The thought never crossed my mind... and I am not being sarcastic. I've heard people debate it and argue it but I never even considered it. It's Picard for God's sakes.
More on topic - do Knights actually hold any government sway or what? If the British Empire were to collapse and the world dive in to chaos, could we have Picard as our last line of defense? Say the whole cabinent were to be assassinated... could we vote Jean Luc in to save us?
When I first started playing WoW there wasn't any of this fancy "meeting stones" or "looking for group". If you wanted to get people together to play you shouted into random channels in Ironforge. No cross realm ques for battlegrounds and there were no PVP rewards, and we liked it! If you wanted a horse, you saved your money from level one and didn't even THINK of buying anything until you had it, and if you wanted something other than a horse TOO BAD. Everything was better then. Loot meant something and everyone in your group looked out for you and made sure the right people got the right gear. Back in my day Paladins were ineffective but unkillable, shamans were GODS and if you wanted to leave Tarren Mill you WALKED because the flightmaster was DEAD. You think it's hard now? Imagine running MC and hoofing it back to your body in Blackrock, uphill both ways! Now get off my lawn
I had the same problem and I replaced my Family with Macs. Now I harldy, if ever, have to fix their computers or answer inane tech questions. I am telling you, this is the only arrangment that will work for you.
Do you think the "significant" updates might have something to do with wanting to maintain their player base and combat people from leaving their game for WAR? They have to keep their content fresh to keep up with newly released MMO's. Just a thought.
To be quite honest, I am hoping for this. Small and stable usually means the under 18 and complete moron population stays at manageable levels. WoW may have 10 million subscribers, but my experience (5 years in the game, multiple 70's) has shown there are more trolls and cry babies than I care for.
I've picked up WAR and it is a decent game with alot of perks WoW doesn't have. There are it's downsides, but I imagine they will be fixed with time. The RvR harkens back to the good ol'e days of DAoC and running gank squads through DF... good times. Anyone who loved DAoC will love WAR.
The game is quite well done. I have finally found a WoW alternative.. no joke WoW addicts.. this is it... The raw game mechanics are nothing new, but the game is just so frikien fun. Public quests are just an amazing way to get to know people and have fun smashing things with fellow adventurers... no more waiting for that one mob to pop.
The RvR system is very reminiscent of good ole DAoC (which I played for quite sometime) with keep seiges and huge open world RvR. Bored? Feel like killing? Hop into a RvR scenario Queue from ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. It's really just a very well done game. There are the cons of some of the animations sticking and a few other non-essential things but overall I think anyone whose looking for the next WoW needs to pick this up.
I think what we have to do, as a community, is stop bitching at the game developers, and start bitching out the dirty bastards who steal games and ruin it for the rest of us! Seriously, hardly any breath is spent on criticising these leaches. In fact, I bet I see it justified several times over the course of this thread. If it becomes socially unacceptable, people will stop doing it so much. Right now, stories like this just work as justification for more theft.
STOP GODDAMN STEALING!
Not a breath... like.. the lawsuits...? The... countless articles and blogs...? Hmmmm... I am pretty sure there's plenty of bitching going on about software / movie / music pirates.
Name one video game that has the intellectual depth of a fine art painting or literature. Just like comic books and manga, video games occupy the same intellectual ground as pulp fiction novels and trash romantic comedy movies. There has never been nor will there ever be a video game that can compare with great art and literature like Rafael, Picasso, van Gogh, James Joyce, Yeats, or Shakespeare.
I am sorry but Bioshock had the story (literature) and the soundtrack (music) to define it as "art" in my book... and I don't think I am alone. It would of made an excellent novel.
I'd weight the time it would take, the cost, the stress involved... It's not worth it. Not to mention if we are talking Newline V. Me I'd be forced to hire a lawyer that more than likely would end up costing over 100k when all is said and done. It's all hypothetical but I guess I am just one of those contestants on "Deal or no Deal" that Deals at 80k... not worth the stress.
That analogy works well with slashdot anti-RIAA sentiment, but it's not completely accurate.. the RIAA isn't just some big stupid bully, it has the full support of United States law. It sees a multibillion dollar cash cow and it's milking it- this is not the RIAA's fault, it's the government's for allowing it to happen. Not to flame or anything, but isn't that the point? They are supported by the US Law because what downloaders/file sharers are doing is illegal. I'll admit the RIAA isn't coming up with a solution and doesn't seem to want to, they are content with just suing everyone... but if it's within their rights then I don't see what the issue is. Stop downloading/sharing or run the risks.
Trust me, if your employer gave you 90% of your promised salary, you would complain that you "had not been paid"
Maybe it's just us common folk... but (as an example) $900,000 instead of $1 million wouldn't cause me to involve myself in a legal battle with Newline. Like I said, maybe it's just us common folk...
I wouldn't worry about it to be honest. Valve is making bank off Steam. They've come up with an innovative system, and they know it... their customer base knows it. Most of my gaming is done through Steam now as well because it's just.. so damn easy.

Fixed that up for you.

No one is ever right on /.
No one
Don't read this - I mis-moderated someone >.
I am no medical expert but I am pretty sure we can't "cure" the flu... Doesn't the thing constantly mutate making a "polio-like" vaccine impossible?
The spokesman said the higher prices reflected higher operating costs and VAT rates.
You don't have enough action points.
...hire these people for the FBI or something? At least that's how the movies go...
Hah, you just described Spike's fighting style perfectly... never heard that before.. Wish I had some mod points :P
I hope Erectile Dysfunction doesn't kick in at 25... might as well Bobbit myself.
Go back to your wretched hive of scum and villany... digger!

Touche good sir. They still complain. My brain didn't put too much emphasis on the "community" aspect.

They are 2 different companies. This is actually a pretty good read Worth the time.
The prosecutor can prosecute these cases as felonies, with a maximum penalty of a $5,000 fine and/or up to four years in prison.
Nothing too stiff compared to what you can get for pirating a movie... :/
You mean a gold farming class?
