Interestingly enough MTV (and VH1 and CMT) just started a new channel called MHD (Music High Definition) and Dish Network just started caring it. For the moment it has actually all been music (I am sure they will break that soon enough). It has a mix of live concerts, music videos and unplugged style small group performances. I really like it so far.
I work for a small/medium size company (around 160 employees nationwide, but the bulk are in one area) and we go through Dell. Saying they make you press a dozon buttons on the phone to speak with anyone is just a lie. I have the direct extension to my account rep and can get her quickly any time during the day.
While Dell does have their problems, getting a hold of support and account reps is not one of them for Small Business purchases.
Or is it that Denis Dydack had his balls handed to him last e3 with the horrible Too Human demo they showed off. Post e3 he want off one a crazy tangent saying he didn't want to ever show un-finished games to reviewers again, because they might be mean to him again.
If you heard his interview on one of the EGM podcasts (I think it was EGM atleast) he was acting like a 4 year old that was told his crayon drawing sucked.
They probably didn't want to have the press give people more reasons to not be interested in Too Human.
You can get a Dish Network DVR622 for free with an 18 month commitment now. 250GB of storage and coming in August you can use external USB drives for even more storage. Online records are coming in September via dishonline.com. Add that it can record three unique HD feeds at a time (2 Sat + 1 OTA) and Dish offers the most HD channels of any provider (6 more coming August 15th). I just don't see why people pay for receivers/DVR's any more.
I still play WiiSports with my nieces all the time. I still play Mario Party 8 with my wife often. Resident Evil 4 is even more fun then when I played it on my cube and I just got a few new VC games with some gift cards from a few friends.
Don't forget that those 300 hours SD/30 hours HD are based on MPEG2 channels. Since Dish is moving more and more of their HD channels to MPEG4 (and at the end of the year will have a full MPEG4 offering for customers) that will push it to around 600 hours/60 hours.
I might be stretching the definition of "non-subscription" but Dish Network now has their "DVR Advantage" plan where for $49.99 you get 250 channels + your locals + a dual tuner DVR. Having use the Dish522, Dish622, MythTV and a few different Tivo's...I have to say my preference goes to the Dish DVR's. I have a 622 (the HD MPEG4 one) and I love it.
Having been with SBC/AT&T for 3 years now for DSL service I am also nothing but happy. They started with only 1.5Mb in my area, but I now get 6Mb for $29.99/month. Add a basic POTS line with caller id and I don't even pay $60/month after taxes.
I have been using meebo.com for months now. It is great to have my full IM chat logs available any where. At work, home, pizza hut (they have free wifi), my parents house, anywhere. It just works great.
I had a HTC 6700 (Alltel) and my screen broke because I took it out of my coat pocket. It hadn't had any pressure applied to it, it just broke for no good reason. Thankfully my insurance with Alltel got me a Treo 700wx where I can enjoy real battery life again too.
DirecTV has never claimed to be offering 100 HD channels by years end. They say they will have the capacity for 100+ HD channels by years end. DirecTV couldn't offer 100 since there simply aren't that many at all. The current leader in HD programming is Dish Network with 32 national HD channels + LiL's for many markets. Get yourself a VIP622 receiver and enjoy. They have already said 6 more National HD channels will go live by years end and two additional MPEG4 specific satellites will be going up in December.
If it is on Universal HD, then any Dish HD sub will get it as well. Go see when it is playing next on Universal HD and enjoy your Dish (you had better have a ViP622 receiver).
Why do people keep saying "in another year or two, when the novelty of the motion detector has worn off"? This statement just doesn't make any sense to me at all. That is like saying "well, in a year or two when 0-60 in 4 seconds of your sports car wears off", it isn't going to. It isn't just a gimmick. It is a true advancement in the way interact with games. Sure, there are going to be games that implement motion control in crappy ways. The key is that there are going to be amazing games as well that simply aren't possible with a standard controller.
To anwser your question: yes Wii Sports is not a pack in in Japan, it is one of the highest selling games on the Wii over there (I think WiiPlay and it are really close in sales right now).
But you will get blocked you theif!

It will be on the 360, PC and PS3...but he doesn't like the RAM limitations of the PS3 :)
Good point...they should just stop trying.
(btw, great attitude to take towards solid progressive thinking that will help women out)

"Can't they just have parental lockout for games with a certain rating"
The Wii, Xbox360 and PS3 already have systems where you can lock out any ESRB rating if you don't know the passcode to play.

So in short: yes.

They took a 25 million dollar loss last year, are you sure they have this capital you speak of?
So, faster than an iPhone?

Yup, that is why I buy AMD CPU's...they are so fun!
A firewall that runs on hardware :)
I know a lot of people with John Deere tractors and no one with a Zune, so does that count? ;)
Walmart sold Linspire machines for a while, so Linux from Walmart isn't completely out of the question.
