Answered repeatedly in the previous discussion... Supposedly it's because blender started out as an animation sequencer... Kinda hard to sync lip animation and actors' voices w/out audio sequencing stuff.
Don't question the audio sequencing stuff, question the UI. It's a complete laundry list of everything that's wrong w/ software usability today.
Not saying this isn't a great topic to discuss, but next time you guys get an Ask Slashdot question, how about junking it if there isn't a "please" or a "thanks in advance" somewhere?
The sooner they release it, the sooner these guys will get their hands on it. Then we can all (ok, the few people who actually do buy it) say, "bye bye" to their encryption...
Hint: if any of you honestly think that this project (whose original purpose was coordinating emergency response services and that I am most definitely not associated with in any way and anyone implying otherwise is lying) wouldn't be used to deprive you of your civil rights, then you need a savage beating w/ a cluestick. For starters, go look up COINTELPRO.
As a society, we have a responsibility to provide a meaningful education. The Interweb provides many educational materials. Installing filters in school will prevent kids from looking up information on disease, history, guns, or politicians.
The government is not being "good enough" by providing web access, they're doing the right thing. As Chris Rock said:
1: (proudly) "I take care of my kids!"
2: You're supposed to take care of your kids, you dumb motherfucker!
Filters wouldn't be a problem if there was some sort of transparency whereby parents (taxpayers) could view what was being filtered.
Well, this explains why I don't get any of those stupid SnowCraft emails anymore, Blizzard must have sued and shut them down!
(SnowCraft was this silly game where you controlled three people and they're throwing snowballs at people who throw snowballs at you... Fun for about three seconds, then you're all like "stop sending me dumb stuff dammit!")

Whatever happened to Nullsoft's waste? I know it got pulled by AOL and all, but no one's bothered to pick it up, rename it, continue working on it?
Dye on fingers? Please elaborate?
Practice.

I got Homeworld: Cataclysm yesterday and finished it today, so the term "Beast" made me do a double take...
It's perfectly possible to review a book w/out giving away the ending. Way to ensure that I won't be grabbing the book anytime soon.
Thanks.
Electronic sheep?

How many software engineers does SCO have working for them?
Why are they still working at SCO? Surely they value their dignity, right?
I don't like Joel or anything, but he covered this... basically, it may not be the victowee against Windoze you think it is...
snopes is fairly right wing, but they're still in action. I think.
Who moderated this troll up?
Opera has a very free version, using ads to bring in revenue. Other than the ads, there's no difference between the free version and the paid version.
Opera comes with a mail client. It's weird but it reads my POP3 box just fine, thank you.
Has he had a single good idea?
No seriously, the blurb says this is his second massive failure. What has he succeeded in? (other than the Patriot Act)
Isn't this how they created the AIs that blew up the world in Odyssey 5?

It's possible for you to change things, but only if you pick up your phone and call your representative's office.
What are my options for treatment?
No, seriously...
Please?
Probably because his European family disowned him.

Close enough?
*pshaw*
The Pentagon has misplaced a trillion dollars before, so if you feel that they're mistakenly spending half a billion dollars on something worthless, don't worry about it.

I'm in the market for a tiny computer, does anyone know how this compares to Cappuccino PCs?
