When I visited there on a education related function, the tech demo they gave us was that they even have a dual cell/wifi phone in the works that will switch between the two based on service area.
I have uptimes of 1-2months+ on average for my desktop xp box. One of the major problems I realized is that explorer sucks ass at staying up for longer than a month or so. I switched to Blackbox for Windows, and it's been running nicely. I haven't tried the official 0.0.90 release, but the beta is ok, a little flakey, and 0.0.80 is good.
Sunny days? My sister recently went to school for 6 years in Utica, and according to everyone, upperstate NY gets snow, snow, and more snow (with a topping of even more snow). Amazingly, when I went to go visit a few months ago, there was actually no snow and a sun in the sky, which every single person and professor I ran into commented on.
No, my boss said to do pointless thing like reorganize the whole fucking shelf system of parts, or clean up media when it's going to be used again and easier to find out how it is.

Don't bother with the VAIO if your mother is accident prone. Those things are not worth the cost to fix if they break physically...
