Actually, it's not the nose which makes the decision of a scent being good or bad, it's your brain/consciousness. The nose merely does exactly what a dog's nose does: Collect the information of the particles and such and send that information to the brain to be processed accordingly. It's at that point that one imputes good/bad onto that scent.
Not to be rude, but funny how you talk about 'avoiding high-risk sex' but don't say that condoms are part of how that is done...merely focus on the abstinence.
Teen pregnancy is one of the consequences of this lack of mention. Granted if you read slashdot you likely know what that means, but it makes me wonder about the whole sex education system as a whole. "Don't have sex! But if you do, don't do high risk sex and be safe" Be safe how? With what? Would a 10 year old really know what that means? Even in today's society?
This is kinda annoying: The minimum plan for the iPhone is cheaper than my plan with Sprint, with unlimited internet and 500 minutes (and two phones, even with just one phone it'd be cheaper.) Except 200 texts is crap, but AT&T has an unlimited text for 5 bucks I think, so even then it's cheaper.
So really, it seems the main costs at issue are the 1 time phone purchase, and any sort of contract or security deposits
We're obviously so good at it right now. There wouldn't be global warming if we could plan ahead well. What does that really mean anyway? We can't see the future and our estimates and whatnot are constantly changing. The best thing to do would be to try to prevent it getting worse since we know how we're screwing it up.
Wouldn't Tux be the internet fire prevention mascot? But add some sort of, "Or I'll fill your inbox with spam!" threat at the end since he's not exactly physically intimidating.
not to mention, everyone seems to have their own book. Which one is right?
I never get this sort of a belief especially when it comes to religion. Who's to say that only one particular religion is right in every way 100% of the time? Why can't it be that each religion has elements of truth to it, as well as elements of human bullshit added in that it's up to you and your mind and feelings to judge as being true and pragmatic and go with that?
That's one thing that's nice about Hinduism, God (specifically Vishnu) can incarnate in any form as necessary, and does so in such a way to be most beneficial and understandable to those particular people. That's why when the Christians came along they're like, "Yeah sure, Jesus. That works. Hey, Krishna's pretty sweet too though!" and went on with their lives.
It's this whole Platonic Rationalism false dilemma bullshit that pisses me off and that causes the religious wars in the world. The assumption of "Either I'm right xor you're wrong." Is a load of crap (for religion) Who really gives a shit what you believe in? Just so long as you don't trample on others (who are unwilling at least) for it, do whatever the hell you want.
And note: I fully and freely apply this to the Science vs. Religion thing. Who said it's one or the other? It's possible to mix the two. And I don't want to hear about "relativism's bad" cause I clearly said only for religion, once you talk about most other ethics (e.g. murder) and stuff it's different.
What I find interesting is the similarities between the cycle end thing and the Hindu cycles. Right now we're considered as being in a Kali Yuga, one in which the Goddess of Death reigns and everything goes to hell (basically, and hell as figure of speech not literal in the Christian sense obviously.) Each Yuga lasts about 12,000 years (in some accounts and if I remember correctly) and there's no reason 12/21/2012 couldn't be the end of this 12,000ish year cycle, especially since it has 2 12s and 21 (which one can look at as an inverted 12 almost, but that seems like pushing it too far.) So if we go with the misunderstanding of this being the end of the world in the Mayan Calendar, and look at the Hindu calendar as support, we're screwed.
And in Kabbalistic Numerology (at least according to The Kabbalah Centre International) 2 is a negative number, because 1 represents unity but 2 begins the separation from everyone. 0 is the seed so is a positive number because since it's limitless it holds everything. So if you take each number individually, there's four 2's, three 1's and one 0 making a 4:4 negative:positive ratio, which could represent (at least to me) that there would be more an even fight between the two energies. 12/22/2012 would be more negative under this analysis, 12/23/2012 would be back to the even ratio. I can't remember about 4-5, but 6 is positive so 12/26/2012 would be 4:4. I think it would only change significantly and for a longer period on the 30th when it becomes more positive (12/30/2012 is 3:5 neg:pos)
Also, in Kabbalistic Numerology, 13.0.0.0.0 would be positive. I already mentioned what 0 is, but I think 13 is positive (could be wrong) But it's moot, cause it'd be 4:1 or 5:0 pos:neg or even 5:1 if you break up the number 13.
If it orbits a planet, it's a moon, regardless of other characteristics. So the individual pieces of the rings of Saturn, Uranus' planetary ring (commence jokes now), Jupiter's planetary rings, are moons now?
Did you notice that even the "coolest youngsters" do not dare to have something like the '85 Usenix "Sex, Drugs and Unix" Badge ? The 80s was the Cocaine decade, and the nerds hadn't let lost real life sex.
20 years later, the proliferation of porn and World of Warcraft takes place of sex and cocaine (respectively.) The "coolest youngsters" wear a "Pr0n, WoW and *nix" Badge.
Right on! And this is why I always say, "There's a reason Europe wanted to be rid of the Puritans"
But a larger, universal truth: "When you point the finger, there are three pointing back at you." So before you start saying "Oh, the Catholics are bad, look at what they've done through history!" or "Bad Protestants! They killed people too!" or "Muslims, they're all terrorists." Look at the actions of your group and what is said about you first, and remember the feeling it creates when you say that.
*cue 'The More you Know' music and shooting star with a disclaimer, "Brought to you by your non-denominational spiritual-but-not-religious/.er"*
Instead of nay-saying you can try to create support and support it yourself. If everyone says that, but hopes it works, then it'll fail and they can claim "Told ya so, glad I didn't waste time." But really, it only failed because they didn't do anything but say it'd fail and hope it would work.
There's actually a fairly big trend in the fashion industry with thinner male models, especially runway. Look at a Prada or (some) Dolce & Gabbanna runway shows. Prada is a prime example and has been using the geeky-thin but kinda toned look for some time and it's been gaining popularity. Granted we may not see the thinness of male models equal the desired thinness of the female ones, but it's starting to balance out somewhat I think. Androgyny is pretty big.
You were right until the 32-23 connection. Actually, 32 + 10 (the number of dimensions according to The Kabbalah Centre and String Theory) = 42, which, as we all well know, is The Ultimate Answer to Everything in the Universe (H2G2! Woo!)
This sounds like the book "Jennifer Government" to me, almost. In it, everyone takes the last name of the company you work for. Slightly different but they're really in a very similar vein.

Xenu made it all happen! Now, give me $15,000 and I'll clear your thetans.
The game ends when you build the space ship to Alpha Centauri!!
People can just not rig elections?
I think I'm on to something here! Honesty and integrity in politics.

In Soviet Russia, craters Tunguska YOU!
Yeah well that's hegemony for ya. Gotta love it.
Or are you talking autofellatio?
Wouldn't that be: 1. Bang 3. ...
2. Stars
4. Profit!

Bad article to read after reading the goatse.cx for sale article...
Put this in a girl robot and you can say, "Man she's stacked!" and not get a sexual harassment suit!

What have you got to lose? Except maybe Linux.
What if they stall? Who're we gonna get to push start?
