I live in Melbourne, Australia. I was able to watch the Seaon 1 finale of Game of Thrones 2 days before I saw the first advertisment for the series. The ad campaign was launched weeks before the series was aired here.
Because they didn't make any money above federal poverty rates....but hey, don't let details get in the way of a perfectly overused irrelevant statistic.
the top 1% paid 40%
When they account for the fact that 49% of people aren't in a position to be able to pay income tax, the should be paying *more* taxes, not less.
Not that I'm weighing in on the side of the PHB, but aren't there laws that mandate that the corporation to maximise shareholder profit? Does that not mean that if they don't offshore, they can be taken to task for failing to follow this mandate?
Actually it sounds like they realised they were going to sell the device at a loss, and implemented measures to minimise losses due to them not shipping many units.
But, how many non-technical users' kids/friends are technical, and want to upgrade or recycle their hardware when it is no longer needed or used for its intended purpose? What might no longer cut it as a high end gaming rig can easily be repurposed into a meda centre, or RAID, or any number of purposes.
How many non-technical people went 'Vista is shit, I want 7', and their kids chimed in with 'Get the full OEM version + a HDD, don't bother with the retail upgrade'?
Many 'non-technical' users are able to recognise themselves as such, and defer to people around them for advice.
We already have wearable electronics... have had for a while... Sony WalkMan, Apple iPod, etc...
I'm sure the corporations that stand to make billions from these products will throw some money at marketing to try and work out how to make these devices 'cool'.

Survival is not required for being the first person to break the sound barrier without a means of propulsion.
If this is the case, something tells me the crew complement of the Space Shuttle Columbia might have him beat then...
I like paying taxes... they pay for things like health care... then again, I'm in Australia... what do taxes pay for in the US again?
You're assuming that Microsoft are the only people who provide an OS for x86. Don't do that.
49% don't actually pay income tax

There, FTFY.
Point taken...sometimes more is less.
Optimal being 'Best possible', how does one perform above what is optimal? You are either perfect (optimal) or not perfect (sub-optimal).
People with integrity rarely enter politics; the ones that do rarely rise to the top.

Actually, my suggestion looks a bit like this: http://xkcd.com/538/
Thermite, or any other method to melt the platters.
Justice will never give up.
You use the word 'justice'. I do not think it means what you think it means.

How lovely. Has she paid her respects to Alan Turing yet?
I'm not worried that I hear reports about police being convicted of corruption. I'll start to worry when I stop hearing about it.

Let's be honest. This is an outage of an entertainment network. I don't think anyone can really claim they suffered due to it not being available.
You don't have kids, do you?

Probably that Duke Nukem Forever won't be running any dedicated servers...
I'm predicting it will be a little early, as in 21/12/2012.
