In places where the attempt is made to appear to be a free society (like USA, Canada, EU) sure you might be able to try that, but if you're in China or someplace like that you'd be risking a bullet in the back of your head.
For a places like that, we'll need steganography so that people can securely transmit data while pretending to do nothing out of the ordinary.
Then you must have never drawn the ire of a cop. They can charge you with conspiracy for just about any crime. If a cop has a real hard on for you, they can get you for things like conspiracy to jaywalk.
BTW, if Dell doesn't like RedHat, why don't they use something else? People vote with their dollars.
Apparently, Dell is threatening to do just that. If Red Hat won't deal, then I'm sure the SUSE or Mandrake, or anyone else would love to have a partnership with Dell.
So race perceptions make everything, and I'm sick of them. Sometimes, I get the impression that its easier to not be what I am, because people won't think lowly of me.
Please forgive me if this sounds presumptuous, but what you are is a black man. Who you are is what is far more important. It's not up to other people to determine who or what you are or should be. Be who and what you are on your own terms.
Not only did I grow up as a nerdy black kid, but also as the only black kid in my neighborhood. My parents worked hard and did well, we lived in a good neighborhood. When you solve one set of problems, you create another. The "perception of others" is a more complicated problem as such it's one that's not simple to deal with. You can't change what other people think, but you can change how you deal with it. For example, I take opportunities for comedy. When I can tell someone is afraid of me because of my size and color, I'll grimace and walk over. "Pardon me sir, would you happen to have the time?" or "Fantastic day isn't it?" I take great delight in watching their faces as their minds make sense of what just happened.
Seriously, these people worked for a company that is HATED by IT professionals all over the world. Why should we care if they can find new jobs after they were used up and thrown away?

When sources that disagree with the researchers are ridiculed, the people that are inclined to believe those sources lose interest in the research.
Instead of saying that "Research institute X has found Y, but their model is incorrect because they didn't factor in Z", these people are pretending that the other research doesn't exist. They need to get the support of lay people if they want their research to be taken seriously outside of academia.

If it turns out you failed to cooperate when asked, it can lead to criminal liability, especially if people hijacked your computers to commit another crime, like trading bank account numbers or plotting political assasinations.
There's a difference between not cooperating and actively obstructing. I'm not talking about the latter.
How would you cooperate with law enforcement when a crime has been committed on a computer?
That's the wrong question. How would I cooperate isn't a concern because I wouldn't.
If your cooperation leads to evidence that you didn't do everything that you could have possibly done to prevent the security breach, that could expose you to financial liability. I'm not going to be the one to gathers the evidence to be used against me.

The I'm feeling lucky search for google takes you to the Quicktime download page, not the basic quicktime page.
The gamers out there may not care, but look what happened to Sega.
The gamers who care are the reason that what happened to Sega happened.
We got sick of getting abandoned every other year. Sega made no secret of the fact that every system that they released was just to raise money to develop the next one.
Why spend all of that money on Sega's latest and greatest when you know that in two years they'll discontinue it and take all of the developers to their new platform?

Kind of the same way that planes will overbook flights on the assumption that not everyone will actually show up for the flight.
Back in the 1980s the airline that my mother worked for had a standing policy to overbook by 15.
It was cheaper do that than to schedule extra flights. For example if everyone showed up and you had 15 extra people, you could purchase tickets for all of them on a competing airline, refund their ticket prices and give them a free night in a hotel all for less than the cost of a second plane.
Truthfully, that almost never happened. Usually overbooked flights would STILL have open seats on them.
Virtual Boy was a mistake, true, but while it was a dismal failure it didn't cause Nintendo's presence in the market to shrink one fourth of what the original PS did just a couple of years after its introduction.
The PS hurt nintendo, but so did their refusal to launch a disc based console. The N64 could render some nice graphics, but without lots and lots of textures and FMV like you can fit on a disc, the graphical quality of their games was limited.
