Arnold Schwarzenegger Will Be Back As the Terminator

All kidding aside, he's pretty aged, I can't really see him faithfully doing the Terminator as he was back in the 80's and 90's. I mean yeah, make-up and CG and all, but even then.
We've already had four terminator movies with the last decent one being the 2nd movie. The third was just an excuse to get a female terminator with big boobs killing people, the 4th movie was horrendous, and for crying out loud the tv show Sarah Connor chronicles was better then the movies in some aspects. I mean whats the story going to be this time, they make new T-800's that look like senior citizens to invade the care home where John Connor is in and kill him with false terminator teeth?
The T1065 where he reprises his role as a stout old geezer infiltration unit with a European accent polished smooth by years of hanging in Hollywood.

My film-loving internal child still laments his passing on the "Crown of Iron" Conan script. Would have been directed by Millius, the genius behind the original film. Still one of my favorite movies of all time.

John Connor discovers that the T-800 series was not originally developed as a war machine at all. In fact, early developments in cybernetics were intended to help an increasingly elderly population cope with geriatric diseases. (In fact, the T in T-800 refers to a testosterone pump implanted directly into the body, the first major modification to be attempted.) One such man, an actor with influential connections in government, was able to steadily have body parts replaced as he aged, attempting to prevent the inevitable degradation of his once Mr. Universe quality body. Later iterations of the T-800 would be based upon this man, who developed the models in an attempt to develop eternally vigilant guards to prevent incursions on his lawn by neighborhood children.

I'm one of the few who actually likes Terminator 3 and somehow, god knows how he was for the most part - pretty damn convincing in the movie. He really didn't appear old in the movie, definitely pulled it off but T3 itself was a decade ago. I saw him in Expendables 2 and,... I mean yeah it was fun and stupid but he was starting to really really look his age. Even his line delivery seemed off.
Made him an icon? I'm still waiting on "Hercules in New York II," dubbing and all.
I for one more than welcome the Governator T1, T2 and T3 were great sci-fi, wonderful time travel paradox films and fantastic examples of the genre. The first 3 films were solid story telling with a solid and consistent POV. Brilliant. Not great, but brilliant. Each movie was a solid 7.5 to 8 out of 10 compared to movies like Fast & Furious or Abrams' Star Trek. T5 is something I would see opening weekend just like i did with the dismal failure of T4 which despite it's name and hype was not a terminator movie and was literally nothing more than "a day in the life of" movie. T4 did not create nor solve a time travel paradox though it had many opportunities - mr big man nolan missed the point completely. I welcome T5 and another opportunity to mark judgment day on my calendar.
If he commits to getting back in shape big time, in the same way that Stalone has, he could have another 10 years of action films before he has to actually branch out into parts that fit his age. Yes, it would probably require steroids. No, I don't care.
Unfortunately, they'll probably just use him to draw crowds and either give him glorified cameo's or simply make him look younger with digital effects, neither of which would be a good thing.

If I were him I'd sign with Fox to do McBain movies. A parody of himself played by himself. I think it could be hilarious, especially given his age. Sort of the "I-won't-ever-retire" cop that's only a shadow of his former glory.

The only way this would work is as a face-capture-CGI role. He just couldn't pull it off physically. Sorry, but he's just too old and out of shape. Even if you have him bulked up under clothing, his face is too aged to believably do the role.
If I remember right, they were wanting to do a second trio of movies. So with 4 done, we're looking at a possible 5 and 6. I'd like to think that 6 would be the final, with one side or the other finally winning. As for 5, why not go way back in time? Try to knock off Sarah Connor when she's a kid or something.
The US is backing ALL the sides, in the hope that they will just kill each other off.
They should pick someone who looks younger, like Mr. Burns.
Act 1:
In Eastern Europe, a handful of partisans still fight SkyNet and an army of robots. It's a desperate fight and the landscape is filled with the wreckage of a former age. One group is led by Ahnuld. He's crafty and careful having lived through the worst of times. His crew look up to him as a father and would follow him into hell.
Called before the supreme council, it's Eastern Europe remember, one member of his crew is denounced. It's all a ruse to get him and his group to sign up for a high-risk, end the war in Europe mission. He agrees but not before telling everyone of them 'I'll be back'.
Act 2:
Getting there is the hardest part. Sneaking through wrecked cities and desolate wastelands, half empty aquifers and collapsed rail tunnels, fighting and dying heroically to preserve the mission and each other, the rag tag group makes its way to... CERN. The idyllic countryside has been devastated. In its place are ruined behemoths and the rusted hulks of war machines. But SkyNet lives here, at least the part aware of the European theatre and they are there to destroy it.
Act 3:
Is where it really gets good. Also, there's a twist ending. Really, this movie could win awards. That's how good the ending is. Even your Mom is going to like it. I'd tell you, but it would ruin it for you. I'm doing you a favor.
He has to pay off Maria, so he's willing to take on any role that will bring a paycheck. They should have stopped after T2.
Oh well, if there's a buck to be made Hollywood will squeeze it out somehow.

Three was good, not OK. I'd give it a 6.5/10. Probably a whole 1/2 point for the way they tied the whole franchise together. But, I thought the sexbot thing was overdone.
Four was a great look at the SkyNet future; maybe 7/10. I suspect that Bale-fatigue has more to do w/ it's low rating than the film itself. Much in the same way the *excellent* Tom Cruise flick Minority Report suffered from the haters.
I just think it's odd that people would say either of those films suck since by no standard would I give either film anything less than 3/10. But, in the world of hyperbolic criticisms, I guess "suck" is the equivalent of "wasn't an 8/ or 10/10 in my book".

He might have aged but he;'s done it well. Makeup can easily make him look just as old as he was in t2.
I'm confident that they COULD do a proper salute to Terminator 2 by not making the fifth movie completely crap.
He did an amazing job in other movies, Total Recall as an example. He plays his role well, as long as they get a director that knows how to make
the most of him. James Cameron should direct it. It should be a continued story from Terminator 2, ignoring some of the plot devices in the 3rd and 4th one.
Like the giant human like robot? Really? Logic would dictate that a design like that would be ineffective at killing comparitively to the resources spent on construction.
Give us more of the dark apocalyptic future we saw in Terminator 2. It had the perfect atmosphere, that's what we want to see.
Give us the survival, the moving at night only to reduce detection, run down, living in tunnels metro 2033 styled movie.
Do NOT give us the fighting a giant humanoid robot during daylight.
During the day, thermal imaging would be less effective but visual optics would easily identify movement.
At night, yes, thermal technically would operate better due to higher contrasts in temperatures, but there's ways to mess with that, and
blasting infrared light everywhere to see your targets gives away the location of the machine, so that's what I think we expect as viewers, mostly night time, living in tunnels survivalists fighting the machines, just like we saw in terminator 2.

I actually liked Terminator 3 and Salvation. And I'm a pretty critical guy when it comes to modern movies.
Yeah, Terminator 3 was a little tongue-in-cheek at the beginning, and its tone was definitely a LOT more fatalistic than even the first one. And Salvation was a little more action-oriented than it probably needed to be. But I thought they both had pretty strong stories and good acting.
I especially liked Salvation because it finally got us away from the "time traveling soldiers/terminators come back to fight it out in 1984, 1991, 2003, blah, blah, blah" setup that was getting pretty stale. They eventually *had* to go into the future and tell the story of John Connor and how he actually overthrew the machines and beat Skynet. You can't just set the big story up forever and not have some kind of payoff.

I'd like to see this set as a prequel, an aging Arnold is the template for the Terminators but realizes too late that Skynet is taking control.
There was the skynet factory with young versions of the terminator.
What was so bad about Salvation?
The whole discussion with skynet via glassy viewscreen was a bit lame, but most of the movie was decent.
