When FOX first aired The Best Damn Sports Show Period! It was such a big deal. The word damn used to be lumped in with shit and fuck as too obscene for TV. Now I hear "shit" on regular TV shows after 10 pm. We all hear the word every day in our daily lives and in just about every movie we watch that isn't G rated. I just have to laugh when these groups feel it necessary to think for the rest of us when they shouldn't be allowed to think for themselves.
We know what his contribution was. We also know that the Catholic Church is full of child molesters and anti-science, superstitious dopes. Like we needed them to legitimize him with a stupid publicity stunt - no matter what the underlying reason for it is? Thanks but no thanks, Father, I'll keep my scientific heroes on a pedestal high above the ignorant gutters that you inhabit.
But if you do raise a legitimate concern you're labeled a cynic. And friends wonder why I'm so cynical. Because when you ask good questions the answers usually drive a person right to cynicism. Big shocker. Just another example of the source of my cynicism. (sigh)
Space exploration of the kind necessary to figure out where we're going to go when our Sun dies (or some other pre-supernova catastrophic event) is going to be a global effort anyway. Let other countries spend enormous amounts of their GDP on space R & D for a while. I'm not advocating getting rid of NASA or anything drastic, I just don't think that putting billions into a program just so we're "the leader" is a tad egotistical at a time when there are other more important things we could be NOT spending money on. Yes, the space program is necessary for technological breakthroughs and advancements, but let's not get our panties in a bunch if Japan, Russia, or China decide they want to outspend us for a while. It's going to ultimately take the United States involvement to carry out any real major manned missions. Let some other countries do some of the heavy lifting for a while.
Way to go Texas! Way to show the world how truly idiotic 'merica can be with the wrong amount of common sense about the right ideas. Once again you set the agenda for the rest of America to ignore. Just stick to fucking up our textbooks.
regardless of what the opinions of other tools might be. If legitimate doctors consider it a legitimate piece of rehab equipment, then what's the problem? It costs a helluva lot less than a decent treadmill and if used properly is better for.
Because I just came across a blatant advertisement on Slashdot trying to convince me that buying an iPad instead of an in-car entertainment option was something I would be stupid not to do. I'm guessing the convenience factor of an ICE system is one of the big selling points and the fact that the components are generally designed for a decent amount of abuse. Did Steve Jobs leave this story laying on a bar somewhere?
I actually still possess a "Supermac" clone, but the point being made was that Gates was more concerned about licensing the software and couldn't care less about the hardware end of it and left that up to the PC makers, which at the time was the right move. Jobs was just less willing to concede the hardware profits to other manufacturers.
I thought we were talking about what if back when... I'm not fanboying MS, I'm just stating facts. OS X would probably be more ubiquitous than Windows now if Jobs had licensed his OS. Now is a different story and different game. Calm down Sparky - I'm typing this on a Mac!
...Apple had licensed it's operating system to computer manufacturers like Windows did. While Windows wasn't "open source", it was certainly made more openly available. Bill Gates was just smarter at the time than Steve Jobs. You could play the what if game all day long with all sorts of scenarios.
Better built and safer cars with active restraint systems. Better drivers. Better roads. Faster and SAFER speeds. Driving age should be raised to 18 and mandatory vision and driving tests every 3 years for drivers over 70. We don't need roads to slow us down, we need technology to speed us up safely.
Global warming? A dubious reason at best. Just another excuse to inflate claims about a naturally occurring event to push an agenda. When will folks learn that some of us see through the nonsense and tend to discount the overall legitimacy of the authors of such tripe?
I overstated my meaning I think. Yes, it certainly was about the language of the contract. I'm just glad he sided with Mr. Floyd (which one's Pink?) instead of trying to find a way to side with the corporation.
I like targeted marketing based on my personal information/friends/interests. It seems to make sense to allow marketers into that part of your consumer life because it makes everyone's job easier. It's easier for them to push ads that you might be interested in and it's easier for you to find merchandise and services that you're actually interested in. The gleaning of this type of information is only going to get more detailed and hopefully the marketing based on this information more intelligent. Pandora's Box is opened and can't be shut so I hope at least they use the information for my benefit as well as theirs.
This doesn't prevent Pink Floyd from making a separate deal to sell individual songs. To me it's more about smacking down EMI for trying to bypass contract verbiage and I applaud that. It's nice to see that a judge thinks an artist's vision of their work actually counts for something.
Since my days of doing phone tech support for Gateway computers (when Win 95 just came out) I've been saying that people need to have some type of license that would allow them to operate a computer. While I get all the privacy, big brother, etc. issues, some people should just plain not be allowed to "drive" a computer. Yes, flaws in OS and browser software allows for the nasties to exist in the first place, but it's clueless and careless users who perpetuate these nasties far more and far worse than the rest of us with half a clue about this stuff.
I'm not sayin' he shoulda killed the ignorant user, but I understand.
Because the big delete key is actually the backspace key. Apple just had to be different I guess. The small delete key deletes stuff on the right side of the cursor. But I'm sure you already know this. I'm posting this for those that might not be familiar with what you are talking about.
to use this when cybersexing.
Cool.

It's EVIL!! I'm pretty sure I saw the word "Comcast" embossed on that piece of carbon-ized Evil at the end of Time Bandits. I do hate them so.

Um...amen?
Not that I really believe something catastrophic will come of it, but I was thinking the same thing. :)

It's such a completely humorless waste of time. Yes, that's right-Bah humbug.

Oh. Um, I... look, if we built this large wooden badger...

Do they all just collide in midair?
