Wrong. High parry is good for mitigation since you parry an attack. If a boss parries you (which is affected by expertise) that will reset their swing timer.
As for your gear issue, go hit a few heroics. There are decent epic tank shoulders from Heroic Sethekk halls, even.
Hint: NASCAR got rich only after the TV cameras could focus on one car for more than three seconds at a time. This is why Formula 1 car racing isn't as successful in North America. I thought it was the mental strain put on the average NASCAR fan by watching something other than two to three straight hours of left turns...
