I personally do have Adblock installed on my machine here, but I only use turn it on for sites that uses ads in a way that are obtrusive. Think of those lovely sites that uses flash to overlay ads that you have to figure out how to get rid of. Those sites, sure. But think of something like/. here. The ads don't get in the way. But they also let the service continue to be free for me. I won't block/. ads unless they start doing something to get them in my way.
Now, there is a somewhat person reason for this for me too. I am starting up a new gaming company that will depend on ad revenue on the site to survive. If people block it, we will die off. We won't ever put ads in the way, but some people just can't stand to let us make money for a free service to happen.
5 hour's when gaming if you are lucky will move it the way of the PSP. It also is priced out of the gaming market even beyond the PSP. Then there is also that pesky fact that Apple has said there won't be a way to install third party apps, so all developers would have to go through Apple for distribution even.
Nintendo is probably about as scared as they were of the N-Gage.
I sent the following: The lawsuit that you are trying to bring against Nintendo for people that can't figure how to hold onto a remote controller is appalling. You are a perfect example of why people dislike lawyers. Nintendo has created a device that when used properly is no harm to anyone at all and won't break. The moment people opt to use it incorrectly things might go wrong. If I throw my DVD remote at you and it injures you should we be suing Sanyo? Beyond the fact that Nintendo has created a perfectly safe device, they are even going out of their way to make people happy by offering a completely free and timely replacement program to have stronger straps for people that don't understand you don't throw a remote at your dog/TV/grandma.
Again, you decision to try and pursue this just shows why people enjoy lawyer jokes so much, it is because in cases like this, they are simply true.
Don't worry, I know why the strap is there and make sure it is always secured. I am just saying that the amount of force/misuse needed to break these thing is crazy as seen in my original post.
I have had a Wii since launch day. It has 60+ hours of use already by myself (25 year old avid gamer), my 5 year old niece, my wife (loves her Monkey Ball), my 57 year old father-in-law, my 15 year old cousin, ect, ect, ect. Not once has the WiiMote left anyone's hands (even with some pretty freaking fast pitches!). Not once has their been a fear of damaging my generic 27" TV or my Cousin's 42" Plasma.
The best beta testers for them are the crazy fan boys. This Beta test isn't about real testing...it is about buzz and press. The crazy people that love Halo will slobber all over it and give it the worldest greatest reviews they could.
What would be the point? I am sure Valve would stay as the primary holder of this new company, so while you wouldn't be writing a check to Valve at the end of the month, they will still be getting all your money.
My local GameStop (Hays, KS) already got more PS3's. I don't know how many, but two of my friends that didn't get their pre-orders filled on launch picked up theirs this evening.
Everyone is moving on the PS3 that can really tax the PS2. I would imagine there is more than can be tweaked out of the little black box...but our corporate overlords have said it is time for a next-gen...so we have no choice.
Watch these and tell me you don't want to try the console out. These people honestly look like they are just having fun. Some of these also really made me understand the possibilities for the casual gamer with this system.
I can't believe crap like this actually happens. I have an 8 (almost 9) month old that is pulling herself up on everything now. She has lost her balance more than once and taken a tumble. Should I remove my coffe table/fireplace/couch/ect just so she won't hurt herself? No. She needs to pull herself up so she can learn to walk. She also needs to learn that letting go can be a bad idea from time to time. I'm not going to let her really hurt herself, but a little tumble now and again isn't bad for any kid.
Right, holes in IE on Mac OS X would be horrible. You know, because IE on the Mac is directly integrated into the Kernel and can run system level code without your permission and all...oh, wait. It can't? Darn, I guess OS's built with real security in mind are actually more secure.
Great idea, but it just won't happen. Lets assume that next-next-gen games are 25GB in size. With a modern internet connection in the US (say 6mbit down) that will take you around 12 hours. Now, we could see a Steam like pre-loading system and that would work well, but what about people that have the barebones intenet connection? I know a lot of people that only get 512Kbps down. So lets assume that. It would only take them around one week to get that great new game.
I have to admit, I didn't read a lot about this game at all before purchasing. I haven't played a StarFox since the original on the SNES (well, I did play Adventures but that doesn't count). I expected a rails based shooter and didn't get that at all. I was disappointed with the first level because of this and thought I had bought a dud. Once I got over the fact that I wasn't played StarFox 1 on my DS I had a really good time. The free form flight fairs very well on the DS with the touch screen controls and the levels are rather varied. If you take the time to play through all the story paths you get to play as many characters/ships and on a lot of different environments. Some of the large scales boses (like the Anglor Emperor are rather impressive and fun).
Overall, I would give this game say a 8 out of 10. It is fun and will last you a good while if you play through all the story branches. I didn't get into the online play much, so I can't speak to that well at all.

I just don't understand some of you.

It was announced as exclusive to Cingular for at least two years.
"Holy crap, shock, and fear. New hardware has defects."
Haven't heard of one person having a defective Wii. I have atleast 10 friends with Wii's right now...not one defect.

Um, if they worked at McDonalds they would already have free WiFi for DS gameplay.

Everyone should also view this report:

If the default straps can take that, then people are just really dumb if they manage to break them.
The SkypeOut page says it will only be $14.99. I always recommend taking the word from the good old horses mouth.

You worked for Accenture.
Do I get a prize?

Half of everything you own? You aren't married are you...all I own now is a Wii.

This just doesn't seem practical yet.
We might want to also mention this: 360 + Wii + PS3 = Xbox Live Fee The WiiConnect24 is free.
Since when do you install a PS2 game?
Mine is available to you all.

But Walmart is a monopsony....
That just sounds extra scary...
So you are saying that too much shield bashing in Zelda is going to wear me out?
