So basically you are saying it is ok to encumber more the console.
I was under the impression that the PS3 got so expensive because Sony crammed so many things into it that are barely related to the main purpose of the thing, which is gaming.

Ok, so many people use stereo, I have not seen a dvd player that does not come with a way to have only stereo output. Economic problems? Get a cheap one. It would still be better than any dvd (as in the movies) support the wii could give.

Isn't one of Unix philosophies "do one thing and do it well?"

also, I didn't mean region codes for games, although I was unaware they were already there for the games. But it is still something new that raises the price tag AND reduces the likability of the system (at least in my case)

Ok, so DVD is only 480p, and wii has only RCA output. It still would not do good use of the technology. Even a cheap dvd player should give better results, and scalability as it surely has more outputs than just the rca and stereo ones.

So, again, if it will be a downloadable channel, go ahead nintendo, I don't mind.

But I don't see it happening either way, and I would rather get some sort of storage support to lessen load times of games and the dvd drive and the disks usage.

Well, if it is a downloadable optional upgrade, I wouldn't mind what others did with the console.
But I don't want an expensive innecesary upgrade that carries the extra burden of region codes.
Also, the Wii is stereo only, and not hd, what is the point of a dvd player there? I would rather have a flash plugin for its browser, and watch my dvds on a proper player.
