I suspect the signals that are aimed at the US but end up in Canada are considered "public domain" in Canada - much like the DirectTV satellite signals coming from the US. There was a ruling in Canada a while ago basically saying that if you can pick up the signal, enjoy it. But they made it illegal for anyone to sell devices in Canada that could pick up the US signal.
You're kidding, right? The submitter is either purposely acting ignorant or really has had their head under a rock for the past five years. Software piracy is "far-fetched?" Why do you think all the games companies are so eager to move to consoles now?
I suspect the submitter meant that singling out P2P as to the reason for all this piracy is far fetched, not that software piracy alone is far fetched.
I agree - Tim Beauchamp's site doesn't even mention Professor Edward Kasner anywhere but it does talk about what a Googol is. Clearly that's not doing Kasner's work justice! Heh heh.
Oddly enough, Googol.com has a link back to Google.
That's because in Canada we primarily use the metric system (at least we try to). But, due to the large amount of trade between Canada and the US, we're forced to also use your Imperial system to make things easier.
Here's what they are up against, according to the OCA: The province boasts 15,000 to 25,000 marijuana grow operations employing (at six persons per grow) between 90,000 and 150,000 people. The agency estimated the annual wholesale value of the pot crop at $4 billion. At $2,000 per pound, that is about two million pounds of BC bud each year, much of it headed south. The agency estimated that as much as 95 percent of the crop is exported to the ravenous U.S. market.
BC sends more Bud to the US than it does Wood. Wow.
Perhaps Marijuana is the answer to terrorism? Allowing everyone to see "clearly", thus allowing us to all get along. It's worth a shot eh?
I wish Canada would get a list like this. I work at home some days too and I can get close to 20 unsolicited calls each day. Ones that go un-answered call back every hour. It's crazy. In Canada you can ask to be removed from the calling list of the company that contacts you, and by law they have to, but the companies keep changing and being sub-contracted. They seem to be able to skirt around the law.
There was talk of a list like this for Canada but I don't know where it went.
This is so true. In every client engagement I have, after every discussion where there are no minutes taken I email them to confirm the decisions made to have it in writing. That is the only way to enforce the decisions made, and to validate that everyone is on the same page.
Up here Canada Post has been pumping commercials promoting the use of letters and touting slogans like "There's nothing that says it like a letter". I think they are feeling a bit of the drain and are just trying to catch it early. I can't remember the last time I sent a letter via the surface. It's all e-mail now. Sign 'o the Times.
...cuz it's the only pussy he'll see.
Check out iPodlounge.
http://www.ipodlounge.com/
Lots of good links, reviews and discussion there about all things iPod (software and hardware related).
Cheers.
I've got an iPod and have not touched iTunes.
iTunes FREE and proud of it!

It's a donkey rodeo out there.
They should move up to Canada where we protect the user's rights to fair use.
;)
Do they have any Canadian-based offices?
But, as many have pointed out before, DVD Shrink and DVD Decryptor are far superior products, and thus there is no need for 321's product.
DMCA schmeeMCA.
Just curious... how does something "fall" in zero g? Doesn't falling imply gravity?
What would a cat do in Zero G? Would it continously try to adjust itself.
Now THAT would be funny to see.
Cats in spce... the next fontier.
At 300K per employee, let 3,333 and 1/3 employees go.
Heh heh.

I smell a money grubbing rat.

America - please convert. It's long overdue!
This also has large impats to the CRM world where the battle between Siebel, PeopleSoft and Oracle is heating up.
I certainly hope it does not happen.
You will still be able to buy on-line - but only directly from GW.
According to the usenet article by Neal of Warstore, GW informed him that:
Also effective July 15th, no stores besides their own will be permitted to sell GW products on the internet.
Looks like they want to contol all internet sales of their products.
Apparently, it's more than just occasionally:

Kudos to Bush - a good law to sign for sure.

CYA indeed.
As per their page:
Inputs:
DV In (x1)
Video In (x3) (Phono)
S-Video In (x3) (S4P)
Audio In (x3) (Phono)
With all this copy-protection being implemented, maybe we'll see a return of the audio tape. They can't protect against that.
...give them a 'root' over their head.
Sorry... could not resist.
I don't think the remote has a keyboard on it - rendering this feature useless... unless you can use a wireless keyboard with this thing.
Naturally, it's available in Adobe's PDF format. ;)
