I think you missed the point of my comment. If mark-t had said something akin to, "it's dumb to apply visualistic realism in a superhero movie because any deviation of reality and our unconscious expectations are understood by the audience through the plot and characters", I would have no problem. I think there is an interesting conversation to be had about "mental disconnect between the visual of a woman physically dominating men". I don't know why it is there but I have rolled my eyes a number of times watching something where it becomes overly obvious. Barbie fighting Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't something I find visually appealing. It's can be too jarring when the extremes are juxtaposed together. The plot can explain it but I will still roll my eyes. Why? I don't know. But thinking that it could be because of a generality in reality is not misogynistic.

For example, I enjoyed that in the Expanse Roberta Bobbie W. Draper a Martian Marine Gunnery Sergeant had some meat on her bones and she wasn't a stick with tits. It could have been explained by technology or some other plot device, like any comic book movie, but I was still pleasantly surprised and found my self enjoying her character more when her figure wasn't so contradictory to the situation. I would have still enjoyed the show had she been shown as a stick but a lot of small things make a good movie great.

I read your link. That was a pretext, nothing more, and bombing Iraq again was simply a continuation of prior U.S. foreign policy on Iraq. I am often resistant to video citations, but I really cannot recommend highly enough that you take the time to watch the above video. It seems long, but it is actually jam-packed with relevant information, provided in a straightforward fashion. It specifically names the individuals responsible on both sides of the aisle, and does not pull punches.

Watch the video, was it obvious to you? Because it wasn't obvious to this trained officer. (Spoiler - she's fine, she unloads an entire magazine into the guy and he's - happily - quite dead.)

I think by the news media playing up incidents like this, it wrongfully portrays cops as constantly looking for violent confrontations. I think it's extremely easy to backseat quarterback these sorts of circumstances from the comfort of your easy-chair at home. Finally, in re the OP it's either a STAGGERING coincidence that someone whose entire gig is fighting license plate readers happens to be pulled over by cops using a license plate reader in the most anti-cop, anti-establishment city in the US' or it's something more suspicious.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I think about how much devastation follows this unnecessary use of fossil fuels. We could make 100% of our transportation fuel needs from algae grown on seawater by allocating a relatively small portion of desert.

We could also make all of our transportation fuel by hydrocarbon synthesis driven by nuclear fission. This is not new technology. We figured out how to get economically viable energy from fission in the 1950s. We figured out how to synthesize hydrocarbons suitable for use as aircraft fuel since the 1930s. There's been a lot of effort in combining the two by the US Navy but our congresscritters seem more interested in burning money on more failures in solar power projects and electric airplanes.

Tell me something, what kind of weather or climate event would there have to be to disprove the theory of human caused global warming from burning fossil fuels? If record heat in Arizona proves global warming, and increased snow in Arizona proves global warming, then what would disprove it?

The climate changes, and I can't seem to find anyone to dispute that. If you want me to believe your theory then first I need to see the theory explained in a way that is falsifiable. Then I'd further need to see solutions based on real science and current technology. If you want me to believe that we can grow our fuel in algae ponds in the (snowy) deserts of Arizona then prove the technology as viable. We've proven nuclear fission as viable. We know we can synthesize hydrocarbons, the Nazis flew their fighters off such fuel at the end of WWII. Maybe the economics right now estimates the fuel cost in the $4 to $6 per gallon range for synthesized hydrocarbons, but that's far better than the failed algae fuel experiments so far.

This works. It works now. To make it to market needs only Congress allowing the building of more nuclear power and funding more research in the Navy. In a matter of a few years the Navy will not be adding any carbon into the natural carbon cycle. A few years later the Air Force and Army can join in. In no time this could come to market with no need for new charging stations in parking lots or disposing of the existing vehicles and infrastructure. Every diesel engine in existence becomes zero carbon overnight.

Will algae do that? Perhaps. I know what is holding up synthetic fuels. It is the Democrat "Green New Deal" that denies us access to nuclear power. What's holding up algae fuels? I know what that is too. The laws of physics and economics. We can change the laws of the land, we cannot change the laws of physics and economics.

Killing people is almost never a military objective. It is a consequence of enemy forces trying to prevent you from achieving you military objective.

You are trying to justify your view of war with having an unprecidented war machine still assembled and the people that live inside that machine. You have decided it is 'ok' and are trying to make it 'alright in your brain'. Which is fine. But do not lie to yourself what the armed forces do. They splatter people. It is their job. We give them multi million dollar machines to do it with.

If high functioning autism was that good it would be much more widespread in human populations, but what we see in reality, they're minority and the outcomes are more adverse in average. ASD/ADHD might predispose the person to certain professions (since they lack in many other areas) but the widespread mantra of disabled peoples' high predisposition to unusual talents or even genius is somewhat exaggerated and quite dangerous. Most disabled people are just disabled people, no more, period.
