At will is the law, 2 weeks is customary. You can simply walk out without notice and they can escort you out without notice, but if you want to leave "on good terms" you generally give the 2 weeks notice.
Im not sure that you can sue for wrongful termination if they fire you during those 2 weeks, it probably depends on the state, but at the very least, if their only reason for the firing is that you are quitting, you could probably file for unemployment.
I bet they took a lot more than 27 8x10 color glossy photos with pictures and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence.
and that not to mention all the aerial photography
Actually I find their colors (which provide a more desirable light spectrum for plants) to be quite a bit different from what I would want to read by or look at art by. IIRC MH lights are kind of blueish while HPS lights are particularly yellow. But its been a while since I compared them. Sure they are great for flood lights outside but im not sure I would want them in the home.
While I agree with you in comparison to say, helmet or seatbelt laws, I think the smoking ban is quite apt here. The idea of this measure is to reduce energy consumption, your energy consumption does effect me and everybody else unless you happen to get all your energy from some renewable resource.
Not that I necessarily agree with this proposed law (It seems to have plenty of flaws), but in many ways laws aimed at reducing energy consumption are similar to smoking bans in that they are an attempt to improve the quality of our environment.
you have fallen into a trap. You believe that an innovative game means finding a new way to push bits around faster or better than before. It does not. A better game is created by designing something that is fun to play. Innovation comes in the form of new game play mechanics, new input styles, new types of stories.
Making a game with 10 times the polygons of the closest competitor is not really game innovation. Graphics innovation sure, but you could make pacman with everything bump mapped and shaded and such but it would still play like pacman.
yea, your right about this, 6-8 hours is not a likely amount of time for my household anyway (of course, no kids and my wife and I work so we arent even home enough to watch 6 hours a night).
But I'm not sure about your other assessments. Sure there is no reason to watch the news on your HD DLP set. But at least for me, if I buy one of these it will replace the wega CRT that is in the living room. It would be the primary TV for all TV watching whether it needs HD or not simply because of the location. If you are buying for a dedicated home theater that is one thing, but I dont think that is the standard.
I cant speak for other countries but Japan has TV shows designed to teach English.
Not that I actually think that TV in Japan, or any other country, is really all that different from what we see here. TV, like everything else, is mostly crap.
Cops drag non-violent protesters to their arrest all the time. This is no different. There is nothing illegal about going limp when the cops come to take you away and it is a lot safer than resisting actively.
you know, reading this thread, when I got to this comment, I wasn't sure what you were specifically replying to.
Then I remembered the nature of the thread I was reading and what site I was on and realized that it could have been equally applied to just about any of the comments. Well done!
you know... I love fighting games... I love games where I am blowing things away... but what I dont love is shelling out big money for the latest game that, game play wise, isnt that different from Wolf 3D. Sure, you've got better graphics and lighting and blood effects and maybe a fancy new weapon or two... but in the end your just crawling through levels killing nazis or zombies or zombie nazis...
Id love to see a fighting game that broke away from this totally and offered the same kind of content in a novel way,Bungie's Oni wasn't bad and there are others that are not just tons of killing but adding in bullet time does not a new game make.
I think Nintendo's strength is that they have been willing to try new things. Mario 64 changed the way I thought about games the first time I played it. I still think it is a great example of gaming inovation.
Im sure if someone asked the president straight out he would say that that is not what he meant
but try to craft legislation that makes creating a human cat hybrid killing machine illegal and doesnt make any number of useful applications of human animal hybrid illegal and you will see where the problem comes in.
where do you draw the line... I mean, this would clearly make using pigs to grow human organs illegal right? even though that might have profound positive effects on medicine.
in the case of yeast... well, at least its not technically an animal right...

If there were a cheep replacement to cigarettes that gave all the same physical effects (even with the lung cancer) people would flock to them.

Never mind the "Instant On" problem.

I have never had to use that feature before but its pretty damn cool. Thanks.

you really cant say that Mario 64 is just a re-hash of... well... anything really... but certainly not of super mario bros.
