Exactly! They have over time appeared to be outwardly a 'market share protection', 'monopoly sized market share protection' company. Windows is the castle keep. Everything else serves to augment and bolster it's position. That is where the money and the market power come from. All things serve Windows. Even Office is subservient, to help promote and hold Windows share. They are not a technology company, they are a 'market share product protection' company that happens to use software and licenses and such to operate in. That's largely why their efforts fail or near-fail when they are not able to tie them to Windows' dominance somehow and/or threaten other industry players with their lives if they don't play ball.
This. Had a boss one time ask me for an estimate. I was intimately familiar with the C++ code and said 3 months. He didn't believe it, so he asked someone else who told him 6 months. Yet another told him a year. Who did he go with? His buddy that told him two weeks. FML
Ok, that is Q3, and you can go back to April 2011, but still, just how many are there really who a) bought a PlayBook, and b) "have already purchased lots of streaming video content" ??
Um, do we really, really want to implant something that thinks parts of us are food? It's not like the yeast are gonna say "whoa, we've had enough! If we get any more food we're gonna start multiplying like crazy, and we don't want that!"
AND they're connecting them to a mechanical device? Can you say "flesh-eating robots devour mankind"?;-)
Not a bad comeback, but should have been done a long time ago.
I thought it was a good response, although unclever, clumsy, obvious, tactless, pointed, non-subtle, defensive, immature (what, are they gonna cry?? mean ol' Mac making fun of them??), ham-handed, it was a solid response. A stupid response but a solid response.
They took the Apple ads too personal -- their response was like they were hurt, and saying directly, 'hey, i don't either suck'.
They couldn't come up with something a little more clever and fun?
It's like they're trying to capitalize and leverage all the people that feel personally wounded from the Mac/PC ads, trying to rally them all. Still no class. Although Longoria is 'teh new hotness'!
The sight of Gates wiggling his butt followed by the tagline "Delicious" is...well,... I want to gouge my eyes out, scrape my brain out with a spork, pray for self spontaneous combustion.
Those words and images should never be even on the same page much less in such conjunction.
Luke, I am your fodder.

By the way, he gave it to the guy who said it would take a year. A year later and he wasn't even close to being done.

Creationism is just a symptom of a much more fundementalproblem.
I saw what you did there....

"Amazon will likely succeed only in alienating customer with PlayBooks who have already purchased lots of streaming video content."
Isn't that a bit dramatic?? I mean look at this, "RIM sold into the channels approximately 150,000 BlackBerry PlayBook tablets in the third quarter...".

I venture to think Amazon maybe "doesn't give a shit".
They tried, several times. And quite predictably failed.
They tried and failed?
They tried and died.
How about body double Young Frankenstein's Monster ?
Can't stop the signal, Mal.
Oh boo-frickity-hoo. That's been rescinded or modified anyway. Got another ooooh! Scaaaary "draconian policy" you want to parrot?
See: John Wayne Bobbit
Come on! That is comedy gold right there!

"They deserve a long and very painful and unpleasant life instead."
A job in IT?
Damn, that was funny. And me with no points. Thanks, though.
"Cloud computing"?? I'd say "water vapour ware".

"$54 million for just a name? Sounds a little high to me."
I dare say they must have been more than a little high to pay that much.
Speaking of ass...

Or a white unicorn?
"I have seen a nurse changing a mans diarhea filled diaper in one bed while the patient in the other bed began to vomit violently."
Sounds like my cube farm when the server crapped out over the weekend, but of course no monitoring, so apps hung up on Monday.
Not on Linux.
