    It has been my observation that people seek out news sources that
    mirror their own notions to begin with.

    Successful news sites have figured this out and tailor their
    content accordingly.

    FOX tends tends towards sensationalism and ignorance and therefore
    attracts those kinds of people. And makes a fair piece of change from
    doing so.

    If you make adjustments based on experimentation, then your theory becomes nothing more than
    "explaining the results" which is bad science.

    In other words, the experimenter should not say "your model failed this particular test"
    but "your model failed".

    Java/AWT pro: tends to work on all platforms. con: your app generally tends to look bad on every platform.

    Java/SWT: pro: tends to work well on all platforms. con: you might have to drink the eclipse kool-aid

    Tcl/TK: It is a silly language. You don't want to go there.

    OpenGL pro: "gui" portion tends to work on all platforms w/tweaks. con: hard to work with unless you adopt some toolkit.

    In practice, however, if you really only care about Windows, write windows native code and allow WINE to take care
    of the rest.

    The cost of a co-pilot per years runs about $150,000 (guess)

    Now, how many crashes could be prevented over 10 years, by the presence
    of a co-pilot.

    I don't really know, but I would bet the number is exceedingly low.

    You can't make cost-based decisions based on "what if some extremely random thing happened".

    So why not have 2 co-pilots? 3 co-pilots? It always boils down to a matter of cost.
    If the cost of a co-pilot exceeds the expected cost of a crash because the co-pilot was not there, say, over 1000 flights,
    then the co-pilot should be eliminated.

    If you are inside an event horizon (you can't ever see anything outside of the event horizon),
    then if something enters your event horizon you are now able to see it, thus
    invalidating the premise of the event horizon.

    That means either:

    1) Event horizon's do not exist.
    2) You can't *really* enter an event horizon from the outside.
