Though I do believe it's far past time for a new space vehicle, if NASA called me right now and asked me to go tomorrow, I wouldn't even have to think about it, so if you're reading this guys, I can have a bag packed in 20 seconds *wink wink*. Accidents will happen, they have before and they will again, even when it's as bad as loosing a crew, good can come from them if you choose to learn from them. If the news media and the law makers don't screw them over, they will NASA, always has.
The only thing the space programme lacks is new, better, cheaper ways of doing what they do, because they're stuck with their old tools to do the job with. Thats where the programme needs to go, the money people need to stop making get by using a screw driver to drill a hole and just let them spend the extra cash on a drill already.
My boss tried to call them to pay the company cell phone bill, and they can't their database is hosed from this attack, anyone else know of any companies that are hosed right now?
Everytime I'm looking for something I can always find it, out of the 5 million GB or more available on Kazaa, gnutela, etc. thats available, the size of their operation would have to be enourmous to put a dent in file sharing, let alone stop a dedicated searcher from finding what they want. It's easy to set up a couple downloads at once, then check them when they're done to see if it's what they're looking for, it only takes a few seconds of a song to know if its what you wanted.
the submitter writes "SMS was one revenue source for mobile providers, will camera phones become another?" Probably, but they wont get my money for one until i get usable photos, plus i'm picky and want several devices in one, like GPS, moblie phone, PDA, mp3 player, FRS/GMRS radio, AM/FM radio, and so on, if i can have one device to drag around then I'll buy a computer smaller than a laptop.
Many of you are speculating that it wont do any good at all, you'd bounce around, etc... but remember, in order for this to go into sale it probably had to go through some sort fo testing for how safe it would be and so on, like any other seatbelt or airbag would. so clearly it has been found to be somewaht helpful it protecting the rider. lets go outside and I'll hit you on a motorbike with my car, do you want this thing or not? it's probably gonna be better than nothing don't forget that.
i'll pitch in a buck to get Taco a new haircut, don't TRY to look like a style-less geek man, you just got married, man, don't let yourself go straight away! remember you're a geek boy who has a girl, a wife no less!

is a standard power interface, when i can use any power cord from any other screen to power another, then i'll think about buying them. our customers have anywhere from 2 to 30 computers all with a mish mash of monitors, but when one goes i can always swap it iwht a spare from the back shelf and have no problems, with LCDs they tend to use proprietary power supplies, and that ain't good enough.
I am in the market for a new CD player deck, i like the 100 disk or more decks due to my huge CD collection, but dont want to enter all the titles manually, what would be cool is a CD player with ethernet that will, when a new CD is loaded, goto the CDDB or freeDB and get the discs info. Or a CD deck that will talk to my computer, so i can get the info that way. THAT would rock.
i'm surprised nobody mentioned this already. Speilberg is against this but at the same time re-cut and altered E.T. to make it more "family friendly". At what point do we stop taking anything he says and does seriously? i just did. He's miffed about the directors "vision" being tampered with, but if he's the one doing the tampering it's ok. IMHO you can't have it both ways.
this is hollywood we're talking about, rmember? They often take interest much more in something after the creator dies. why? fat sacks of cash money. they usually can get away with paying less than what the creator asked, they don't care about making it good, just making it profitable. it's america 101.
there was an article, i think i saw it on fark about a guy who plays huge pranks all the time, and a movie sutdio waned to make his life into a movie, but refused to pay what he wanted. Then he faked his own death complete with funeral, then the movie studio started calling again, thinking he was dead, offereing even less than what they had before for the movie rights to his story. it's all about money people. Douglas and HGTTG is just more money to be made, like Jim Carey and the grinch, another fond childhood memory ruined.
i've tried mandrake, debian, slackware, Suse, Nomad, turbolinux, and a few more and i always come back to redhat, its IMHO more focused on what they have to do. They release one version and rather than switch to making the next release they support the current release for a year or 2 trying to make it better rather than the "it will be fixed in the next release."
i gave it to a MS only tech who had been trying many other distros most of which he was unable to get to even install, he didn't use redhat because he heard it was bloated, insecure and unstable. and it installed perfectly the first time and he's stuck with it.
its only flaw is (again my opinion) if you dont do a custom package selection install you get too much of the same thing, a couple different image viewers, email clients, mp3 players, image editors and so on. so if you wanna claim they're like MS the only way you'll win that argument is that they bundle software with their OS.
does anybody know where one could find a set of mini remote control submarines? 50-galon fish tank size ones, so we can duel it out the office? i've seen pictures and some stuff about ones in japan, but cant find buying info.
its about 10 min after i read this and I just finished downloading the whole album in.mp3
Which once again proves my theory, anyhting they do, can be broken, piss off Sony and take your horse face giraffe, Celine Dion with you!
How did we go from "enhanced CDs a few years ago that they WANTED you to put in your computer, to this crap? and hell yes it will be deleted, i just wanted to prove the point.
We're mostly quite level people, all i can guess is this woman is depressed/upset over the death of her son, greedy, or from chicago.
He clearly had problems that he had before he even touched Everquest, it could have easily been anything else, canceling his favorite show (futurama? the tick?) or the constant calls from telemarketers we seem to get here in the milwaukee area. He needed help, and I think shes just enormously guilty that she didn't help him, but these days you blame someone else rather take responsibility for yourself.
I work for a small business that provides IT support to other small businesses, and the more you learn about the person the easier it is. Sometimes you need not know them hardly at all.
At one company everybody there uses they type of car they drive, example, Nadia drives a VW Jetta, so hers is "jetta" hell the boss who I avoid 'cos she's crazy drives a BMW, guess what? Her password is "BMW" sometimes they get creative and use a pets name, or a child's name, but it's always one of those three: car type, pets name or child's name. Whenever soemone does use their pets name or kids name, they have a picture of that person/animal right by their machine all you gotta do is ask "wWhats your cats name?" boom, your in.
Finally something about poor security in Windows that isn't Microsoft's fault.
the really big one that allowed you to be taken over, well last i checked less than a week ago, that patch doesnt exist on window supdate, aparently its not a critical update, you have to dig a bit to find it. so dont worry MS says its not important, it must not be.
Look! Their site is down! Someone must have used this exploit to launch a Dos on them! Oh wait... damn you slashdot!
the poor quality of the april fools jokes on /. today should count as a terror attack. Come on Taco, figure something better out.

honestly this is my earliest one, at least that i can date. i was about 3 at the time.
look at the bright side, you're screwing them over by reading /. rather than working! your my hero, if it amounts to anything.

One bloated company bent on world domination suing another bloated company for being bent on world domination.
