but this was the first time I heard of Samsung having native Linux drivers so as long as they stop screwing up peoples systems they might get some good publicity out of this ironically though I'm not sure if they deserve it.
but only for unsigned singers whose popularity is through their websites. That way if they have a few hundred dedicated fans maybe 10 of them will pay to get a love song changed to have their name in it for example and that'd earn the musician a few thousand $ as long as their fanbase is big enough.
The X-Files started going downhill when most of the seasons had more impossible conspiracy episodes than anything else... it just started getting boring. As long as it's stand-alone and supernatural instead of the government conspiracy dribble from before it has great potential. I've often thought the series could come back without problems as long as they made the episodes all about one-off paranormal incidents and found a way to finish with the never-ending conspiracy.
Practically every company is trying to oppose anything Google does since it's a risk for them. Google has a cash cow with adsense similar to what MS has with Office/Win... with billions of $ in unused cash AT&T probably thinks with some justification it's only a matter of time before they get bored and move in on their markets with some VOIP services that could hurt their core business.
don't really punish bad behaviour too often. A lot of the ones that end up in the news have really pathetic reimbursements that the "victims" need to be bothered to apply for. I mean what's the point of these things if you still make many more millions and then need to give a tiny iota back or some free song downloads to the few principled citizens who have the time to get it. They should modify the laws so that any unclaimed money still needs to be paid as a fine.
Both Sony and MS seem to be whatever they can to destroy their positions, only Nintendo seems to understand it's better to have one standardized system at a standard price than several models at several prices with different functionalities and compatabilities. This is a bit like how Sega self-destructed with the 32X/MEGACD. You ruin the whole advantage of having a console instead of a gaming pc once you start getting a choice of consoles with different abilities and different available upgrades.
is a biological imperative primarily among intellectuals I think. The way most people of this generation upload all their personal things on myspace without a thought says a lot. Contrast that to slashdot where the majority probably have no interest to do this and are more likely to be using tor and disabling cookies and other things that most people couldn't care less about.
Have you actually used Vista? It's the same situation as when XP came out, everyone hated it for a few days and then got used to it. People who didn't use it or had older hardware stuck with 2K. Vista is very stable and is better for most people assuming you've got a decent computer. Only real problems I've had were some rubbish drivers from ASUS that needed to be updated. It's also worthless if you get the basic editions. I really think a lot of people who hate it have 1) never used it 2) trying to install on minimum spec 3) home basic edition.
is just shifting the blame. It's a black stain on their record that they put a virus on peoples computers. Now they can say that it was someone elses fault regardless of the outcome of this lawsuit. It's surprising they waited this long to say "someone else made this, we're all so innocent here, let's sue these bad bad guys".
that most terrorists of the blow ourselves up kind are too stupid to ever do this in the first place. When you look at a lot of the recent bombings or attempted bombings in London the terrorists had all the advantages and were still too retarded to kill a lot of people as you'd expect they could if they had brains since they have the advantage of surprise and crowded civilians.
became worthless after everyone got the internet and gets the latest news constantly, there's no real surprises anymore. 10 years ago it was a more exciting event that most people were reading about in gaming magazines only.
behind the success of all SN sites is most people prefer to sit at home sending messages to everyone they may or may not know instead of picking up the phone. It's more impersonal so people find it easier to waste time casually instead of calling up 30 people and going out so much.
outside of Japan it seems most people prefer the 360 with the online services but it's going to end up as a question of who can lose more money for years on end with both consoles posting huge losses. I really doubt a 20% drop is going to make people who would otherwise buy a wii/360 buy a ps3. It's still a lot of money and for some reason people who might spend $500 on a phone like to get up in arms and principled about consoles that cost this amount of money.
may be a horrible thing but it probably has something to do with this. That and Chinese getting richer. With 98/2k/etc you could used a burn copy of any MS stuff and it'd all work perfectly with Windows Update and everything else. Now with XP after WGA and especially Vista you can still crack stuff but it becomes more of a hassle if you care about what's on your HDD and want updates and whatever else. So I think these are the reasons the piracy is going down instead of Chinese people suddenly caring about their certificates of authenticity and 3 men holograms:)
has always been shipping out the same slightly updated sports junk every year and I guess they might finally be sick of it after looking at how WOW is taking a fortune *every* month, I'm sure big game companies are looking into making stuff like that where they can derive a passive income permanently.
there's nothing wrong with this, but from a practical "human nature" point of view it's one of those things that's beyond horrible even though I'm sure it's a hassle to get these very expensive dogs the old-fashioned way. It's about what kind of society we want to live in, this isn't really for science, this is to save a few dollars and do something cheapening to mans best friend in the process.
They want to release an LG KE850. It's a good lesson in marketing how Apple can be hailed as innovative for taking an LG phone that won design awards and making some modifications.
It's possible that something very bad for you that can kill you in a dozen different ways can be used in some different ways but it sounds a bit like those "drinking coffee while smoking is better for you than just smoking" articles. Something that technically might be one iota less harmful but in reality is still terrible for you.
If you read through the previous slashdot article there are some now gone torrents that google cache shows.
The pathetic thing about the pirate bay in general is they're doing immature things that aren't worth risking your freedom for. People are meant to risk their lives and freedom for ideals worth protecting, not the freedom to download copies of the latest far from essential Hollywood trash without paying for it.
I'm guessing the admins would be arrested the moment they set foot in a lot of countries so it's a shame they chose this for a cause to fill the voids in their lives.
As safe as anything else... I'm sure a lot of stuff with geniuses has ended up doing more harm than good but that'd be a pretty stupid reason to stop scientific progress when there's probably a greater chance of this Earth being blown away by a near earth object that NASA isn't monitoring than this.
It's possible but the thing that'll stop the utopia is the lack of an educated populace. Of course there's always going to be people arguing for reason but the thing that makes a dystopia more likely is with the power in the masses who are going to vote they're less likely to make good decisions. This is because with technology human stupidity has been exasberated, same goes for obesity:). People who are now spending all their free time doing moronic things on digg/myspace and talking in incomprehensible sms english would've probably been better citizens if they'd been born 30 years ago and grown up in an environment with less WOW:) The problem will be that these people who are needed to ensure any chance at a utopia probably wont give a damn about privacy or laws or whatever else outside of their sheltered little worlds.
they should focus on getting the HD-DVD right in a cheap package for the sake of killing blu(e?)ray. The Xbox 360 elite seemed to be a bit of a screwup making a slightly nicer new console and ruining the price advantage with the ps3 without much extra. Still you'd imagine this *has* to happen with more cost-effective building because even though the 360 is a very nice console they're still losing a lot of $ on the bottomline.
Of course who cares about the Chinese government but it shows that whilst human nature hasn't changed in thousands of years technology has and privacy is going straight to hell. What used to be non-existant or only available to governments with multi-billion $ defence budgets is quickly becoming available to every man and his dog as Google Earth shows. The bad thing is without human nature changing we're all going to end up in a screwed society where we must all watch our words and actions like politicians in case there being recorded or publically posted in ways that could ruin our careers for the crime of being human once in a while.
Nobody will use them in the first place so they don't need a set, it's one of those antique things that someone will buy and never touch.

is the dead tree solution without any computers in site. Anything else is bad for everyone except Diebold.
