  1. Really Angry on Major Australian ISP Pulls OpenOffice · · Score: 1

I've had it up to my neck with Telstra, and this is seriously the last straw.

  2. Haha on Promise of OOXML Oversight By ISO Falls Through · · Score: 1

All the more reason why OOXML should be scrapped in favour of ODF.

  3. GO AWAY! on Microsoft Wants OLPC System to Run Windows XP · · Score: 1

    Microsoft should get lost. Now.
There is absolutely no reason why they should be meddling in the OLPC Project.
They're just afraid that more people will find out how good Linux is and stop using the craphouse that is Windows

  4. right click work around on Rowling Sues Harry Potter Lexicon · · Score: 1

The Disabled Right-Click thingy is easily worked around with Firefox, making it pointless.

  5. WIN on Wikileaks Releases Sensitive Guantanamo Manual · · Score: 1

This is what the Internet is all about.
    Free speech.
The US Government should suck it up big time.

  6. oh man on iPhone Keyboard Leads to Typso · · Score: 1

    Gotta love typsos

  7. Cool on Japan's Melody Roads Play Music as You Drive · · Score: 1

There is one word for this. AWESOME.

  8. A couple of problems on Facial Recognition Vending Machine Debuts · · Score: 1

    1) Will it recognise non-Asians? A Japanese built system probably only looks at people with Asian faces, and doesn't look at Caucasians or anything else. To be honest though, I reckon a US, UK or Australian built system similar to this one would probably forget Asians and other races and only focus on Caucasians. 2) What happens if someone wears a mask?

  9. Wow on Google Honors Veterans Day, Finally · · Score: 1

I never realised people took things like that so seriously.
Good on Google for finally doing it though.

  10. A victory on Nigerian Government Nixes Microsoft's Mandriva Block · · Score: 1

This is a terrific victory for the OLPC Project.

  11. This deal is not fair. on Microsoft Denies Sabotaging Mandriva Linux PC Deal · · Score: 1

Microsoft should learn their place and get lost.

  12. Awesome on Students Assigned to Write Wikipedia Articles · · Score: 1

This is exactly the way Wikipedia needs to go. Teachers need to stop treating Wikipedia like a piece of dirt, find out what it's about and how it works so they can understand it better, and advocate this to the students. Teachers should lead the way in showing the general public that Wikipedia is not trash.

  13. Good on themG on FCC Complaint Filed Over Comcast P2P Blocking · · Score: 1

Good on those people for filing complaints. The Internet is NOT to be censored, because that defeats the whole purpose of the Internet. If I knew that my ISP was going to try and control what I accessed on the Internet, I would leave them faster then they could say "censor".

  14. This is exactly the problem on BBC "Not In Bed With Bill Gates" · · Score: 1

This is exactly why Linux is not as widely used at it should be. Because companies refuse to support it. It's a continuous, unbreaking loop. Companies don't write software for Linux, so no one uses it. Because no one uses it, people don't see any point in writing software for it. See my point?

  15. Over the top on Anti-Terrorism and the Death of the Chemistry Set · · Score: 1

This is waaaay over the top. Sure, we might live in a world where terrorism is a major threat. But since when was an 8 year old kid a terrorist?

  16. bulldust on Do OpenOffice Users Save In Microsoft Format? · · Score: 1

I always save my files in OpenOffice in the Open Document Format, unless I am sending the file to another person who has MS Office and therefore can't open Open Documents. Why would you save a file in a format that is 4 times as big as another one?

  17. Two problems on YouTube Filtering Is On-Line · · Score: 1

    1) this new copyright protection system is easily circumvented by altering one pixel of one frame in the video, making it pointless and a waste of time 2) assuming big companies do provide the "decades of material", what happens if Youtube gets hacked?

  18. Idiots on Getting Gouged by Geeks · · Score: 2, Informative

That is why I will never let a so-called computer technician into my house to look at my computer which he knows jack all about.

  19. Not LG and Samsung's problem on Copy Protection Backfires on Blu-ray · · Score: 1

It should not be up to the product manufacturers to fix Blu-ray's problem. When you create a standard, you make sure it's completely finished BEFORE you release it. You don't go and add extra stuff to it once you've released it, and then expect everyone else to catch up to you.

  20. Crash and burn on Trans-Atlantic Robots · · Score: 1

Let's hope you do better then the titanic

  21. What? on Federal Government Inadvertently Deleted Ca.Gov · · Score: 1

How the hell do you delete a domain?!?!

  22. This is awesome on MS Awarded "Best Campaigner Against OOXML" · · Score: 1

More and more proof that Microsoft sucks big time. I really really hope that the money goes to Peru, because MS is the last organisation that needs cash.

  23. Hooray! on Slashdot Turns 10 But You Get The Presents · · Score: 1

    Happy Birthday Slashdot!

  24. It's a real pity on Microsoft Prepping Browser-based Word and Excel · · Score: 1

When will Microsoft learn? This is not going to do them any favours at all. If they ever want to compete with Google, they're going to need to grow a brain for starters

  25. Success on Halo 3 Causing Network Issues · · Score: 1

Well I guess this does prove that Halo 3 has been a success at the very least!
