I'd go a step farther and say she's one of the most powerful people in the world, regardless of gender. Does she have a military, no. Industry? No. But she commands a legion of rabid, fervent devotees that would likely march into Hell on her command. And many of those devotees are powerful people in their own right.

Yes, Oprah does scare me a little.

  4. Re:I live south of ponca city on Police Cars To Transmit Real-Time Video · · Score: 1

Hi, I work for a mom and pop here. We're already getting some calls for support on it, mostly from people with basic questions about it. A big problem is going to be that at the time the City is offering 0 support on it, which is fair considering that it's a free service. We'll just wait and see how that pans out in the long run.

My thought is that the City eventually wants to become an ISP. They already sell bandwidth over their citywide fiber network, I really think it's just a matter of time before they do it on a for-pay basis to the consumer; current deployment is just beta testing while they figure out how to do it for a fee. Or maybe I'm just paranoid.

It sort of depends on how Gore would have handled the WTC incident in September of 2001, doesn't it? It's pretty easy to guess that Gore wouldn't have launched a war in Iraq, but how would he have responded to that act of terrorism? If he'd done nothing would we have ended up with more incidents? Would he have committed more guys in Afghanistan, possibly blowing that part of the world up by getting Pakistan involved?

It's really easy for us to sit here and say "wow, that guy has sucked pretty bad". It's a little more difficult to suss out whether or not the other guy would have sucked any less.
