  1. Debian has no competition in a server environment. on Debian Leaders: We Need to Release More Often · · Score: 1

None. Nada. Zilch. I was hardcore Redhat since pre RH3 (before that I was a Slackware zealot). Once they released the new installer for Debian I decided to give it a run. HOLY CRAP, what an amazing OS. Rock solid. All the packages "just work" with one another 99% of the time. Pretty amazing OS, if you haven't tried Sarge with the new installer you are really missing out.

As far as the desktop, after trying FC4t1 and noticing practically zero actual technological advancement I decided to try out Ubuntu. Nice desktop OS. Once 5 is out with xorg as the default xserver I'm switching my workstations at work over to it from Fedora.

I've used it for 3 years now, why buy software when you can get nearly the exact same functionality ina webbased app? They transfer your old data from year to year so you have to type practically nothing. They also support importing W-2's from companies like ADP (check processing). Its not OS but its also not a waste of plastic and paper like the desktop products.

It offers on-demand video, HD and recording multiple shows at the same time. The user interface is a joke. They recently changed the 'Movies' section to start off in the center of the on-demand listings so if you wanna scroll to the list of movies for the channels you already pay for you have to scroll for awhile. I find that VERY disappointing. It really is the worst UI i've ever encountered in a product. I'm not sure what they were thinking.
