm not trying to nitpick, I'm honestly curious."
I googled on "high definition penetration" and got some results that were so not what I was looking for, but when I refined my search I found this page, which cites a CEA statement from April that penetration is at 28%. The CEA is a trade group (think CEA::electronics industry as RIAA::record industry as AMA::medical industry) which runs CES, so apply whatever grains of salt you deem worthy.
My educated guess is that they include 720p sets in that figure (720p sets are regularly sold with "HDTV" labelling). In the case of a 720p set, I believe that a standard-def DVD player with an HDMI cable will provide the same output quality as a hi-def player.

Re:What a Power Trip!
What if the cop takes your camera?
In my hometown, a cop got his car stuck in the mud. Someone took a picture of it, thinking it was funny.
The cop radios his friend, who pulls over the picture taker, and takes the camera...
From the below linked article: "The victim John Bell says Officer Devore threatened him. The lawsuit claims the officer said he'll "give Bell until the count of three to hand over the camera or he'll make his life "a living hell." "

Re:Bad cops
You can't be asked "have you ever been arrested". Prospective employers can only ask "have you been convicted of a felony charge within the last 7 years", for exactly this reason... it certainly doesn't do much if you live in a place where everyone knows what happened (or say it was broadcast on the news, like the library masturbator...), but still.

Real life Optimus PrimeHere is a guy who legally changed his name to Optimus Prime a couple years back. His military buddies kicked his butt a little bit over this. From the article
"They razzed me for three months to no end," said Prime. "They really dug into me about it."
-
Re:Optimus, we hardly knew ye....Just think about how bad the real Optimus Prime must feel now. You can also find this guy on Wikipedia now too. From the link:
He legally changed his name on his 30th birthday and now it's on everything from his driver's license, to his military ID, to his uniform. "They razzed me for three months to no end," said Prime. "They really dug into me about it."
This guy has got balls. Plus think about how futile his enemies must feel knowing they are about to take on one tough truck!

Wicucucucucucucu....
How could they possibly forget The Transformers??! They should immediately throw out the entire list and populate it with the likes of Optimus Prime (now you don't get many people changing their names to R2D2 now, do you?), Bumblebee and Megatron! (The title is a badly formed attempt at making the noise when they transform)
However, they have to leave just one gap for No-No from Ulysses 31. And that other robot that was at the end of Battle of the Planets (the UK version). -
br4d isn't geeky enough...
check out Optimus Prime!

Iraq's in trouble nowAccording to this article, Optimus Prime is fighting for the United States now.
No word on Megatron's whereabouts.
