I think the fact that Ballmer bad PR is a big thing.

Early Microsoft it got Bill Gates who was considered the Wiz Kid who made it. The public liked it, and was willing to excuse any of Gates misspeaks as he was so young.

Then he got older and the general public (Sans the SlashDot and people who had interests in competitors) still like and respected Microsoft as it offered affordable software (Remember when Windows cost only $100).

Gates Jump ship when Microsoft was starting to suffer Gates wasn't the darling child anymore with the new Wiz Kids at Google, and Apple starting to come up with good products again.

Now with Balmer, he was generally a PR nightmare. His style is much like a 1980's infomercial which tries to get the crowd railed up, much like a cheerleader.

Microsoft needs a CEO who is much better at PR, who can Spin the Evil like Jobs does. And make us like Microsoft because we want to not because we are forced to.

Well lets start with the original iPhone.

They had other smart phones before but not quite like the iPhone... The way apple raises the bar is that they make technology that changes the way that you use it.

    1. Screen... I am not sure why don't think Apple hasn't risen the bar. As of right now the iPhone 4 has the highest resolution in terms of DPI with any other phone. Some will come out soon... But as of right now Apple is the lead on this.

    2. Camera... In terms of technical specs yes the iPhone is not the best camera.... However before the iPhone phone camera were really limited to taking a picture and texting it to your friend. Apple made it much easier to take these pictures and put them on your PC like a digital camera. Getting a link to connect your phone to a PC was an often unnecessary expense. Its 5 MegaPixel camera seems to be on par with the other phones out there now. Sure you got some 8+ Mega Pixels, out there too. But the iPhone actually made its original cheesy camera actually useful.

    3. CPU/RAM... What good is CPU and RAM if you don't use it.

    4. Music... For the past decade there were attempts to kill the iPod... The only thing that could kill the iPod is the iPhone.

    5. Bluetooth... Yea you got me there... However most of the time I just use blue tooth for hand free caller on my phone.

In terms of Apple raising the bar it really isn't so much about technical advancements and any particular unit. What Apple does is make a phone that does particular things and markets it in a way people want to do such things with their phone.

So If I looked at the Android and the other networks and I decided to go with AT&T and iPhone because they were the best products for me. I am most likely a fan boy?

I agree a lot of the Android Phones are getting really good... However Apple has been the company that has been really raising the bar... Not Android. What Android does is raises their bar to Apples Level for Apple to raise it again.

Having been a Verizon Customer then to switch to AT&T I have to say I was happier with AT&T... Their Reps were always more polite... I never had a pushy sales person on me. And were very nice on finding ways to lower my bills. Now I may have been lucky and just gone to the right locations and called at the right time, while with Verizon I was rather unlucky. Also perhaps AT&T just has more towers in the areas I travel too... But really the only part I hate about AT&T is that their plans cost as much as Verizons.

Now I am not saying AT&T is perfect. Gosh Darn It! I want Unlimited 3G networking, and allow the Smart phones to tether. Nor is Apple perfect either, Let me put run my own apps without jail breaking the phone, or going threw iTunes. Allow me to backup my music any way I want. and Give Me Flash support...

But having made decisions and seen the competitors I am Happy with the iPhone and AT&T. Now I know a lot of people who rather have some of the features Android is better then Apple is at, that is great more power to them... However I dislike being called a Fan Boy who does what Mr. Jobs says just because I buy Apple Products. Or I value freedom of choice any less just because I don't choose an Android or a Linux or GNU based choice.

So you make a script say a Python or Bash Script. That searches for files using find and grep that have the same interpreter you are using. Inject the Source for this script in a location where it will execute then run the normal code.
Check the users mozilla cache for websites that seem to have forms... Espectially Linux formums... Or Email people from your contact list or check of shared SSH keys and auto sftp in and see where you can put your code
Have it post a message randomly like Try This script... This should fix your problem.

Now what usually stops this type of script from spreading in Linux vs. Windows is 1 Linux Admins being better Admins know how to reduce root access to their system, and use it as a last resort.

The case of amount of Windows users vs. Linux users is a big case too. Just in terms of networking and finding like systems. It is not Linux superior model but it is just big enough to have enough stupid people to cause the virus to spread.

    3. There is a lot of security built into the Windows NT Kernel. In some ways more then in Linux. But still it is going to do what it told, and if you can run a program to raw write to your devices you have enough to cause problems.

Linux isn't any more secure then Windows is. However Linux users like to get bragging rights because they release fixes to security glitches fixes (a good thing) much faster then Windows does. However security patches isn't the only thing...

Usually the reason for most Vulnerabilities in Windows is due to stupid Administration. Being that windows is easier to maintain by the average joe, means that a lot of Windows Server Networks are being administered by people who really don't have any rights administering a network. Having Poor Security procedures, buzzword based security settings, Firewall with holes.

Linux users are either the Old time Unix administers or people who actually think about technology as a bit more of a means to an end, actually on the average are at least bit better then the laimo Windows Server non-administrators.

However Linux is still quite vulnerable. Updates may not be run as often as they should, legacy code needing older versions of software to run. The fact that they think they are immune makes sure fixing these problems are a less of a priority.

I have seen man Linux Systems hacked into more then I have seen windows systems, why because the administrators of the Linux systems were Lazy and bought into the fact that Linux is SO MUCH MORE SECURE THEN WiNDOWS and let the Servers Run Bragging about their huge uptimes while it keep on getting rooted. Yes the times I have seen Windows get compromised it is often a bigger problem then when it happens to Linux, as windows vulnerabilities make it more possible to spread viruses across the unsecured intranet.

But the moral of this post is. Don't put your faith in the software for security, Keeping a secure network is up to a human hopefully they are skilled to keep it secure.
