The truth is that the security theater has been embraced by both parties.
Of course it is - that's politics. If the Democrats did The Right Thing(TM) and scaled back the security theater, they'd get reamed at the next election for being "soft" on terrorism. The problem is not the government, it's the voters (and lobbyists) who won't allow The Right Thing(TM) to happen.
If you can "install" something, it's not a calculator - it's a computer. Using a computer in a maths exam is cheating - "technical ability" of the examiners doesn't enter into it. Simple checks like "8 segment display, pass; dot matrix display, fail" weed out most forms of cheating - or they did back in my day. If "calculators" need a "factory reset" before exams, the cheaters have already won... (Before you ask, the slide rule/log table vs. calculator battle was before my time - but I understand where they were coming from.)
You're off by a factor of 2. The individual beams are currently running at 3.5 TeV; the collisions are at 7 TeV. The goal is to ramp up to 7 TeV beams for 14 TeV collisions.
The obvious solution is to have blogging and non-blogging sections of the restaurant, and adjust the food temperatures accordingly. I'd much rather my food come out too warm and need to cool a little that "perfect": eating at a fine restaurant is generally done with company, and talking is often the real main course. "Shut up, and eat it before it gets cold" is what I'd expect from my mother, not a fine restaurant.
Of course not - they make the technology now, so you don't want to get them off side, eh?

DC District Court Judge Rosemary Collyer is a he?
That's easy: posting enormous quantities of data online and expecting members of the public to audit it is a massive waste of time and resources.

Too late - China p0wns you. The shiny trinkets are there to keep the proles happy.
"You gotta tell 'em—iPHONE IS PEOPLE!"
"Whatever. Does it come in white?"
... pay-per-fart.
"We want ... a bloomery!"
Do not "death grip" shuriken with remaining hand.

Why do dwarves need renewable energy subsidies?
A hacking conference, cool badges with wireless capability; what could possibly go wrong?
"Again?! That trick nevers works."

As in Will it Blend? A V8 is recommended.
Or grammar, apparently... ("Who is" -> "who's", not "whose".)
Cat: I hate to go all technical on you, but: All hands on deck, Swirly Thing Alert!
Belgium, man. Belgium.
Thank you; finally some units for real people, not Spiderman! I'll get the crackers.

Groklaw has just turned seven, and SCO vs. IBM/Novell/Red Hat etc. cases are still going with nary a piece of evidence in sight.
In space, no one can hear you go "*whoosh*".
Not just Earth's orbit, New Horizons also needed to escape the Sun - a much deeper gravity well.
