  1. Wow! on Miniature 5400 and 7200 RPM HDDs Reviewed · · Score: 2, Funny

What's impressive to me is that Tom's HG is still this fast , even with all of us checking out the drives. Tom must be the hardware king...

  2. Mp3's and HD's on Computer Expectations of Today, and a Decade Hence? · · Score: 1

I remember thinking that Harddisks would be completely replaced by other technologies so that there would be almost no moving parts in a PC.
    It's a pity that didn't come true.
I also remember telling my friends that in 10 years time we would not buy CD's , but we would go to the shop and purchase a little RAM chip with the latest music on it. I never thought we would actually download cd-quality music in a matter of minutes.

  3. Tanzanite on The Diamond Age · · Score: 1

Actually Tanzanite is a lot more rare than Diamonds and naturally found in only one place on Earth - Tanzania in central Africa.
    Nice blue colour,almost purple.

Yes, I suppose companies will always be greedy and make mistakes. It's only run by humans after all.

  6. Wish SCO did the same. on Novell To Cease NetWare Development? · · Score: 1

This is a very brave thing for them to do. They had a good product in the 80,s and maybe 90's and realised that times have changed. Instead of holding on to their product and using dirty tricks to try and stay alive without a good product, they decided to use what they can and move on.
I'm also getting very tired of all the SCO stuff, but this is really what SCO should've done. But then they would not have had a higher share price and a dickhead at the top.
But still, congrats to Novell for being brave. I hope they survive well. SCO on the other hand...

  7. Crappy Windows shell on Windows XP Edges Out KDE in Usability Test · · Score: 3, Insightful

IMO, the biggest problem I have is that I can't find a decent shell in Windows.
In Linux, even when I run SX, I just open a bunch of terminals and type happily away. I can do everything from CLI whether it's inside a GUI or not. In windows, I keep looking for bash or any decent shell, but all I can find is this stupid Dos shell that seems only useful for changing directories. I can't quickly check my running processes, launch an app or 2 , write scripts or code and check on stuff running in the background while changing some stuff in my Mysql databases.
It's like the GUI works against the OS not for it..

  11. bible? on Digitized Gutenberg Bible Available · · Score: 1

No matter what they say. I'll always think that Jesus was just some cool hippie dude with psycic powers like David Blaine that was completely and utterly misunderstood in those primitive times. He tried to tell them something and they took it completely wrong. Now we've got this little story book with lots of names and places and a couple of rules, but nothing really makes any sense. And some people take it way too seriously, IMHO.
Maybe you think I'll get flamed in hell...

  14. Wonder boy is that you? on Celebrating Bad Game Packaging Art · · Score: 1

Funny, I always thought wonder boy was a fun-loving , short young man with curly blonde hair. Not this demented, evil freak with a zombie grin on his face.
    I prefer the low-res graphics.

  24. Not bad, but... on MandrakeSoft's Status Update · · Score: 1

I've been using it for a couple of years. Mainly because I wanted to try something other than Redhat and did not want to go through a lot of trouble setting up hardware.
But eventually it just became too easy and too much like Redhat and I only recently decided to go back to Slackware after a good couple of years. Very nice. Slackware moved ahead where Mandrake just dished out more of the same with every new release. It's like they were not innovative enough.Well, IMHO.
