Re:Just leave general chat
I play on an RP server, because talking crap is a bannable offense there.
I installed SpamSentry yesterday because of the spam:

Works like a charm. -
Eerie coincidence? I think not.In World of Warcraft there is something very similar.
http://www.worldofwar.net/cartography/worldmap/ (Large map graphic if you want to see what I'm talking about.)
In between the continents is a large vortex called The Maelstrom. I call it the Swirling Vortex of Death and feign terror whenever my ship sails dangerously close to it while traveling between continents.
So what does this prove?
Absolutely nothing unless you take into account that Blizzard has 6.5 million people brainwashed (probably 6.6 million today), it's 6/6/06 and like others, I think Cthulu and his reign of chaos may not be far behind. It just struck me as one of those strange coincidences.

Re:Don't they ban for that???
I believe that the reason people were getting banned on the current game world is because the game was not designed with a free z-axis movement in mind. The art design of the environments use several tricks to reduce load times and give the player that "loadless" world. The new expansion world was designed with z-axis movement in mind, which is why they are able to do this and players should not have any fear of being banned for exploring. From what I understand, there will not be as many "off-limits" areas in the Outlands as there were on Azeroth. Watch the video here that explains it all.

Re:Bullcrap.
Landover baptist is a parody site. This isn't. This thread discusses a Christian guild (The Forgiven). Here's another (Pillar of Autumn), and here's a whole slashdot thread about Christian recruiting on WoW, such as the God's Peons guild.

Re:good time to make "predictions"There are going to be 'FLYING FREAKING MOUNTS' for use in the Outlands. That's straight from the leaked Italian preview that was floating around the web last week. Check out World of War, probably the third or fourth news article down is the translated story from that mag.
It fits with what I've seen of the Outland so far, what they've built in the game.
Yes, the Outlands do exist in the game files, presently. They are located south-southwest of the eastern continent.

WorldOfWar.net was in the same seat
Worldofwar.net let it's forum goers do the exact same thing as CmdrTaco did with Slashdot. It was even promoted it as a "developer interview"!
The responses brought back? A bunch of saggy PR responses that contained nothing out of any value at all. Basically worth nobody's time if you were already up to date with the WoW community happenings. I don't even think the developers even read the questions. Even many of the most devoted Blizzard-fans were displeased, as voiced on their forum.
If Blizzard's going to continue to do these things as an effort of trying to garner publicity and please their audience, at least treat the people with dignity. Because, as we're seeing now, it's biting back -- and this is completely justified. The honesty of the Slashdot community, especially CmdrTaco, amazes me. There's plenty of websites who would find that they even responded sufficient enough to be pleased with their PR-tunneled answers. -

Re:Dueling & Guild Invites
If you are willing to use mods, then AutoDecline should do the trick.

Re:I found a few spots
There are two small Islands off of Tananis to the south east. If you have 4 people (horde), you can get to the island, and then bring as many people as you want.
3 people, (one warlock, 2 other), need to get mounted on the coast of Tanaris at LandsEnd Beach, close to the Islands, see http://www.worldofwar.net/cartography/worldmap/kal imdorcont.php
Have a Shaman cast Water Walking on you. If you stay mounted, it effect your mount, but the spell will break if you get off your mount. Head toward the islands being carefull not to take damage, which will also break the spell. The shaman gets left behind as they can't cast water walking on themselves while mounted.
You should be able to see the islands in the distance, head slightly east of them, as there is an area of the higher ocean floor that prevents fatigue that juts out further, a little east of the direct course.
As soon as the fatigue bar appears, head directly toward the islands.
You can make it there on a normal mount just as the fatigue bar is running out. It should be no problem with any speed enhancments such as carrot on a stick or with an epic mount.
The center of the northern island has the message in a bottle.
Use the warlock to summon the shaman who cast water walking on all of you. Also summon any guild mates :)
Mal'Ganis has a bunch of dead lvl 1 corpses on the island from my guild. -
Flying fish do exist!
Well... in World of Warcraft they do exist according to this screen capture. [grin]

Every single patch day the site goes 'boink'

Re:WoW is excellent
I couldn't get past the shitty graphics long enough to enjoy WoW. It looks like something older than the Quake 2 engine is putting out those frames on your old machine, and gameplay consists of endlessly running about. And getting clobbered by lag-cheaters. It actually runs "decently" on my friend's old PII-266, but the graphics are so crude it's difficult to watch for long.
Gamespot is out to lunch on this one.
